Masthead designs

I designed my masthead using the colour scheme I have followed throughout the planning. These consist
of pale pinks and light greys. The two designs are quite similar.
The first design was inspired by the masthead for the magazine Indie. I like how it is simple but still
effective and have tried to replicate some features of it such as the line through the title. It has a
dominating title and tagline and less important features such as the issue date and number are smaller
as they are insignificant to the reader. The design is rather neat, aligned and uncluttered which I quite
like. It is also versatile and could be altered to suit the main image simply by changing its colour or even
making it transparent and making it superimpose the image.
The second design features whites and pinks and is rather plain but still eye-catching to the audience
due to the large title. The other features are smaller and beneath the title as they are less important.
Font Analysis
I decided to use Century Gothic as it is a rather plain font but still bold. Simplicity in mastheads is
important to me as it avoids the attention being taken away from the main image or other key features
of the magazine. Im using a serif font because its informal; typically young people and teenagers are
informal and casual so having informal, serif text makes the magazine look more fun and less informative.
