Lead-Free Solder
This product is manufactured using lead-free solder as a part of a movement within the consumer
products industry at large to be environmentally responsible. Lead-free solder must be used in the
servicing and repair of this product.
WARNING
This product is manufactured using lead free solder. DO NOT USE LEAD BASED SOLDER TO
REPAIR THIS PRODUCT! The melting temperature of lead-free solder is higher than that of leaded
solder by 86 F to 104 F (30 C to 40 C). Use of a soldering iron designed for lead-based
solders to repair product made with lead-free solder may result in damage to the component and
or PCB being soldered. Great care should be made to ensure high-quality soldering when
servicing this product especially when soldering large components, through-hole pins, and on
PCBs - as the level of heat required to melt lead-free solder is high.

Prevention of Physical Injury

4. The machine drives some of its components when it completes the warm-up period. Be careful to
keep hands away from the mechanical and electrical components as the machine starts operation.
5. When replacing the battery in the product, use only the specified type of battery. If an unspecified
type of battery is used, it may explode or break.

Observance of Electrical Safety Standards

The machine and its peripherals must be serviced by a customer service representative who has
completed the training course on those models.
This product is also designed for an IT power distribution system with phase-to-phase voltage 230V.

Be sure not to keep in a place where there is a lot of humidity, oil mist, and dust.
If you install the machine in a location exposed to high temperatures, we recommend that you
specify a low humidity (60% or lower) when operating the machine.
Be sure not to plug up any ventilation hole during installation.
When moving, disconnect the power cord, VGA cable and network line.
Be sure not to place this machine on other apparatus, or not to put other apparatus on this
machine.
Be sure to connect the grounding terminal of the power plug with the ground.
Be sure not to use it in a place where ventilation is poor.

Installation Space Requirements

Be sure to provide sufficient space for wiring of cables and ventilation.

Wall Mounting Precautions

A VESA-compliant bracket is required to mount the main unit on a wall.
When mounting a VESA-compliant bracket, use the bracket that corresponds to 100 100 mm
(3.94 3.94inches).
The weight of the main unit is about 5.3 kg (11.7 lb.). Use a mounting bracket that is sufficiently
strong enough to support the weight of the main unit.
When mounting the main unit on a wall or the ceiling, select a location that can withstand four
times the combined weight of the main unit and mounting bracket, such as a concrete wall or pillar.
When mounting a bracket, use M4 screws. Use all the VESA screw holes on the back.
Attach the bracket to the screw holes on the back of the machine.

3. Replacement and Adjustment

Notes on the Power Button
Characteristics of the Power Button
Power is supplied to the machine even when the power is turned OFF with the power button.
The power button in this machine uses DC (direct current). Therefore, if the AC power cord is
connected to an AC wall outlet, power is supplied to the main board, the operation unit and other
modules even when the power is turned OFF. When replacing the controller board and the
operation unit in this state, not only these boards, it will damage other electrical components.
So, when performing maintenance work such as replacing parts, in addition to turning off the
power with the power button, always unplug the AC power cord.
When you disconnect the power cord from the AC wall outlet, inside the machine there is still
residual charge.
When you disconnect the power cord from the AC wall outlet, inside the AC adapter for a while
there is still residual charge. Therefore, if you remove boards in this state, it can cause a blown fuse
or memory failure.
How to remove the residual charge inside the machine
To remove the residual charge, disconnect the AC adapter from the main machine. Thus, the
charge remaining in the machine is released, and it is possible to remove boards.

21

3. Replacement and Adjustment

Before Replacing Parts

Turn off the main power.
Remove the AC cord and the DC side of the AC adapter. This is because, when the AC adapter is
connected, the discharge time of the AC adapter is added to the time it takes to remove the
residual charge.
