Message from The Head of Department

The world of materials science is witnessing a revolution in the exploration of matter at the nanoscale.
Nanotechnology is one of the emerging technologies of 21st century. The field of nanotechnology requires
people with fair background in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and as well as in electrical,
mechanical, metallurgy and chemical engineering. The selection policy of the centre revolves around the
same thing to bring together people of various backgrounds to carry out interdisciplinary research
activities. The faculties drawn from various departments associated with the centre are engaged in
various projects dedicated to nanoelectronics such as nanowires, nanomedicine such as anti-bacterial,
anti-cancer and imaging systems, energy applications such as new generation batteries, supercapacitors
and solar cells. The course structure of the centre is specially designed to make the students acquainted
to nanotechnology and to train the students in nano related areas with a desire to constantly update their
knowledge in order to launch them into the demands of the R&D sector. Our centre has effectively supported the students for
internships in best academic institutions in the past and will continue to do the same in the future. This has helped them in
enhancing their professional skills as well as having an access to world class technology. The centre has reviewed its course
structure and policy from time to time to keep our students at the forefront of technology. I do confidently say that this year's batch
can very well adapt to the demands of the corporate sector if the students of the batch get placement opportunity under campus
recruitment. I wish them best of luck for their future endeavors.
