What different subjects are taught?

I was in Albahja School which is located in Ajman.


My MST was teacher Makya which teach Math and
Arabic. The class included 20 students of girls and
boys. They take new number for per week. And also
in Arabic they take new letter for each week.

What did you enjoy most about your practicum?

Actually I enjoyed while I was there. Because the


teachers and stuff there were so helpful. The most
reason why I enjoyed and loved the school was the
students because they were lovely.

What challenges did you face?

The challenge that I go through it was how to deal


with powerful students and manage the class.

What did you do to show your commitment to your


job as a teacher in the school?

Be on time and ask the teacher if can I help or do

How did you collaborate with your MST and other
teachers in the school?

I collaborate with teacher Makya in her lessons by


doing different activities and tasks with students.
And with other teacher when I sat in the teachers
room I take and give with them about the strategies
that can be used for kindergarten student and new
curriculum system.

Describe a typical day in your school.

Planning for Learning


Talk about the process of planning for lessons. How
did your MST go about this? How did you plan to
ensure you worked within the curriculum?
Firstly, before each lesson I had planned to teach in
the school. I sat with my MST and talk about the
lesson of the week. I ask her what types of activities
that help and like students to do and she feels it
works with them. And I brought my materials I
have used it for the lesson before one day and show
my MST.

What did you learn about planning during the


practicum?
Planning lesson shows that you are interested and
prepare for the lesson. I learned each time I planned
for a lesson what specific strategies I have to choose
and what kind/types of activities work during the
class time.
What challenges did you face when preparing your
lesson plans?
Mostly, I didnt find challenges. But in my first time
planning I felt hard because I didnt know what
technique and strategies the students goes in. but
day by day I learned and know what works well.
Explain how you planned for teaching speaking and
listening.

Implementing and Managing Learning


What strategies did you use to manage the children?
I used reward system, as I learned from my MST. By
using it I get all students attention and interact with
lesson.
Which were the most effective strategies you observed
your MST using in the classroom?
The most effective strategy was praising students and
using reward system was effective and work well.

Describe a lesson you taught and the way in which you


implemented the lesson class work, group work, and
individual work. How successful was this for you?
My math lessons were my best lessons I taught at the
practices days. I started with song or story as opining.
Then, using online games or presentations to let
students recognize the lesson. After that, individual
work like: write the number on small boards. Then,
the activities were in three different groups. At the
end, come back to the circle time and make a closing
about the lesson.
Explain the stages and how you taught listening and
speaking as an integrated process.
What strategies did you employ to teach speaking
/listening activities?

Open songs that include listening and sing the song


develop speaking skill.

Changing the voice level.


What do you have to take into consideration when

teaching speaking/listening activities?

Focus on activities may develop their speaking such


as: spell words, read the word loudly. For listening:

What did you do to appear well organized when in the
schools? (refer to organizing your time, portfolio, tasks

Be on time and sign in in the morning sheets. Come
before students and put materials in the class and
prepare it for students.

Why do you think its important to be well organized


when in the school?
That shows to your MST how you are serious and
planned for lessons. Also, it will help me to know the
important content that I have to present it in the
school.
Have your organization and planning skills improved?
Yes - in what way? No - what steps can you take to
improve in this area?
Yes sure, it improved as I saw in myself what I
organized and planned in my first teaching to the last
time I taught. Was developed and I got the control of
class and see in students how they learned or
understand from my teaching by organization.

Reflection
What has been your most powerful learning throughout
the practicum?

Dealing with children and control the whole class.

What was the most helpful feedback you received


during the placement?

That I have to use different lesson opening between


lesson and other. Because, repeating same techniques
may let students get bored. Using different ways while
teaching also let students learn and get their
attention.

What challenges did you face when writing your


reflections?

That was sometimes the same routines or feedback of


the last lesson. So, sometimes I didnt find something
new to write about it.

Were you able to make links between what you did at


college and what you observed or experienced during
TP? Give an example.
Yes, the kind of different activities of low, medium
and high level. Using also, the five Es in the lesson.
What do you think are important things to study at
college to ensure that you are well prepared for TP?
The strategies, using bloom taxonomy in our lesson
plans, five Es and Ms.Anntoinet presentations. Also,
explain the students booklet was so helpful and
useful. I discover al things that I have to collect and
search for in the practice days from it.

- The trainee teacher must have prepared and
organization skills that show to MST that you are
really work and want to develop your skills. Also
giving and take with MST may improve the
teaching skills on us and know about her
experience.

The transition task, I learned how to use
techniques to make a good transitions.

What changes would you make to the observation

The chit chat, some of the points were government
students not using it or not in the starategy.
