Administrative Approvals
The following items must have Administrative Approval:
All written communication distributed to staff/and/or students community
organizations and businesses requesting conferences, financial assistance or other
information that has not been previously approved by the Buffalo Board of
Education must be cleared by the principal.
Viewing of movies.
Fundraisers
Personal visitor, including his/her children.
Field trips
Guest speakers may be invited to address students on specific issues with
administrative and district approval. Staff is responsible for the content of a
guests presentation and all sides of controversial issues should be examined, with
guidance from the administration.
Imagination Center / Assembly Rules

Walk through the school quietly.


Enter the IC in silence, voice level 0.
Remain quiet throughout the entire assembly program.
Be respectful toward ALL guests.
No food, gum or candy permitted.
Leave the IC in an orderly manner.

It is the responsibility of the staff member in charge to monitor student


behavior in the auditorium.
Student Movementt / TransitionsChanging of Classes
ALL CLASSES are to be escorted by their teacher when out of the classroom.
Teachers are to escort and pickup classes from specials and lunch on time.
Support teachers are to escort their groups of students to and from their
classrooms.
Students are to stay to the right of the hallway to allow other classes to pass in an
orderly fashion.
Students are to be in a line and silent before exiting the room.
Teachers are expected to enforce the STOP signs within the building and maintain
a LEVEL 0 in the hallway at all times.
Students are not allowed in the hallway at any time without a pass. They must
have a pass for the library, office, nurse, bathroom, speech, OT/PT, or any other
reason they are traveling in the hallway. Only one student is allowed to go in the
hallway at a time, either if they are using the bathroom, etc. The goal is to keep
the traffic to a MINIMUM in the hallways. All staff members are responsible for
monitoring hallway traffic and noise in the entire school!
The adult in charge is responsible for monitoring student behavior and adherence to this
policy.

Student Cell Phone & Classroom Phone Use


Students are not allowed to have their cell phones on during the school day.
Buffalo District policy states that they are to keep the phones in their lockers, and
turned off. (This also includes all electronic devices such as IPADS, IPODS, or
any other personal devices.
If you see a student with a cell phone or any other electronic device, take it from
the student and call the parent to come pick it up at school.
Students are not allowed to receive personal phone calls during the school.
Please DO NOT allow a student to answer or use the classroom phone.
No phone calls will be passed on to the classrooms. A message will be taken and
placed in the appropriate staff members mailbox.
All emergency calls will be referred to the principal or assistant principal.
Lavatory
When using a bathroom not located in the classroom, all students are expected to
have a bathroom pass that is signed by a teacher/teacher aide.
Students are allowed to use the bathroom once in the morning, then once in the
afternoon.
Only ONE student is allowed to use the bathroom at a time.
When releasing a student to the bathroom, teachers are expected to stand at the
door, continue teaching, and monitor their students traveling to the bathroom.
Lockers
Lockers are to be used during morning entrance, and at dismissal.
Students who use lockers at any other times need a signed pass.
Buffalo Board of Education policy requires that each student to place his/her book
bag in the locker upon entering school and have it remain there until the school is
dismissed from school
Female students may keep a small purse in their locker for personal items and
access it from their locker, during the day with a written pass.
Book bags cannot be carried around during the school day by students.
Gym/swimming clothes must be carried in a plastic bag.
Prohibited Items
The classroom environment must be conducive to instruction and learning. The
following items, which are distractions are NOT PERMITTED IN SCHOOL:
beepers, gym & candy, pop, cameras, toys, radios or IPods, excessive money, cell
phones (see cell phone policy), valuable jewelry or other items, collectible cards,
or any other distractible items.
If you see any of the above, please confiscate any such items. Only a parent
will be allowed to retrieve the item.
Accidents and Illness on School Premises
Staff
For injuries or illness suffered on school premises or in the line of duty please adhere to
the following:
Notify an administrator

Complete an accident report (available online).


For additional information, please refer to the BTF Master Contract.

Pupils
All accidents on school property must be reported to the principal immediately.
This procedure also applies to all cases of illness, which develop in school, on
playgrounds, etc. In all cases involving minor injury, first aid treatment shall
occur only under the direction of the administration, school nurse, or gym
instructor.
In dealing with cases pertaining to serious injury or illness, the nurse, if available,
shall be contacted immediately. When this is not possible, the administration will
instruct as to what course is to pursue.
An accident report should be filled out for all pupils who have suffered an
accident, which required medical treatment. The proper form can be downloaded
from the school website and also found in the main office.
NOTE: Copies of all accident reports will be filed in the main office and will also be
retained in the students folder.
Building Maintenance
It is expected that all school personnel maintain a clean, neat, organized
environment in all rooms and the hallway. All staff is to patrol the areas which they use
and leave them presentable for staff, students, parents and school visitors.
Requests for classroom maintenance or repairs should be submitted via the work
order request forms in the main office. If requests are not handled in a timely manner
please send an email to the school engineer (cc: principal).
CLEANING UP OF ANY TYPE OF BODILY FLUIDS IS THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CUSTODIAL STAFF. INFORM THEM IMMEDIATELY
WHEN A RESPONSE IS NECESSARY.
Sanitary Supplies
Please complete the form in the main office for maintenance requests, including
when you are in need of additional soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels or if your garbage
needs to be emptied.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the school building or on school property.
Employees are not allowed to smoke in their cars that are parked in the schools lot.
