1. TOGAF 9.

1 Overview
The effective management and exploitation of information through IT has become a key contributor to
strategic and operational success of most businesses today. This has resulted in IT management being
increasingly challenged to align IT with the business strategy and to understand how IT adds value to the
business.
The Open Groups Enterprise Architecture Framework (TOGAF) enables organizations to address this
need, by providing a strategic context for the evolution of the IT systems in response to the constantly
changing needs of the business environment.
A well-designed, correctly planned and successfully implemented Enterprise Architecture offers the
following benefits to an organization:

Improved ability to respond to new business demands

Improved ability to introduce new technology
Greater business value from IT operations
Faster, simpler, cheaper procurement
Faster time-to-market

2. TOGAF 9.1 Training

The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is becoming the de facto international certification for
Architects at all levels. The Open Group updated the TOGAF architecture framework to TOGAF 9.1
Enterprise Edition in 2012.
A lot of the work on TOGAF 9 was around not just what architecture should have, but how to make it work
within business and technology scenarios. TOGAF 9 is a detailed method and set of supporting resources
for developing an Enterprise Architecture within a business. It represents an industry consensus
framework and methodology for enabling business execution.
The TOGAF course prepares delegates for certification against the current TOGAF 9 best practice as
understood by Architects worldwide and documented under The Open Groups Architecture Framework.
The opportunity to obtain this certification is also included in the course.
The purpose of certification to TOGAF 9 Foundation, is to provide validation that the Candidate has
gained knowledge of the terminology, structure, and basic concepts of TOGAF 9, and understands the
core principles of Enterprise Architecture and TOGAF. The learning objectives at this level focus on
knowledge and comprehension.
The purpose of certification for TOGAF 9 Certified, is to provide validation that in addition to the
knowledge and comprehension of TOGAF 9 Foundation, the candidate is able to analyze and apply this
knowledge. The learning objectives at this level therefore focus on application and analysis in addition to
knowledge and comprehension.
Certification is only achieved by passing the two examinations, Level 1 TOGAF 9 Foundation and Level 2
TOGAF 9 Certified.
3. Course Audience
The target audience for TOGAF 9.1 certified training includes but is not limited to:

Professionals who are working in roles associated with an architecture project such as those
responsible for planning, execution, development, delivery and operation;
Individuals who require a deeper understanding of TOGAF 9.1

Professionals who are working in an organization where TOGAF 9.1 has been adopted and
who need to participate in architecture projects and initiatives
Architects who will be responsible for developing architecture artefacts
Architects who wish to introduce TOGAF 9.1 into an architecture practice
Architects who want to achieve a recognized qualification to demonstrate their detailed
knowledge of TOGAF 9.1

4. Prerequisite Knowledge
A prior knowledge of or Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysis, IT Architecture or IT Project
Management is advantageous but not required.
During the course students will become familiar with the TOGAF Version 9.1 body of knowledge.
5. Delivery Method
