MODIFY TOOLS

Copy object, Mirror, Offset, Array, Move, Rotate, Scale,


Stretch, Trim, Extend, Break, Chamfer, Fillet, Donut

The MODIFY Toolbar


This is what the modify toolbar looks like (if you don't see

it, check the modify box in 'view - toolbars'):

The modify tools (from left to right):

Erase, Copy, Mirror, Offset, Array, Move, Rotate, Scale,


Stretch, Lengthen, Trim, Extend, Break at point, Break,
Chamfer, Fillet, Explode.

COPY
1)Select the copy button, then select the object(s) to
copy then hit return (or right click)
2) Select the base point where to copy from (For
example if copying a circle, it would be sensible for the
base point to be the centre of the circle)
3)Enter the second point of displacement - this is
where the new base point of the copied objects is to be
positioned.

MULTIPLE COPY
Command: copy, ENTER
Select object, object found, ENTER

Select M for multiple


Click displacement point,
Click on where you want to copy, as many times as you

want.

MIRROR
The mirror command will create a mirror image of any

selected drawing elements along any line of symmetry


specified by the user.
Firstly, draw an object.

MIRROR
Command: mirror, ENTER
Select object: (click on the object you want to mirror)
1 object found: ENTER
Specify 1st point of mirror line: pick a point
Specify 2nd pt of mirror line: pick a point
Delete source object? [Yes/No]: N
ENTER
You can mirror your object anywhere you like.
Experiment.

OFFSET

ARRAY
There are 2 types of array which can be constructed:
Polar, constructed around a centre

Rectangular, constructed in rows & columns.

POLAR ARRAY
Firstly, draw 2 circles & polygon.
Circle 1: Centrepoint 100,100; Diameter 100

Circle 2: Centrepoint 100,100, Diameter 120


Polygon: 5-sided, Centerpoint 100,185;

Radius 20

POLAR ARRAY
Now, call the array tool.
Command: array (or ar), ENTER

The array dialog window will appear.


Set to Polar Array.
Click on Select objects.
Click on the polygon.
1 object found, ENTER

The array dialog will reappear.

POLAR ARRAY
Enter 10 in the Total number of item field.
Enter 360 in the Angle to fill field.
Click on Center point box. The dialog will go away again.

Click on the centre point of the circle.


The dialog box will reappear. Click on OK.
The dialog will go away.
You will see your result now.
We will now try using Rectangular array tool.

RECTANGULAR ARRAY

Firstly, draw an object.


Call the array tool. The array dialog will appear.
Set the following:
Set Rectangular array on,
Rows: 3
Columns: 10
Row offset: -90
Column offset: 35
Now, click on Select object.
Pick your object. 1 found. ENTER
The dialog box will reappear. Now, click OK.
The array forms.

SCALE
Draw the following object:
Circle 1: Centre point 100,100; Diameter 40

Circle 2: Centre point 100,125; Diameter 10


Polar array small circle 12 times around big circle.
Copy this object 6 times (use multiple).

SCALE
Command: scale, ENTER
Select object: 13 found, ENTER

Specify base point: click on centre of circle


Type in scale factor: 2
The object is now 2:1.

Repeat with scale factor 1.5, 1.25, 0.75, 1, 3 etc.

FILLET
Construct any object using Line command.
Call the fillet tool. Or type fillet, ENTER

Select 1st object or []: r (for radius)


Specify the fillet radius: say 30
Select 1st object: pick
Select 2nd object: pick

CHAMFER
Construct a rectangular using Line command.
Call the chamfer tool.

Select 1st line or []: d (for distance)


Specify the distance: say 30
Select 1st line: pick
Select 2nd line: pick

Trim
