Category A: Family and Community

My sample for Category A: Family and Community is my personal resource file.

It fits the category because it shows how I can work in partnership with families, and ways to
connect them to a variety of community resources.
I chose it as the best example of my work because it shows chosen my cultural sensitivity and
having resources available for a variety of situations that may come up with a family. Resource
file covers a variety of services for children and families, and adheres to principles of anti-bias
and respect for diversity.
It demonstrates the knowledge I gained in the Family & Community Relationships course of the
Infant Toddler Credential.
I learned about how to be cultural sensitive, good communication skills and how important it is
to not only know what is available in your community for families but how to help them start to
seek the help or services that they need.
My sample shows my cultural sensitivity, communication skills and knowledge of families by
providing local resources for parents and those that may be in need of specific services. For
example, a new family had enrolled in the center and were in need of a pediatrician in the area.
