II. Symptomatic Treatments (Selected

Methods)
A. Mid-day Mid-night Circadian (Simplified Systems)
This is an extremely complicated and powerful treatment
system in acupuncture. Considerations include:
Years (60 years cycle)
Moon signs (month)
Days of each month
Time (hours) of the day
The ten pivots and the twelve branches
Five elements
It is not practical in modern medical practices. Today, we
discuss a simplified system, based only on hours of the day
and meridians correlation, which can be applied easily at any
hour, day, month and year. The primary function is immediate
symptomatic (pain) control.

IV. Constitutional Balance

There are many ways to achieve an
individuals constitutional balance.
Today, we discuss the KHT System
specifically. In my experience, this is
the most effective and fastest way to
achieve this goal.

Yang Excess Syndrome

Organs/meridians in excess state:
Liver, heart, pericardium, large intestine, stomach,
urinary bladder
Organs/meridians in deficient state:
Spleen, lungs, kidney, gall bladder, small intestine,
triple heater
Yang excess syndrome most commonly affects the left side. First diagnostic clue
would be fullness and tenderness at ST-25 on the same side. As the condition is
successfully treated (balanced). The tenderness (or sensitive reactive point) on ST25 will disappear.
Symptoms: Headaches, pain at T1 and cervico-dorsal-scapular area, insomnia,
hypertension, peptic ulcer. Low back pain, impotency, pain in extremities and
lingering cold symptoms. Emotional and psychiatric problems are common
(dreams of sex with demons). Symptoms tend to reduce in the morning, worse from
afternoon on.
Contraindications: Needle CV-12 (Ren-12)

Kidney Excess Syndrome

Organs/meridians in excess state:
K, LR, Lu, Si, ST, TH
Organs/meridians in deficient state:
HT, PC, SP, BL, GB, Li
Yin excess syndrome most commonly affects the right side. Abdominal
palpation found a lump under the umbilicus, fullness, and tender at CV-7 and
CV-5 (spreading sensitivity along the abdominal part of conception vessel).
Symptoms: Occipital headaches, stiffness, right shoulder (scapular pain,
anorexia, constipation, rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, hypotension, acid reflux,
dermatitis, red cheeks, hernias, GU and GYN problems, infertility, and chronic
fatigue.
Contraindications: Needle CV-12

31

Yin Excess Syndrome

Organs/meridians in excess state:
SP, Lu, HT, PC, GB, BL
Organs/meridians in deficient state:
LR, Ki, ST, Li, Si, TW. Palpitation found tenderness at SP-15.
Symptoms: Big eaters, greedy, sleepers, over-weight, anemia, kyphosis C7,
protruding T3, 4, 5 depressed, neuralgia, chest pain, sciatica, CNS diseases,
diabetes conditions worse at night.
Contraindications: Needle Li-4, Li-11, LR-3, ST-36
Most effective treatment for Yin excess is CV-12 (besides constitutional
balance).

By no means that this is the only way to treat a patient with acupuncture. There are
different interpretations and uses of these terms and methods that I have put together. I
find that this is the most cost-effective and time-effective combination with
comprehensive consideration to the patients energetic system.

Pharmacokinetics vs. Acu-kinetics

Pharmacodynamics:
What is the drug doing to our body?
Effects on target site
Effects on other organs
Toxicity, etc.
Acu-dynamics:
What would happen if I stimulate this acupuncture point this way at this time?
Pharmokinetics:
What is the body going to the drug?
Means of delivery
Absorption
Blood/target concentration
Volume of distribution
Half-life
Biotransformation and elimination, etc.
Acu-kinetics:
How is the body perceiving this point(s)
Stimulation and use for our benefit, to pursue and main your best personal state, and to
reject the undesirable effects.
