- The fume hood is equipped with an
alarm that will be triggered when the
sash is not adjusted to the safe
Administrative Controls:
- Users to always ensure the sash of
a fume hood is adjusted to the safe
level before commencing work. This is
to pre-empt the situation of an alarm
malfunction
- Lecturer-incharge to conduct a
safety briefing and demonstrate to
students the safe work procedures for
the conduct of the activity
- Student to read and understand
Safety Datasheet (SDS) for sodium
bicarbonate and acetic acid - Follow
first aid measures in SDS in case of
skin/ eye contact and inhalation of
chemicals. Seek medical advice
immediately.
- Emergency shower and eyewash are
available.
- First aid box is available and TSO is
qualified first aider.
