Volunteer for the Ursuline Links Programme, New Orleans
August-September 2013

Travelled to New Orleans to do voluntary work with the St. Bernard project where we helped to repair houses damaged
by Hurricane Katrina.

I led my sub-team by allocating everyones roles and ensuring that we were able to successfully install floorboards,
kitchen tiles and bedroom shelves in the time we were given.

This gave me powerful insights into the vulnerability of a seemingly powerful nation and into the fragility of the lives of
its citizens.

As a delegate on the U.S Embassys Young Leaders UK Programme, I recently participated in an exclusive session on
leadership led by Simon Sinek and the U.S Ambassador, Matthew Barzun.
