classroom for Student A. A lamp by the students desk
may be used. Upon entering the room, student A can
have assistance from teacher or peer to make the
transition safe and easy. If activity is too demanding for
student to complete while moving the student may stay
seated and complete it instead.

Students will enter this lesson displaying prior knowledge on

the sun. Students understanding will grow more in depth by
the end of the lesson after specific properties are identified and
discussed. The lesson below allows students to grasp these
concepts while implementing PA standards.

Ask students if the sun was out when they came to
school today.
Asks students if it was cold or warm when they came to
school today.
Hook/Lead-In/Anticipatory Set
The instructor is going to engage the students by having
all the windows in the room covered with paper when
they walk in. Students will question why the room is so
dark.

needs to be better lit. Students will discuss how the room
needs to be warmer.
Transition
Before children move back to their assigned seats, they
will work together to remove the paper from the windows
to allow natural light to come in and change the dynamic
of the room.
