When you wake up , drink 1-1.5 lit lukewarm water without brushing. Yes, you may brush your
teeth the night before. This should be drunk sip by sip as if we are sipping tea/coffee. The saliva is
alkaline in nature & it helps to neutralize the acidity of stomach. Preferably ,squeeze a lemon &
some honey into it. You should not drink or eat 45 min after that. It rehydrates your dehydrated
body, flushes unwanted toxins out of your body, kick starts your metabolism. So, begin your day
with warm water.
Do not drink water when you are eating. Drink after 90 -120 min after Or 30 min before eating.
As per Ayurveda, when we eat something, a burner is ignited in our stomach , it is called
jatharagni. It helps in digestion of food. As per modern science, several digestive enzymes and
gastric juices including hydrochloric acid are produced in stomach for digesting the food we eat.
The food is usually digested in two hours of time when these acids are in concentrated form.
These get diluted when water mixes with it. This results in poor digestion & leads to accumulation
of toxic waste in the body as all the nutrients are not absorbed properly. Drinking of iced water,
soft drinks, sodas, tea or coffee or alcohol is strictly no-no. Remember, do not drink water while
eating.
The dinner/ last meal of the day should be taken half an hour before sunset. Our biological clock
is set according to the sunrise-sunset. When the sun is right above us, our digestive fire performs
at its peak. The food eaten at night time does not get properly digested since the digestive
system becomes inactive during the night owing to the absence of sunlight and we face the
problem of indigestion. The metabolism rate slows down during these hours as we do not indulge
in any physical activity which helps in digestion. This leads to increase in weight as the undigested
food gets stored in the form of fats.Therefore, do not take food after sunset.
Eat breakfast like a king and dinner like a pauper. People who eat their largest, most calorierich meal at breakfast are more likely to lose weight and have a lower risk of developing diseases
linked with body weight such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, and high
cholesterol .Experiment- Researcher Daniela Jakubowicz and her colleagues studied 93 obese
women with metabolic syndrome . They were provided with a 1,400-calorie diet for 12 weeks.
The participants were divided into two groups; half ate 700 calories at breakfast, 500 calories at
lunch, and 200 calories at dinner, while the other half ate the reverse: 200 calories at breakfast,
500 calories at lunch, and 700 calories at dinner. Both groups lost weight, however, the large
breakfast eaters lost substantially more (18 pounds compared to 8 pounds) and lost more inches
from their waists (3 inches versus 1.4). If you want to lose weight, do not skip bf & have
breakfast like a king.
Fellow toastmasters, in conclusion, drinking a litre water when you get up, not drinking while
eating , not having heavy food after sunset & having a heavy breakfast will help you lose weight.
In a next marriage function, I want to meet the same cousin & I want her to tell me Is that
