CEO/President & Vice President of Leisure Futures, LLC

I hope that this business letter finds you both in good spirits. My name is Maya Manley, and I am the
director of the legal department and head of counsel here at our company Leisure Futures, LLC. I am
contacting both of you to elaborate more thoroughly on the importance of legal issues and risk
management within the managerial environment. Considering that you, Dr. Meyer-Rodriguez, are the
CEO/President and you, Dr. Esteban Wozniak, are the Vice President of this company I am certain that
there is a broad understanding of this topic already. Allow me to narrow the topic a bit more and focus
on 6 summary points to help everyone here understand the significance. I am a firm believer that what
happens at the highest level of the pyramid (that being you two in this instance) will eventually trickle
down on to the latter parts, whether that be positive/negative working skills, abilities, or traits.
Risk management, in broad terms, is defined as the process in which an organization distinguishes and
alleviates any liability risks that may come from that specific activity. Preventive law is thus related to
risk management in that it means to view all possible risks that hold the potential to negatively affect the
organizations financial health and overall success. There are five steps that are followed when carrying
out the process of preventive law: identification of risks, assessment of risks, evaluation of risks,
development and implementation of preventive law plan. Both risk management and preventive law
characteristics are connected to certain management areas (i.e. strategic planning, organizational
culture, and public relations). (Guest speaker Toni Liehty)
With the rise of technology for millennials to gravitate towards and the vast amounts of social media
applications much of the importance for such legal issues and risk management procedures comes into
play. For example, the social media application Twitter has become an open platform used for
interaction and communication via athletes and other sports figures. Due to this application being a
source of contact directly from the athlete to the public, lawyers and other individuals involved in legal
issues must understand the possible consequences involved around such. Secondly, contracts are a
part of sports legal issues and a standard of rules and regulations for not only players but others
employed (because in broad perspective every single individual is considered a worker/employee of
that organization) as well and even the spectators can help to regulate and minimize possible negative
consequences. Lastly, a rule book to help assist everyone on and off the court on how they should
conduct themselves can help any individual before facing a situation in providing them with the
knowledge to assess the problem and tackle it correctly before help from hierarchal figures within the
department are needed.

Leisure Futures, LLC

In 2010 Sharp, and a few others, wrote an article that ties your management positions at Leisure
Futures perfectly to risk management and liability titled Managerial Strategies to Minimize Liability.
Sharp attributes the overall success of an organization to one that focuses on safety development and
minimizing losses (i.e. financial, target markets/demographics, etc.). Thus the preventive law programs
purpose is to be utilized as an additive to our companys core values. From there control of those risks
require implementation of various strategies in order to minimize possibilities. However, this can only
occur after creation and application of a prevention plan post steps one through three of preventive law
process.
I hope that this letter not only summarizes various legal terms involving risk management, but also
validates the importance of such in regards to Leisure Futures, LLC. I look forward to collaborating with
you both as well as other within my legal department on improvement and growth of this matter.
