Learning Objective

Geometry Focus: Plane Figures

K.11 the student will
a.) identify, describe, and trace plane geometric figures (circle,
triangle, square, and rectangle)
b.) compare the size (larger, smaller) and shape of the plane
geometric figures (circle, triangle, square, and rectangle)
Visual Arts
K.7 the student will identify and use the following in works of art:
1.
color- red, blue, yellow, green, orange, violet, brown, black,
white
2.
shape-circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval

Pedagogy

Activity

The teacher will show the students what the geometric figures (circle,
triangle, square, and rectangle) are through discussion, using the
smart board to draw the shapes, and an educreations.com created
simulated smartboard presentation. The teacher will show difference
in sizes by drawing the geometric figures in different sizes: larger and
smaller.
The teacher will ensure understanding by using a worksheet (shown
below) that asks students to trace the geometric figures to ensure
they comprehend what a circle, triangle, square, and rectangle are.

The teacher will then ask the students to use educreations app to
create a virtual white board presentation of the geometric figures.
The students educreations whiteboard should include:

all of the geometric figures discussed: circle, triangle,

square, and rectangle

an understanding of size; larger and smaller

a use of color in the slides

The presentation will ensure the students understanding of the
geometric figures, size, and reinforce the different colors: red, yellow,
green, blue, and black.

Directions for Use

At the beginning of the year, students will take home a document to

parents asking them to create an educreations account for their
students and use teacher code QRKLRXT to enter their student into
the virtual classroom. Teacher will ask parents to send back login
information with students so that iPads at school can be logged into
students accounts so that they may begin creating once assignment
begins.
The day before intended project day, the teacher will log each student
into their educreations account on number assigned iPads in the
classroom. The teacher will use the login information provided by the
parents at beginning of year.
On day of project:
The teacher will show the students how the educreations app works :

First the teacher will show which app is the educreations

app and open it on the iPad, all students iPads will be logged into their
educreations app, they just need to click the educreations app icon:

The teacher will then show the students how to create a

new lesson and go over step by step instructions of how to create a
new lesson and what is expected to be in their lesson:
1.) Students will get their assigned number iPad.
2.) Students will open the educreations app
3.) Students will go to upper left corner, press lessons button
4.)
go to bottom of lessons menu and hit the blue New
Lesson button.
a.
Students will then be redirected to a new lesson
page
5.) Students will be asked to explore lesson creation page:
a.
tapping the different colors across the middle
b.
using the eraser
c.
changing slide pages using arrows on the bottom
d.
undoing and redoing a move using the arrows on
the top left
e.
deleting a slide all together using the trashcan
6.) Teacher will ask students to include at least one slide for
each of the geometric figures
a.
A minimum of 4 slides for each project: a circle,
triangle, square, and rectangle slide.
b.
Students will say what the shape is they are
drawing on each slide
c.
Teacher will also ask students to include one color
with each figure
d.
Teacher will also ask students to vary the sizes of
geometric figures drawn on each page, asking
that multiple figures be drawn on each slide.
7.) The students will then start creating their lessons on
geometric figures
a.
Once ready to start students will push Record
button
i. Record button on top left, speaker icon
b.
Students will begin creating, once they see the
timer appear
i. to pause students can press pause
button on top left
ii. to add text students can press + button
on top right
c.
Once students have created their slides they will
end recording and save their lessons
i. To end recording press recording button
on top left
ii. To save video press button above
