Step by Step Guide to 4400 Calibration.

If problems with flow failure are experienced during calibration, it may be


advisable to temporarily disconnect the pipework and inject gas directly into the
sensors. Remembering to reconnect the pipework on completion.
The following is a step by step guide to calibrating the 4400 Sampling System Sensors. For any other
functions consult the 4400 Operating Manual for full menu options.
Please note that when in the menus, using the UP or DOWN buttons will ultimately achieve the same
thing as the menus wrap around and start again at the beginning. All buttons and display screens
referred to are on the internal control box.
To enter the menu system power down and re-apply power. The screen will display

followed by
TRANSFERRING SYSTEM

At this point press and hold down the MENU button until the display shows
SYSTEM TRANSFERRED
MENU
PARAMETERS

quickly followed by
This is the Main Menu screen

Now press the UP button to cycle through the options until display shows
MENU
TECHNICIAN MENU

now press SELECT

Display will show


TECHNICIAN MENU
This is the Technician Menu screen
SET NO OF CHANNELS
Press the UP button to cycle through the options until display shows
TECHNICIAN MENU
CALIBRATE SENSOR

press SELECT and display will show

SELECT SENSOR
FLAMMABLE
If this is the sensor to be calibrated press SELECT or alternatively press DOWN
until the required sensor is displayed ( for H2S or O2 ) and then press SELECT.

Now apply the calibration gas and monitor the display, it will show
SELECT TO ACCEPT
00047 (typical)

this line shows the gas concentration detected and will


rise up to a stable value

when the value has stabilised and is no longer rising press SELECT ( even if the
display does not show the correct concentration of the gas applied ) the display will
now show
quickly followed by

DATA ACCEPTED
SELECT VALUE
00047

this line now represents the concentration, the system should be


set at ( the same as on the gas bottle )

Press the UP or DOWN buttons until the display shows the correct concentration, for
example;
SELECT VALUE
00050 ( or 25 for H2S )

Now press SELECT

The display now goes back to


TECHNICIAN MENU
SET NO OF CHANNELS

Press DOWN until

TECHNICIAN MENU
EXIT SUB MENU

and press SELECT to exit the Technician Menu

( Alternatively repeat the steps above to calibrate another sensor. )


Display now shows the main menu screen
MENU
PARAMETERS

press DOWN until

MENU
EXIT MENU

is displayed and press SELECT to exit the Main Menu

This will exit the menu system and turn on channel 1, displaying
EXIT MENU
CHANNEL 1
At this point it is necessary to again remove and re-apply power to the system. This
will store the new data and the calibration results. When the system re-starts it will be
successfully calibrated.
