Sleigh Bells will be ringing on

Carson Street

ew to the Silver & Snowflakes Festival of Lights

experience this year is the introduction of free horse
and carriage rides along Carson and Curry Streets
between 4:30-7 p.m.

We thought we would create even more of a hometown holiday

experience to this years tree lighting event by introducing a new
attraction sure to be popular with families.
Weve engaged the Borges Family of South Lake Tahoe to bring their
beautiful carriage and magnificent horses to downtown Carson City
on Friday night, Dec. 2 to recreate the Christmas card of yesteryear
when the primary means of transportation was horse and carriage. The
carriage will hold up to four adults and two children.
Since 1969, The Borges Family has been operating their carriage rides
around South Lake and in Genoa, pulled by 2000-pound Belgian draft
horses referred to as gentle giants.

Maggie and Major: New to this years program is the appearance of the Borges Family Sleigh Ride.

Willow Reindeer
Project honored by
Governor

he week of Dec.2-9 has been

declared Willow Reindeer
Week in honor of the many
lighted willow reindeer found all along
Carson Street during the holiday season.
Bill Goulardt, creator of the Willow
Reindeer project, has been teaching grade
school children how to create willow
sculptures since 1998. With past grants
from the Carson City Redevelopment
Authority, Bill purchased the materials and
gave businesses the reindeer to display.
Volunteers help distribute and pick up the
many reindeer. He also has taught children
in the Washoe and Douglas County school
districts and is striving to make this into
the largest art project in the United States.

The scene on the button features

Santa Claus leading children in
song. It will be a perfect holiday
accent on sweaters and coats.
Proceeds benefit the Carson City
Library youth program.
The Chamber Artisan Shop is open
Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. 5 p.m.
1900 S. Carson Street at the Nevada
