x Preface
1 Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of the SecureTransport family, comprising

of the server and client applications. You can also find information on the
features supported by SecureTransport Windows client, hardware and software
prerequisites, and installation procedure of the SecureTransport Windows client
in this chapter. This chapter is organized into the following sections:
1.1 The SecureTransport Family ................................................................2
1.3 Hardware and Software Requirements .................................................5
1.4 Installing SecureTransport Windows Client .........................................7

1
1.1 The SecureTransport Family
SecureTransport is a family of secure file transfer software products which
helps in critical data interchange and automated document processing.
SecureTransport products provide high performance file transfer capabilities
and facilitate large-volume data movement. The SecureTransport family is
designed for the distribution and collection of commercially valuable files over
the Internet. SecureTransport products are fully compatible with FTP and HTTP
standards. In addition, SecureTransport integrates state-of-the-art security
standards such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and digital certificates (X.509).
SecureTransport is a client/server software, which consists of the
SecureTransport server and the SecureTransport client. The SecureTransport
server allows you to set up and maintain a secure file transfer site.
SecureTransport client turns your PC or UNIX workstation into a powerful,
secure, and reliable download and upload manager. SecureTransport client runs
both as a stand-alone application and as a web browser plug-in. SecureTransport
is scalable, which makes it an ideal building block for industrial-strength
extranet applications.
SecureTransport also guarantees extranet data delivery and data integrity while
protecting corporate bandwidth. The Auto Restart feature automatically re-
establishes broken connections and resumes transfers from where they were left
off.
The functionality of SecureTransport can be easily extended through
ActiveAgents™. ActiveAgents are transactional software agents that can initiate
events based on file transfers and can also feed information into back-end
applications such as databases, enterprise scheduling software, and network
printing operations. ActiveAgents also enable adding third-party functionality
to SecureTransport such as virus scanning, file format conversion, or additional
security mechanisms.

1.1.1 SecureTransport Clients

SecureTransport client is available on the following platforms:
• Windows
• UNIX
You can also use a standard web-browser such as Internet Explorer 5.0 (or
higher versions) or Netscape 4.7 (or higher versions) as a client.

2 Chapter 1: Introduction
SecureTransport Windows Client Features
SecureTransport Windows client provides high performance, reliable, and
secure transfer of critical business documents from the SecureTransport server
through the intranet, business extranet, or the Internet. SecureTransport
Windows client connects with the SecureTransport server and safely transmits
large documents, graphics, software, and a range of other file types to or from a
remote network site.
SecureTransport Windows client provides the following features:
• Support for the Auto Restart technology that provides unparalleled
reliability when transferring large files (100 MB - 16 GB) through
unreliable network connections, dial-up connections, overloaded servers,
or the Internet. Auto Restart allows you to restart a file transfer from where
the last transfer was stopped when the connection was interrupted or the
transfer terminated.
• Support for FTP, FTP over SSL, HTTP, or HTTPS file transfers.
• Email notification feature to notify in the event of a file transfer failure.
• Security through encryption of all communications using SSL.
• X.509 certificate support for authentication of client and server identities.
• Tunnel Mode support, which provides a firewall friendly mode that allows
you to connect securely through a firewall or proxy server.
• Support for MD5 checksums that guarantee a secure delivery.
• Supports highly reliable, high performance, and secure transfer of large
files through the Internet or a private network when accessing a
SecureTransport server.
• Supports scheduling of file uploads and downloads for unattended
transfers.
• Support for pausing and resuming file transfers.

32 Chapter 3: Setting Preferences

To specify General preferences:
1. Click on the General tab in the Preferences dialog box. The General
preferences pane appears.
2. Type your email address in the User Identification: Email address box. This
email address is used as your password when you login to remote sites as
an anonymous user.
3. Select any one of the following option buttons to determine how you want
SecureTransport Windows client to start automatically at system startup:
• Select the Always option button to launch SecureTransport
Windows client at startup always.
• Select the Only when scheduled transfers are pending option button
to launch SecureTransport Windows client at startup, only if
scheduled file transfers are pending. This option is enabled by
default.
• Select the Never option button to specify that SecureTransport must
not be launched at startup.
4. Choose one or all of the following check boxes:
• Select the Show list of remote sites when starting Secure Transport
check box to display the list of configured remote sites after the
SecureTransport Windows client application is opened. This option
is selected by default.
• Select the Show welcome message when connecting to remote sites
check box to display the welcome message set by the remote site
administrator while connecting to remote sites.
The welcome message can also be a legal message specific to an
organization, which is specified at the remote SecureTransport
server site. For FTP protocol, the welcome message must be
configured at the SecureTransport Administrator User Interface and
for HTTP or HTTPS protocols, a login agent has to be configured to
display the welcome message.
• Select the Show folder messages when entering folders check box to
display folder messages (set by the administrator) specific to a
folder when you access the folder through SecureTransport
Windows client. This option is enabled by default.
• Select the Share connections across explorer and transfer sessions
check box to use a single login session for all activities for the
current profile, instead of leaving the SecureTransport Client to log
on and off for every single transfer. This option is especially useful
when you transfer multiple files using the internal scheduler,

3.2 General Preferences 33

because no redundant log records are made and any potential
troubleshooting of transfer events using the log files is much easier.
5. Type a specific log file path in the Path box, or leave the box empty if you
want to keep the default log file path - <STCLIENTHOME>\Cache (by
default this is the folder C:\Program
Files\Tumbleweed\STClient\Cache).

The log path is stored in the Windows registry as a LogPath

value under the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Tumbleweed\Secur
eTransport\Explorer

If the log path directory specified does not exist, it will not be
created and the system cache will be used instead.

You must restart the SecureTransport Windows Client for a

log path change to take effect.

provides the address and port for the client to connect during a file transfer.

This option is enabled by default and is applicable only for

the FTP protocol.

If the Use PASV mode option is not selected, the client is assigned the
PORT mode and the client provides the address and port for the server to
connect during a file transfer. You can specify a custom range of ports to
be used for the data channel for active ftp connections in the respective
boxes under the Use PASV mode check box.

The default starting and end port numbers for the active ftp
range of ports are respectively 1024 and 65535.

The option to set the port range for active ftp connections
data channel is the client-side equivalent of the
SecureTransport server-side passive port range
specification option.

3. Select the Use Dial-up Connection check box if you want to use a dial-up
account. If you select this option, do the following: select your phone list
entries (that have been set up through your control panel) from the
Connection drop-down list.

The Use Dial-up Connection option is enabled only if you

have configured a dial-up connection successfully.

4. Select the Disconnect after transferring scheduled files check box to

automatically disconnect the dialup connection after the scheduled transfer
of files is complete.
5. Select the Use Proxy/Firewall check box if you want to configure the client

provided. For example, if you specify the .html or .txt file suffixes,
all files having a .html or a .txt suffix are transferred in the ASCII
(text) mode and files having other suffixes are transferred in the
binary mode.
This option is enabled by default.
3. Select either or both of the following check boxes:
• Select the Compress files before uploading using check box to have
the client compress files that you are sending. If you select this
option, use the drop-down list (located adjacent to the check box) to
select a compression utility.
• Select the Expand compressed files after downloading check box to
have the client decompress compressed files after download.

Tumbleweed recommends using WinZip® to compress and

decompress files with SecureTransport Windows client.

If a file being downloaded already exists on the local folder (that is, filenames
are the same on both the remote and local folders), you can either overwrite or
use the rename option to prevent the local file from being overwritten.
4. Select the Enable day logging check box if you want to enable daily
logging of transfers.
5. Choose either of the following option buttons to specify download options:
• Select the Overwrite existing file option button to overwrite an
existing file on the local folder if the downloaded file has the same
name as the file present on the local folder. This option is selected
by default.

overwrite the local file. SecureTransport downloads the remote file

3.4 File Transfer Preferences 41

to the local folder as filename.<N>.extension, where <N> is a numeric
value in the range 0-9999.
For example, if HelloWorld.txt exists on both the local and remote
folders, SecureTransport downloads the remote file as
HelloWorld.0.txt. The local file remains unchanged.

If the Rename existing file option is selected and a file

download fails, the partially downloaded file is deleted from
the local folder.

6. In the boxes provided under Retry Settings, specify the number of times to
retry a file transfer at specified intervals of time in the event of a file
transfer failure.
You can specify the values in the appropriate text boxes provided. If you
specify 2 as the number of retries to attempt, SecureTransport Windows
client attempts the file transfer thrice. The retry settings interval you spec-
ify is in minutes.
7. Select the Remove from transfer queue when the retry number is exceeded
check box if you want the SecureTransport Windows client to
automatically remove a scheduled transfer from the transfer queue when
the retry number is exceeded.

SecureTransport Windows client does not store the

notification email if the mail server is nonfunctional at the
time of file or folder transfer failure. Therefore, the mail
server must be functional for the email notification to be sent
to the intended recipients.

The notification template is an XML template file. The XML template file
contains a group of substitution tokens, which are substituted automati-
cally with the attributes related to a file or folder transfer before sending
the email notification. Table 4.1 lists the tokens, based on the email notifi-
cation attributes.

For a folder upload or download failure, individual email

notifications for each file present in the particular folder are
sent to the intended recipients.

to the list that appears on the Remote Sites dialog box. The contents of this list
is stored in a text file named, ExploreProfiles.txt. You can find this file in your
SecureTransport Windows client installation folder (for example, C:\Program
Files\Tumbleweed\STClient\).

If you are re-installing the SecureTransport Windows client,

you must ensure that a copy of the ExploreProfiles.txt file
exists in another location on your hard disk. Once the
upgrade/re-install is complete, you can copy the file back
into the installation folder of SecureTransport Windows
client.
If you do not follow this procedure, you will lose the list of
remote sites you had configured.

every fields provided. You can specify the schedule in Minute(s), Hour(s), or
Day(s).
7. Optionally, you can exclude specific days of the week by selecting the
desired ones in the Excluding list at the right-hand side of the tab page.

Each successive click on the same day of the week

alternatively selects or deselects it for exclusion from the
schedule.

8. Click OK to set the schedule. This completes the process of specifying a

Repeat schedule.
According to the repeat schedule shown in Figure 5.2, the SecureTransport
Windows client transfers the files every day at 6:05 PM to 8:30 PM from
October 21, 2005 onwards, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

If you configure the end hour of the scheduled transfer only,

without defining an end date, the transfer will be performed
once in every repeat interval, between the specified start
and end hours.

If you only configure the end date without the end hour, the
transfer will be performed once in every repeat interval,
regardless of the current hour. When the specified end date
is reached, it will be deleted from the scheduler.

5.3 Setting a Repeat Schedule 77

If you configure both the end date and hour, the transfer will
be performed once in every repeat interval during the period
between the specified start and end hours. When the
specified end date is reached, it will be deleted from the
scheduler.

If you exclude specific days from the schedule, no transfers

defined in the respective schedule will be performed on the
exclude days.

taken as the password if this option is selected.
7. Enter the path where you want the file to be uploaded in the Path field.
The path is the name of the directory to which you want to upload files.
Path names are generally case-sensitive.
If you specify a directory in the Scheduled Upload dialog box, the path can
be left empty to specify the root path. Path names in this dialog box must
be separated only with forward slashes (/). The FTP standard requires the
use of forward slashes, even on operating systems that use the backslash (\)
for filename separation, such as Windows.
Some examples of path names are as follows:
• /example/joe/
• /pub/test/samples/
• /incoming/
Path names entered in this dialog box are treated as URLs and therefore,
all path names must be specified relative to the root level of the server and
not the login directory. Paths relative to the root level (also called absolute
paths) must start with a forward slash (/).

When performing uploads to a folder on the remote site,

ensure that you include the forward slash (/) at the end of the
path specified.

7 Command-line Options

This chapter describes the command line options available with the
SecureTransport Windows client and provides examples for using some of the
commands. In addition, examples of batch files written using command-line
options are also provided in this chapter. This chapter is organized into the
following sections:
7.1 Overview ..........................................................................................100
7.2 Command-line Options.....................................................................101

99
7.1 Overview
SecureTransport Windows client provides command-line options, which allow
you to use the command-line interface in Windows to communicate with the
SecureTransport Windows client. The command-line interface can be used as
an alternative to the Graphical User Interface (GUI) of SecureTransport
Windows client. Command line options are also useful for performing
unattended file transfers automatically using a series of command-line options
in a batch file.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of SecureTransport Windows
client to the current version (4.5.1), note that the persistent command line
options are not supported in this version. The options provided are active only
till the command-line interface window is open.

100 Chapter 7: Command-line Options

7.2 Command-line Options
The following command line options are supported by SecureTransport
Windows client 4.5.1.

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/prefASC If this option is used, it does the fol-

lowing:
• If you are downloading a file
from a UNIX host, this option
converts any linefeeds (ASCII
10, hex 0A) into carriage return
or linefeed pairs (ASCII 13/10,
hex 0D/0A).
• If you are uploading a file to a
UNIX host, this option converts
carriage return or linefeed pairs
into linefeeds.

/prefASCExt “list of ASCII extensions” Use this option to specify a list of file
extensions for which text-mode
transfer must be used (see under
/prefASC).
Each extension must be prefixed
with a period, the extensions must
be separated with commas (no
spaces), and the entire list should
be surrounded by double quotes.
For example:
".txt,.log,.html,.htm"

/prefAskSched Use this option to prompt for sched-

ules by displaying the Schedule dia-
log box when a file transfer is
initiated.

/prefBinary Use this option to perform an exact

byte-by-byte copy of the file.

7.2 Command-line Options 101

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/prefExpand If a compressed file is downloaded

and the corresponding decompres-
sion utility is installed in the client
machine, use this option to launch
the decompression utility. Refer the
documentation of the decompres-
sion program to know how extrac-
tion is handled and where the
extracted files are placed after
decompression.

/prefFireType n Use this option to specify the firewall

type to be used. The valid values for
n, and the firewall types to which
they correspond, are:
• 0 USER userID@Host
• 1 USER fireID | PASS firePW |
USER userID@host
• 2 SITE host
• 3 OPEN host
• 4 USER userID@fireID@host |
PASS userPW@firePW
• 5 USER fireID@host | PASS
firePW
• 6 USER userID@host fireID |
PASS userPW | CCT firePW
For example, if you are using a fire-
wall that prompts for the user’s fire-
wall login, followed by the user’s
firewall password and the hostname
login information, use the following
option: /prefFireType 1.

/prefForceSec This option is applicable only to FTP

connections. Use this option to
specify the use of secure connec-
tions.

/prefFriendFire This option is applicable only to FTP

connections. Use this option to
specify the use of firewall-friendly
FTP connections.

102 Chapter 7: Command-line Options

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/prefMultiple Use this option to set the Secure-

Transport Windows client to re-login
when an attempt to connect to multi-
ple sites is made. This option slows
the transfer rate slightly, but allows
you to explore multiple sites.

/prefNoAskSched Use this option to suppress the

prompts for schedules before initiat-
ing a file transfer.

/prefNoExpand If this option is used, compressed

files that you download are placed in
the target directory and the decom-
pression program is not launched.

/prefNoForceSec Using this option allows both secure

and non-secure FTP connections.

/prefNoFriendFire This option is relevant only for

secure FTP connections. Non-
secure FTP and HTTP connections
are not affected. This option dis-
ables the use of firewall-friendly
FTP connections.

/prefNoProxy This option disables the option to

connect to a remote server through
a proxy server or firewall.

/prefNoUploadCompress Use this option if you want to upload

a file without compressing it first.

/prefOverwrite For a download, if a file with the

same name (but with different con-
tents) exists in the target directory,
SecureTransport overwrites it with
the contents of the transferred file.
Note: If the file already exists in the
target directory and has the same
contents as the file you are
downloading, SecureTransport
Windows client detects this and
does not transfer the file.

7.2 Command-line Options 103

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/prefPASV This option forces the server to sug-

gest the port to be used for trans-
mission of FTP data.

/prefPORT If this option is used, the client pro-

vides the port to be used for trans-
mission using FTP.

/prefProxy This option allows to set the proxy

server parameters. Proxy server
parameters cannot be set or
changed from the command line
(except for FTP firewall type, which
controls the order and syntax in
which it accepts user login informa-
tion. For details, see /prefFire-
Type in this table).

/prefRetries n This option specifies the number of

times a file transfer must be
attempted in the event of a file
transfer failure. A value of 0 disables
this option. The minimum value
must be set to 1 to enable this
option. Refer 3.4 File Transfer Pref-
erences on page 39 for additional
information on retry settings.

104 Chapter 7: Command-line Options

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/prefUnique Use this option if you do not wish to

overwrite the local file when down-
loading the same file from a remote
site. SecureTransport downloads
the remote file to the local folder as
filename.<N>.extension, where <N>
is a numeric value in the range 0-
9999.
For example, if HelloWorld.txt exists
on both the local and remote fold-
ers, SecureTransport downloads the
remote file as HelloWorld.0.txt. The
local file remains unchanged. if you
download it again, the new copy is
named HelloWorld.1.txt; and so
forth.

/prefUploadCompress Use this option if you want to com-

press a file before uploading it.

/log This option is used to enable client-

side connection logging. For every
transfer, a log file is created in the
STClient\Cache directory. The log
file name is a combination of the
host address and port number. For
example, if connected to exam-
ple.com, port 21, the name of the
log file would be example.com-
21.log.

/prefDayLog Use this option to enable day log-

ging of file transfers.

/prefNoDayLog Use this option to disable day log-

ging of file transfers.

7.2 Command-line Options 105

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/cmdlineDebugFile file This option appends the command

line to the given file, as it is exe-
cuted (that is, with variables
resolved to their values). This can
be used to debug what is being
passed into the command line. For
example, STClient.exe /cmd-
lineDebugFile c:\temp\cmdline.txt

/deleteAllReceived This option deletes all log entries for

transfers received on the client
machine. This is equivalent to
/deleteReceived 0.

/deleteAllSent This option deletes all log entries for

transfers sent from the client machine.
This is equivalent to /deleteSent
0.

/deleteReceived n This option deletes all log entries for

transfers received on the client machine
n days ago and earlier. For example,
/deleteReceived 1 deletes all log
entries for transfers received before the
current date.

/deleteSent n This option deletes all log entries for

transfers sent from the client
machine n days ago and earlier. For
example, /deleteSent 1 deletes
all log entries for transfers sent
before the current date.

/hidden This option hides the SecureTrans-

port Windows client. If an instance
of the client GUI is already running
when this command is issued, it will
hide that instance.

106 Chapter 7: Command-line Options

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/move This option performs a move opera-

tion on the specified files or folders.
After the transfer is completed, the
files or folders are removed from the
source directory and placed in the
destination directory. However, If
you move a recursive folder or spec-
ify a wildcard combination to specify
the folders to be moved, the folders
are not removed from the source
directory (empty folders are retained
at the source directory after comple-
tion of transfer).
Note: This command is not sup-
ported for the HTTPS protocol.
Folder uploads are applicable only
for the FTP protocol.

/progress This option shows the progress win-

dow even if the /hidden flag is
enabled.

/quit This option terminates the Secure-

Transport Windows client if it is cur-
rently running. Use this option with
caution, because it will stop the cli-
ent immediately and halt all trans-
fers, including any that are currently
running.

/quitWhenDone This option terminates the Secure-

Transport Windows client when all
transfers are completed.

/RemoveOnError This option removes the task from

the Transfer Queue if an error
occurs for a transfer after exceeding
the number of retries specified using
one of the following:
• Scheduling tab of the Prefer-
ences dialog box
• /prefRetries command-line
option.

7.2 Command-line Options 107

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/schedule “date time” This option schedules a transfer for

a later time. The format for date is
m/d/[yy]yy, and the format for time
is h:mm[AM/PM]. For example, the
following command-line fragments
are all equivalent:
• /schedule “5/15/01 1:00PM"
• /schedule "05/15/01 13:00"
• /schedule "5/15/2001 01:00PM"
Note: There is no command-line
equivalent for repeat or limit
schedules.

108 Chapter 7: Command-line Options

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/statusBAT filename.bat This option creates a batch file to

capture the return status of the ses-
sion. The file pointed at, file-
name.bat is deleted each time the
transfer state of the SecureTrans-
port Windows client changes, and
filename.bat is automatically recre-
ated with the following two lines:
• set SecureTransportSta-
tus=FileDriveStatus
• del filename.bat
where FileDriveStatus is one of
the following values:
• DONE-Transfer is done
• ACTIVE-Transfer is active
• STOP- Transfer has been
stopped
• INVALID-The URL or local path
is invalid
• ERROR-An error has occurred
• WAITING-Waiting to re-transfer
• NOTEXIST-Cannot find the
source file(s) to be transferred
You can execute the SecureTrans-
port Windows client from a batch file
and use the value of
FileDriveStatus to control a
loop that retries a file transfer till the
transfer is performed completely.
For an example, see 7.2.3 Sample
Batch Files on page 116.

7.2 Command-line Options 109

Table 7.1: Command-line Options

Command Line Option Description

/Remote-Site This option is used to extract the fol-

lowing parameters from the site
(called as profile in earlier versions):
• User name
• Password
• Certificate settings specified for
the site. (Refer4.2.2 Setting
Security Preferences on page 57
for information on the certificate
settings specified for a site.)
• Email notification settings

7.2.1 Reserved Characters for URLs or Paths

You must not use the characters listed in Table 7.2 in a URL or a path you
specify using command-line options. These characters are reserved and you
must substitute the characters with the appropriate character combination to use
them in URLs or paths.

Table 7.2: Reserved Characters and Substitutes

Reserved Character Substitute Characters

; %3B

, %2C

/ %2F

? %3F

: %3A

@ %40

& %26

= %3D

blank space character %20

110 Chapter 7: Command-line Options

For example, if the user name is user1@example, password is
password@example, address is my.example.com, and path is /my
folder/my?file, you must supply the URL as follows:
ftp://user1%40example:password%40example%40my.example.com/
my%20folder/my%3Ffile

To use the substitute characters (without making them a

substitute for the reserved characters) as such in URLs or
paths, you must prefix a % (percentage) symbol before the
substitute characters.

For example, if you want to specify %40 in the URL, without making it a
substitute for @, you must specify %40 as %%40

7.2.2 Examples of Command-line Commands

Listed below are examples of the /Remote-Site command and its description:

For each example, ensure that the command given is typed

in one line.

stclient.exe ftpu:<URL> <File Path> /prefASC /prefRetries 50

120 Appendix A:
B Frequently Asked Questions

This appendix lists the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and their solutions.
The following section lists the FAQs:
B.1 FAQ ..................................................................................................122

121
B.1 FAQ

How does SecureTransport Windows client handle ASCII transfers?

During an upload in ASCII format, SecureTransport Windows client con-
verts all line-termination instances (CR or LF) in the file to the line-termi-
nation instance used by the target operating system. For an ASCII
download, SecureTransport Windows client converts all line-termination
instances in the file to CR or LF. The SecureTransport Windows client
uses a transformation algorithm to handle ASCII transfers.

If you perform a binary file upload using HTTPS protocol for

a file containing only CR characters, the file transfer is
successful from the source to the destination. However, if
the same file is transferred back to the source in ASCII mode
using HTTPS protocol and if the file exists at the source, the
file transfer fails.

Why is the drag-and-drop file or folder option not functioning for uploads
or downloads?
Ensure that you have restarted the system after installing or upgrading
SecureTransport Windows client.
I selected the Show welcome message when connecting to remote sites option
in the General Preferences pane. When I connect to a remote site, I get the
<user> successfully logged in message box instead of the welcome message
I specified. How do I solve this?
If you are using the HTTP protocol, ensure that you have configured a
login agent in the HTTP server. For FTP protocol, ensure that the welcome
message is specified at the FTP server.
The SecureTransport server supports RFC 2228. How do I set this in the
SecureTransport Windows client?
SecureTransport Windows client does not support RFC 2228 FTP security
extensions.
When performing file upload to a remote directory, the file gets uploaded
under the remote directory if the remote directory exists. If the remote
directory does not exist, the file gets uploaded with the name of the remote
directory at the remote site. What must be done to resolve this?

122 Appendix B: Frequently Asked Questions

When performing uploads to a folder on the remote site, ensure that you
include the forward slash (/) at the end of the path specified.
Why do my command line transfers fail when I attempt the transfers as a
virtual user?
Ensure that you have used a ‘/’ for specifying the path to the home direc-
tory instead of supplying the actual path to the home directory. For virtual
users, ‘/’ signifies the full path to the home directory.
While transferring large files (100 MB or more in size), the file transfer is
attempted in the retry mode and the log file displays a timed out message
for the file transfer. What must be done to prevent this?
Ensure that the time-out value in the SecureTransport server configuration
is set to 60 seconds or more.
After configuring the SecureTransport Windows client to send an email
notification, the notification is not sent after a file transfer failure. The log
for the file transfer displays the following message: Error in initiating SAX
reader. How do I solve this issue?
You might not be having the correct version of the Microsoft XML Parser
installed in your computer. Refer 1.3 Hardware and Software Require-
ments on page 5 for additional information.
