Verbal/ linguistic

Ancient Greeks often did not write down their stories. Even
Aesops Fables were told through word of mouth and not written
down till much later.

Musical/ rhythmic

Read through either myths or stories that the Ancient Greeks


told. Then try to be the storyteller by telling one to the class
without reading the words. Dont forget the moral!

Dance was very important to the ancient Greeks. They believed


that dance improved both physical and emotional health. There
were more than 200 ancient Greek dances. Dance was
accompanied by music played on lyres, flutes, and a wide variety
of percussion instruments such as tambourines, cymbals and
castanets.

Logical/ mathematical
The Ancient Greeks were strong warriors and often fought many
battles amongst the different polis. They used different types of
inventions to conquer them.

Research these instruments, then recreate one of them the best


you can. Bring it in to share with the class and tell us how it
was used. Do we still use this instrument or is there another
one similar.
Free Choice (Student Choice)
Find out something else you think sounds interesting. Research it
during this time. Figure out some way to depict or demonstrate it
and share it with the class.

Research the use of catapults and how they were designed to


win in those wars. Complete the catapult challenge by creating
your own catapult. You use various materials such as cans,
rubber bands. Create two catapults with various materials.
The challenge is to get 5 cotton balls into the container.

Visual
Art was also important to ancient Greeks; they created elaborate
mosaics for decoration as well as flooring.
Online or in art books look at pictures. Then design and create
your own mosaic using either: tile, beads or paper. Then write
two to four sentences describing your artwork.

Bodily/ Kinesthetic
The Olympics games began 3,000 years ago in ancient Greece with
a series of athletic competitions. These games were held in honor
of Zeus. The games that they competed in were chariot racing,
marathon running, wrestling, and Pentathlon.
Research about the ancient Olympics and recreate the
Olympics games. However, at first design and recreate the
sporting instruments for the Olympic games.

Naturalistic
Along the coastline, the soil was not very fertile, but the ancient
Greeks used systems of irrigation and crop rotation to help solve
that problem. They grew olives, grapes, and figs. They also grew
wheat to make bread. Fish, seafood, and homemade wine were very
popular food items.
Find a traditional Greek recipe. Copy it down for the class to
see, and then prepare the food. Write a quick review of what
you thought about it. NOTE- you MUST make the food, you
may not buy it at a restaurant.

Interpersonal
Ancient Greeks used the theatre and festivals to honor their gods.
In their daily life would go to the theatre to watch and relate to
tragedies and comedies. Sometimes these tragedies and comedies
relate to the politics and gods in some form.
With a group of classmates create your own tragedy or comedy.
Design the your costumes, masks, and scene. Then you will act
in front of your classmates.

Spatial
The Acropolis and Parthenon were major structures in Ancient
Greece. Their construction was monolithic and the ruins still
remain today.
Research what these structures looked like and create a 3-D
model of one of them. This should be as accurate as possible.
