1 Overview
The effective management and exploitation of information through IT has become a key contributor to
strategic and operational success of most businesses today. This has resulted in IT management being
increasingly challenged to align IT with the business strategy and to understand how IT adds value to the
business.
The Open Groups Enterprise Architecture Framework (TOGAF) enables organizations to address this
need, by providing a strategic context for the evolution of the IT systems in response to the constantly
changing needs of the business environment.
A well-designed, correctly planned and successfully implemented Enterprise Architecture offers the
following benefits to an organization:
Professionals who are working in roles associated with an architecture project such as those
responsible for planning, execution, development, delivery and operation;
Individuals who require a deeper understanding of TOGAF 9.1
Professionals who are working in an organization where TOGAF 9.1 has been adopted and
who need to participate in architecture projects and initiatives
Architects who will be responsible for developing architecture artefacts
Architects who wish to introduce TOGAF 9.1 into an architecture practice
Architects who want to achieve a recognized qualification to demonstrate their detailed
knowledge of TOGAF 9.1
4. Prerequisite Knowledge
A prior knowledge of or Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, IT Architecture or IT Project
Management is advantageous but not required.
During the course students will become familiar with the TOGAF Version 9.1 body of knowledge.

Classroom style - combining lecture, discussion & exercises utilizing course materials, digital projector &
flipchart
6. Scope of the Training
At the end of the training participants will:
Be able to use the techniques defined for use in Architecture development including:
o Stakeholders involved and their role, concerns + look at views and Viewpoints
o Architecture Principles and Architecture patterns, views and viewpoints
o Business Scenarios, with goals & objectives
o Planning and analysis techniques
o Interoperability
o Assessing & Readiness of the business
o Managing risk
Gain sound understanding of the Architecture Content Framework and the purpose / content of
each of the elements including:
o Content Metamodel
o Architecture building blocks and their relationships to the ADM
o Architecture Artefacts
o Architecture Deliverables
Have a detailed understanding of the concepts, taxonomy and graphical representations of the
TOGAF Reference Models and their application, including:
o Foundation Architecture
o Technical Reference Mode (TRM)
o Integrated Information Infrastructure Reference Model (III-RM)
o Applications and Service
o Qualities
o Understand boundary-less information flow
o The Standards Information Base
o Core metamodel concepts
7. Assessment
TOGAF 9 Combined Part 1 & 2 Exam
It consists of 2 sections with pass marks as per TOGAF Part 1 and 2 examinations described below.
Certification is only achieved by passing the 2 sections. If you fail a section then no certification is
awarded until you retake the failed section.
Part 1 Foundation: Multiple Choice
40 Questions / 60 minutes
Pass mark 55% (22 or more points out of a maximum of 40)
This exam comprises 40 questions in simple multiple choice format; covering the Level 1
learning outcomes.
Each correct answer scores a single point.
Closed book exam section
8 Questions / 90 minutes
Pass mark 60% (24 or more points out of a maximum of 40)
This exam comprises 8 complex scenario questions, with gradient scoring.
This exam is open book and covers the complete Level 2 learning outcomes.
The correct answer scores 5 points, the second best answer 3 points, and the third best
answer 1 point.
The distracter scores zero points.
