GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE

My Brothers All,
This month we celebrate the birth our savior Jesus Christ.
In my family we always have a birthday cake with
one candle on it to remind us that He is the light of the
world.

In service
to one.
In service
to all.

The C&B books chairman, Paul Basileo and his

committee did an outstanding job. Don Flynns Irish charm
was overflowing. He had people giving us their last dollar.
He even had one woman empty her change purse into his
hands.
We will have our Christmas Party on Dec 10 and
tickets are going fast. If you are planning on attending
please contact Paul Basileo 631-375-7088 or
pbasileo1241@optonline.net.
I hope and pray that Santa bring you what you
asked for. I pray that I will not get coal in my socking this
year.
May you and your love ones have a Blessed
Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
May God bless you and your families.
Yours in Christ,

S.K. Frederick S. Hess

Journey to the Inn

In an increasingly secular world, many Catholics are faced

with the difficulty of sharing the faith. With the bustle of Christmas
shopping and the frequent removal of religious imagery from Christmas displays, it seems that communities have forgotten the incredible gift of Christ and the beauty of his birth.
Facing similar concerns when first introducing Christ to the
New World, Franciscan missionaries in the 16th century found that
simple reenactments of the story of Christs birth could touch the
hearts of those they encountered. The Spanish missionaries referred to these ceremonies as Las Posadas meaning the inns
or the shelters as they gave emphasis to Mary and Josephs
search for shelter before Our Saviors birth.
These festivities have remained popular throughout Latin
America and the southwestern United States, yet children and
adults from all cultural backgrounds can use similar celebrations to
embrace the true meaning of the Christmas season and share the

joy of Christs birth.

The tradition of the Posada helps us to remember the first Christmas in a way that unites people of
faith from throughout the American continent, said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. This event will bring
together people of many cultures, highlighting the fact that faith and the celebration of Christmas transcend
any differences we may have.

District Deputys Message

Brothers and Sisters,

December is upon us and we come to the end of another year.
Its always such a busy time, and it is no different for us in the Knights of Columbus. In addition to all of the hustle and bustle of the Advent Season, we still have to take care of business by making sure all of our end of
year paperwork is filled out and filed, especially the Fraternal Survey form, which is important because it is how our Order knows about all the great Charitable work our Councils have been doing all year.
However, that being said, there is one favor I would like to ask of all of you. As the days of December pass and
Christmas gets closer and closer, please try to remember what the season is truly all about. I know it's important to run
around and get all of your errands done. I know it's important to run around and get all of your shopping done. But
please don't forget to enjoy yourself and your family and friends this Christmas. Don't get yourself all stressed out and
uptight worrying about the little things. It doesn't matter. It's more important to celebrate the Joy and Love of Jesus,
who came into the world for you. Don't forget to welcome God's only Son into your home this Christmas. For without
Him there is no Christmas, there is no Joy, and there is no Love in the World.
On behalf of my wife Jessica and myself, I would like to wish all of you and your families a very Joyous and
Merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year.
Vivat Jesus

CHRISTMAS
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a

sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and
will call him Immanuel.

God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to
redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the
one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace
and truth.

Luke 1:30-35 But the angel said to her, Do not be

afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him
Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the
Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his
father David, and he will reign over Jacobs descendants
forever; his kingdom will never end. How will this be,
Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin? The angel
answered, The Holy Spirit will come to you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one
to be born will be called the Son of God.

A Fallen Star Has Passed By St. Jude Council

Our spiritual leader, Deacon Montford D. Naylor, has left his long-held position of Spiritual
Advisor at St. Jude Council to help others at an outside organization. This group needs his special spiritual advice and guidance.
A tremendous loss for us, but for another organization it is a tremendous blessing.
Deacon Monti served this Council with true dignity as a Deacon, a
Brother Knight and as a man of very high character & intelligence the
best that you would want to see in any man as an advisor to a Council.
He was remarkably sensitive to our Brother Knights
who needed advice and guidance. His spiritual conversations always covered
current events with clarity and kindness for all of us to understand.
We at St. Jude Council salute him with a farewell goodbye, and wish him
and his wife Margaret the best of everything in life.
May God bless Deacon Monti always and forever!
Vivat Jesus,
Richard Olivea, PGK, FDD

The Gospel of St. Luke

9Just then, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid! For behold, I bring you good
news of great joy that will be for all the people: 11Today in the City of David a Savior has been born
to you. He is Christ the Lord!

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney

God, our Father, protector of the poor and
defender of the widow and orphan, you called
your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be
an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the
young to the generous service of their neighbor.
Through the example of his life and virtue may
we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely,
fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the
inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your
love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and
the outcast.
We humbly ask that you glorify your servant Father Michael J.
McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will.
Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make
your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail
Mary, Glory be.
