Further information regarding new cars official fuel consumption figures and official specific CO2 emissions can
be found in the Guideline for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and electric power consumption, which can be
obtained free of charge at all sales outlets and from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (www.dat.de/en).
The listed values for fuel consumption and CO2 emissions refer to the engine variants available at the time the
brochure Mercedes-Benz Cars at a Glance. Edition 2016 was published.
We are aiming high and have done so for the past 130 years.
2015 was the most successful year in our history. We sold almost two
million vehicles and we think we can do even better. This year, we are
celebrating the automobiles 130th anniversary, and we are focusing more
than ever before on the expertise that has always been our companys
driving force.
Even more innovation.
Our goal is to provide Mercedes customers with more in every vehicle
segment: more comfort, more safety, more styling, and more efficiency.
Thats our conception of premium. Its based on innovative ideas that
range from digitization to autonomous driving. That way we are once again
emphasizing our claim to leadership in the year of the new E-Class.
And even more emotion.
Although there are many rational reasons why someone should opt for
a Mercedes-Benz, the decision is ultimately a matter of the heart. In 2016
we are appealing to peoples emotional side with a whole series of new
dream cars from the legendary SL to the S-Class convertible. After all,
sportiness is just as much a core feature of the Mercedes-Benz brand as
innovation.
I am convinced that the fascination of automobiles is greater and more
diverse today than at any time since the car was invented 130 years ago.
And no other brand exemplifies this fascination as much as Mercedes-Benz.
Sincerely,
Dieter Zetsche

Due to the realignment resulting from the Customer Dedication initiative, the workforce numbers that were previously reported in the section Vehicle Sales have been
contained in the respective divisions in 2014 and 2015. Since the end of 2015, this
has also applied to the sales and service centers in Germany and the global logistics
center in Germersheim, whose employees are now grouped under Mercedes-Benz
Cars, Daimler Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans, and Daimler Buses. The comparable
figures from 2014 have been adjusted retroactively to reflect these changes.

Mercedes-Benz Cars
in Brief
From the high-quality small cars of the smart brand and the premium
vehicles produced by Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-Maybach all the way
to the high-performance automobiles from Mercedes-AMG, the brands
of Mercedes-Benz Cars offer the right vehicle for every type of customer.
Our pledge: For our customers, we want to develop the worlds safest,
most comfortable, and most efficient automobiles and flexibly manufacture
them in top quality within our global production network. Wherever needed,
we adapt the design and equipment of our vehicles to the special customer
requirements in the various markets. At the same time, we are continuing
to conduct in-depth research in order to create innovations that underscore
our claim to leadership when it comes to automotive engineering. As the
inventor of the automobile, Mercedes-Benz is investing, for example, in the
further development of alternative drive systems that range from plug-in
hybrids and battery-electric cars all the way to fuel-cell technology. Moreover, were forging ahead with research into autonomous driving.

smart: The new smart fortwo and forfour models, which began to be delivered in Europe in late 2014, were introduced in China, the United States,
and Japan in 2015. This was one reason why sales of smart-brand vehicles
increased by 31 % to 121,400 units. A third model the smart convertible
was then launched at the end of 2015. The first vehicles will be delivered
in March 2016. The new smart convertible also makes a big impression with
its compact dimensions and unparalleled small turning circle.
The production network: In order to meet the production targets of our
growth strategy, we are continually refining our flexible and highly efficient
global production network. We aim for top quality at all production locations and also seek to ensure we can respond quickly to market fluctuations
and changed customer requirements. We have agreed with employee representatives on future plans that are currently being implemented at nearly all
Mercedes-Benz manufacturing plants in Germany. These plans will ensure
the international competitiveness of these facilities and also safeguard
jobs at the various locations. The billions of euros we are investing here underscore the importance of our plants in Germany as centers of expertise
for global production. We are also expanding our international production
capacities. For example, we will begin building the C-Class and the GLA

sports car and high-performance brand with the GT, which is intended
to be the first member of an entire family of models. The sports car was
developed by Mercedes-AMG completely independently and it clearly
demonstrates the innovation and development expertise in Affalterbach.
True to its philosophy of performance with responsibility, Mercedes-AMG
is striving to become even more efficient with new engine technologies and
a comprehensive lightweight design approach. AMG models already have
some of the lowest emissions in their respective segments.

compact SUV at a new car plant in Iracempolis, Brazil, in 2016. Last year,
Daimler and the Renault-Nissan Alliance also laid the cornerstone for a
new joint venture production plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico. This facility
will begin to produce Mercedes-Benz compact models in 2018. Within the
framework of the digital transformation, we are working intensely on the
creation of a smart factory that stands out through its resource efficiency
as well as its ability to make rapid adjustments and integrate customers
and partners into value creation processes. Networked production systems,
a completely digital process chain, the intelligent use of production data,
and new models for human-machine cooperation will make manufacturing
even more flexible and efficient in the future. At the same time, we are optimizing our employees workstations on the basis of ergonomic criteria and
creating the conditions necessary for successful intergenerational cooperation in our production organization.
China: In 2015 we renewed and expanded our range of products for
customers in China by offering 15 new or updated vehicles. Important new
products here were the GLA, GLC, and GLE SUVs, the Mercedes-Maybach,
and the new smart models. We also added more than 50 new sales outlets
to our sales network in China, which now comprises approximately 500
dealerships nationwide. With the start of compact-vehicle production in the
form of the GLA, the plant in Beijing has become the only Mercedes-Benz
facility in the world to manufacture both front and rear-wheel drive car
models, as well as engines, at one site. In October 2015, we began producing an additional volume series the GLC SUV for the local market in
China. Our new research and development center in China ensures we will
be able to address customer requirements in the country in an even more
targeted manner in the future. During the year under review, we significantly improved our market position in China. All in all, we were able to
increase sales of Mercedes-Benz brand vehicles by 41 % to 387,400 units,
even as the overall car market grew at a much slower pace.
Best Customer Experience: Within the framework of the Best Customer
Experience marketing and sales strategy, Mercedes-Benz is aligning its
sales and marketing organization with customer requirements. In doing so,
it is offering products that are tailored to individuals lifestyles. The goal
here is to address new target groups, while at the same time maintaining
the brand loyalty of established customers. To this end, Mercedes-Benz
is utilizing new sales channels and digital portals as innovative interfaces
to the brand. The multichannel approach links different sales formats with
digital elements, thereby supplementing the services offered at traditional
Mercedes-Benz dealerships and showrooms. The centerpiece of Best Customer Experience is Mercedes me, which offers comprehensive personal-
11
CO2 emissions: Our new engines and extremely fuel-efficient model variants enabled us to substantially reduce the average CO2 emissions of the
cars we sold in the European Union in 2015 from 129 g/km to 123 g/km.
This means we have achieved our 2016 target of 125g/km ahead of
schedule. That achievement was made possible in large part by our new
compact-class models, the new and significantly more economical C-Class
models, and our efficient plug-in hybrid drive systems.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Hamburg is an important part of the powertrain production network and looks back on a long history.
The facility manufactures axles and axle components, steering columns,
components for exhaust emission technology, and lightweight structural
parts.
Pioneering technologies such as advanced welding techniques and a
system that combines hydroforming with plastic injection molding are
also refined at the plant for use in series production.
Every Mercedes-Benz car contains at least one product from the
Hamburg plant.
Environmental management has been an integral part of the Mercedes-Benz
plant in Hamburg for many years now and has a high priority next to the
core business.
Founded in 1935 under the name Vidal & Sohn Tempowerk GmbH, the
Hamburg plant became a part of the former Daimler-Benz AG in 1978.

BBAC, a joint venture between Daimler and its Chinese partner BAIC
Motor, produces front-wheel and rear-wheel drive vehicles as well as
engines under one roof.
BBAC is part of the global production network of the C-Class, which
encompasses the lead plant in Bremen as well as additional facilities in
Tuscaloosa and East London. The current C-Class first rolled off the
production line in 2014. The best-selling Mercedes-Benz model series is
also produced at BBAC in a market-specific long version.
In 2012 the cornerstone was laid for the production of compact cars.
Local production of the compact GLA began in the first half of 2015.
A part of the powertrain network was established in Beijing in 2013
with the start of engine production in a new sub-plant. The engines are
installed into locally produced cars and vans.
In 2014 the 500,000th locally produced Mercedes-Benz car rolled off
the assembly line at BBAC. In 2015 the joint venture celebrated its tenth
anniversary.

The Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt is the lead plant within the global
production network for compact cars. This network also encompasses
the plant in Kecskemt, Hungary, the BBAC facility in Beijing, China, and
the contract manufacturer Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, Finland.
The facility flexibly produces three of the five models of the current compact vehicle generation (A-Class, B-Class, and GLA) on several assembly
lines.
Since the production launch of the B-Class Electric Drive in 2014, the
plant manufactures models with combustion engines and electric drives
on the same assembly line.
With its more than 6,300 employees, the plant is the biggest industrial
employer in the region.
According to the future plan that was agreed on in 2015, Daimler will,
by 2020, invest around 1 billion in the plants further technological
development and the expansion of production at the site.
More than four million vehicles have rolled off the plants assembly line
to date. The first Mercedes-Benz A-Class was produced in 1997.
The Mercedes-Benz Customer Center Rastatt is located right next to the
plant. Approximately 250 vehicles are picked up here every day.

The new C-Class Coup is sportier than its predecessor and its exterior
differs considerably from that of the current C-Class Sedan.
For Mercedes-Benz, the coup thus has great potential to win over new
young customers who focus on design and driving pleasure.
Highlights
Differs considerably from the sedan, thanks to its consistently sporty
coup design, which features a low silhouette and frameless doors, a
distinctively designed rear section, a diamond-shaped radiator grille, and
a lower slung chassis with 43.2 cm (17") light-alloy wheels.
For the engine variants with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the coup is the only
vehicle in its segment to feature AIRMATIC air suspension as an option.
The interior is typical of a coup and features high-quality styling and
craftsmanship.

Positioning
The Mercedes-AMG GT launches Mercedes-Benz sports car and performance brand into a new sports car segment that is new for the company
and already occupied by top-class models. As a product of the highest
levels of craftsmanship and engineering skill, the vehicle is the ultimate
embodiment of dynamism and passion. The AMG GT is the second sports
car to be completely independently developed by Mercedes-AMG.
Highlights
The front mid-engine concept and its transaxle arrangement are combined with an intelligent aluminum lightweight structure to create the
basis for a highly dynamic driving experience.
The all-new AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine makes the Mercedes-AMG
GT one of the most powerful sports cars in its segment. The first sports
car engine with inside-mounted turbochargers (hot inside V) and drysump lubrication is offered in two output ratings: as the AMG GT with
340 kW (462 hp) and as the AMG GT S with 375 kW (510 hp).
The Mercedes-AMG GTs body is made almost exclusively of aluminum.
Thanks to its intelligent mix of materials, the body weighs only 231 kg
a record low value for the sports car segment.
With its long hood, rear-positioned greenhouse, and extremely short
projections, the Mercedes-AMG GT boasts classic sports car dimensions.
The AMG GT combines dynamic handling and first-rate racetrack performance with a high level of suitability for everyday use and new standards
of efficiency for the segment.

Positioning
The new GLE offers great on-road and off-road performance, has impressive spaciousness and versatility, and features outstanding comfort, while
also combining good driving performance under all conditions with low
fuel consumption and emissions.
Highlights
The highlights of the new GLE include measures for ensuring record-low
emissions and outstanding drive-system performance.
For the first time in the models history, Mercedes-Benz is offering a
plug-in hybrid model, the GLE 500 e 4MATIC. This vehicle combines
maximum efficiency with outstanding performance. It is a multitalented
SUV that consumes even less fuel than the very fuel efficient GLE 250 d,
which has a four-cylinder diesel engine. Despite its efficiency, the plug-in
hybrids performance is comparable to that of a V8 model.

Positioning
The GLE Coup is the first Mercedes-Benz model in the full-size sport
utility coup segment. Its design combines SUV and coup features,
while its handling unites high performance with agility.
Highlights
The imposingly sporty exterior emphasizes the vehicles on-road
character with a coup-like roof line, various features that are typical
of SUVs, and standard-fitted 50.8 cm (20") light-alloy wheels.
The DYNAMIC SELECT driving programs, powerful engines, 4MATIC,
and 9G-TRONIC make the vehicle uniquely agile for a SUV.
It is more functional and comfortable than any other coup on the
market. This is due, in part, to three rear seats as well as a reversing
camera and the LED Intelligent Light System as standard equipment.

Positioning
The new smart fortwo plays a pioneering role as the perfect car for urban
use, as testified by its incomparably compact exterior dimensions, great
spaciousness, and further improved safety and comfort features.
The new generation of the smart fortwo retains the attributes that are
typical of the brand: an incredibly short length, unmatched agility, the
tridion safety cell, the two-tone concept, and the plastic body panels.
Highlights
An approximately 10 centimeter wider track has substantially improved
the cars driving properties and interior comfort compared to the predecessor model.
However, the unchanged length of 2.69 meters and unparalleled small
turning circle of 6.95 meters ensure that the smart fits into any parking
space.
The new six-speed DCT ensures good ride comfort and driving pleasure
in urban areas. The new model series is also offered with a sporty manual
transmission.
The smart fortwo comes with an extensive array of safety and comfort
features, including Crosswind Assist, proximity control, a reversing
camera, a lane-keeping warning system, and two multi-media system
variants, all of which clearly distinguish the car from its competitors in the
segment.

Highlights
All of the coups strengths are also found in the smart cabrio: great
agility, styling, interior features, and engine performance.
Unique: The top can be opened in two stages at any speed [Vmax of the
smart cabrio: 155 km/h].
The top takes about 12 seconds to completely open.
The tops lines are more clipped than those of the normal fortwo and the
B-pillar is more strongly tilted. These features give the smart cabrio more
coup-like lines that look very athletic and dynamic.
Diversity and individuality are very important attributes for smart. The 10
body panel colors, 6 tridion colors, 2 convertible top colors, 5 radiator
coverings, and 4 interior variants generate 2,400 variants for the design
alone.

Positioning
The smart among four-seaters.
For its segment, the car offers extremely compact exterior dimensions,
lots of space inside for four occupants, and a very versatile cargo concept.
Whats more, it requires comparatively little road surface.
The forfour also contains the smart DNA, consisting of a rear-mounted
engine concept and great agility combined with maximum interior utility.
It is the optimal solution if more of a smart is needed in urban or metropolitan areas.
Highlights
The forfours innovative cargo concept is characterized by ready space
seats in the rear that can be quickly folded down and considerably lowered. Moreover, the rear doors can be opened by up to 85.
Due to its rear-mounted engine and length of 3.49 meters, the forfour has
a turning circle of only 8.65 meters.
The new smart forfour has a large cargo capacity. Folding down the rear
backrests creates a level loading surface of 1,285 x 996 mm and a cargo
volume of up to 975 liters. These are record values for the segment. The
loading length is also impressive: If the backrest of the front passenger
seat is folded down, the loading length is 2.22 meters.
The smart forfours standard equipment includes a comprehensive safety
concept, featuring the tridion safety cell, Crosswind Assist, a knee airbag,
and automatic seat-belt tensioners in the rear. The latter are without
parallel in this segment.
