Introduction

Over a hundred years since man know how to flew. Its was an
engineering breakthrough for a man to travel skies. Back then it was
use for fighting . But years after, it was use for mass transportation.
This lead us to connect every one of us and develop greater bonds to
mankind.
A mile of highway will take you just one mile but a mile of runway will
take you anywhere in the world. Since it was use for commercial
flights, the safety of the passengers are the keepsake of many airline
companies and Government agencies. With the latest report, air travel
is safest mode of transportations than to land and sea.
Every commercial flights, business jet aircraft or some military aircraft
need to have a flight attendants or cabin crew. They are members of
aircrew include the pilots employed by airlines primarily to ensure the
safety and comfort of passengers aboard. Before aircraft flies,
attendants demonstrate the pre-flight safety procedures to airline
passengers. The briefing gives detailed explanation before take-off.
Body
There are inflight passenger announcements. Please keep in mind that
these announcements scripts vary greatly according to the time of day,
the length of the flight, the aircraft type, the origin and destination and
of course, the airline. These texts are provided simply as a guidance:
Boarding, Door Closure, Safety demonstration, Take-off, Turbulence,
Descent and Landing.
When boarding this announcement is usually made while the aircraft is
parked at the gate and the last passengers are boarding. The crews
announce to stow every carry-on luggage and also make sure your
seat back and folding trays are in their full upright position. Smoking is
prohibited on the entire aircraft, including lavatories. Make sure to
fasten your seatbelts.
When everyone are aboard the chieft flight attendant tells the flight
time and the attitude it travels. The electronice devices like cellular
phones, smartphones, laptops must be turn-off or be set to airplane
mode. Usually before the door closed, or while it is closed, this
announcement is made. When the door is closed and the aircraft is
about to push back, the captain will make an announcement intended
to the flight attendants to prepare for gate departure, door on
automatic, cross-check and report back to the captain.

A safety demonstration typically covers all these aspects, not

necessarily in this order:
a reminder to review the aircraft safety card
the use of the seat belt. Some airlines recommend that they keep
their seat belt fastened at all times in case of unexpected turbulence.
the requirement that passengers must comply with lighted signs,
posted placards, and crew members intructions.
the use of oxygen mask.
the location and use of the emergency exitst, evacuation slides and
emergency floor lighting.
the location and use of the life vests, life rafts, and flotation devices
(not typically included if the flight does not overfly or fly near vast
masses of water).
the use of passenger cushions as flotation devices (typically only
included on aircraft that do not provide life vests).
generally, a reminder not to smoke on board, including the toilets
reminder not to tamper with or disable lavatory smoke detectors.
the precautions to take before take-off and landing:
to stow luggage under a seat or in an overhead compartment.
to return folding trays and seat backs to the upright position.
to turn off most electronic devices.
On each commercial flight, there may be passengers who fly frequently
and ones who have never flown before. However, it is important for all
passengers to listen to and understand the safery instruction.
Usually, the Captain will make a small briefing before take-off,
sometimes indicating the priority for take-off. Example the airplane is
in third party in priority for take-off, we shoul depart in about five
minutes. This means there are also airplanes ahead need to have
approved to take-off by control tower. Within a minute after take-off, an
announcement may be made reminding passengers to keep their seat
belts fastened. After passing above clouds or turbulence, the Captain
will turn off the Fasten Seat Belt sign, but usually, the aircraft is still

climbing to its cruising altitude. The flight attendants will then invite
the passengers to release their belts if needed.
Occasionally, turbulence may occur during a flight. The seat belt sign
will turn on and,in case of moderate to severe turbulence ahead, the
flight crew will make a brief announcement. Before, or during the
descent, the Captain will usually make an announcement with local
time and temperature at the destination airport, and time left until
arrival. To indicate the landing clearance or final approach, the Crew
prepares the passenger for landing. After touchdown, and as the
aircraft is turning off the active runway and taxiing to the gate, the
flight attendant will do one last announcement.
If unnecessary happens. Follow crew members instructions in an
emergency. Crew member will brief you on emergency procedures.
Note the location of your nearest emergency exit. Do not take any
personal luggage with you when exiting the aircraft in an emergency. If
an oxygen mask falls from the panel above you, pull it down and place
the mask over your nose and mouth with the elastic band around your
head. In the event of a crash landing, adopt the recommend brace
position.
Not just only the cabin crews are the ones who keep us safe in the midair. Before the airplane take-off rather after the airplane touchdown.
The aircraft maintenance technician and Engineers inspect if there is
there is something wrong on the aircraft. They utilize the efficiency of
the airplane and perform the safety checks needed.
The Pilot-in-command is always the final authority to, and ultimately
responsible for, the airworthiness of any aircraft. He may defer to the
advice of mechanics who know more about airframe or the engines,
but ultimately it is his decision only as to whether the aircraft is safe to
fly.
To this end, evert pilot peforms a pre-flight check of the aircraft before
every flight. This typically involves:
checking the structural integrity of the control surfaces (nuts, bolts,
screws),
checking the engine to make sure all the hoses and cables are where
they should be, and that nobody left a wrench or something in there
after the last maintenance check,

checking the fuel levels to ensure there is sufficient fuel for flight plus
additional fuel for unforeseen circumtances,
checking the oil levels,
checking for dents or cracks along the airplanes surface,
validating the correctness of the control surfaces (left pedal makes
rudder deflect left, left stick makes the left aileron go up, etc.)
verifying that lights work (for night flights at least),
For larger aircraft, it's impossible for the pilot to inspect the entire
aircraft himself in a timely manner, so he relies on a competent
maintenance crew. But he is still ultimately responsible for the
aircraft's airworthiness. The pre-flight check is not exhaustive. There
are many potential problems that the check could miss. All aircraft are
required to periodically have more thorough inspections by trained
mechanics. Commercial aircraft have even more stringent inspection
requirements.
Some airlines require all window shades to be open for take-off or
landing. The window shade opening is a part of a long process to
prepare the cabin for sudden (unexpected) emergencies. Why is that?
Well, cabin crew have only 90 seconds to evacuate all passengers in
case of emergencies. The process of evacuation itself should not take
more than 90 seconds regardless of the size of the aircraft or the
number of passengers. So to make the evacuation possible in 90
seconds cabin crew and other airlines staff will prepare every flight in
advance to make this possible. One example is the emergency exits,
only healthy adults are allowed to occupy these seats, they are also
required to read the safety card for emergency exits to make them
prepared in case of emergencies to help the cabin crew. They are
called ABPs (Able-Bodied-Persons). This is just one example. Anyway
window shades opening is a small part of a long preparation process.
Passengers are asked to open window shades before take offs and
landings because these are considered to be critical times in aviation.
Many things can go wrong during these times (most accidents do
happen during take offs or landings), so people are asked to open
window shades along with other things (seats in upright position,
people seated and buckled etc.) to make everything prepared as if the
plane were in emergency. In case something goes wrong things will be
ready in advance so cabin crew can easily evacuate people in the short
period of 90 seconds.

Specific reasons behind the window shade opening include:

Passengers are curious, hence they are perfect extra eyes to see if
something goes wrong out there. Usually passengers report stuff right
away.
In case of sudden emergencies, every second counts. Therefore if
shades are open crew can easily see outside conditions to help them in
planning the evacuation (which doors to use for evacuation etc.).
In case of emergency (which is more likely during take offs and
landings) people should be prepared just in case. So during daytime,
opening window shades and putting cabin lights to full makes the eyes
used to sunlight so if something goes wrong and passengers need to
be evacuated there will not be sudden change in light contrast which
might lead to temporary blurred vision. Same thing at night flights,
window shades are open and cabin lights are dimmed.
It helps ground emergency personnel outside to see the inside of the
cabin.
These rules might be different from one airline to another, but in
general almost all airlines require their crews to make sure of the
window shades during take offs and landings. They also add it in the
preparation announcements prior to take offs and landings.
Technically before the airplane take-off or leaves the airport. The pilotin-command communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC). The ATC
clearance delivery is the position that issues route clearances to
aircraft, typically before they commence taxiing. These contain details
the route that the aircraft is expected to fly after departure. ATC helps
pilot to prevent collision between other aircraft.
Conclusion
So where does that leave us? Tragedy, we cant predict when this
happen but with the knowledge of safety procedures along flight can
prevent much worse and know what to do if something happens
unnecessarily. Safety procedures regulate for the passenger to remain
stable for mid-air travel. Yes, this advance technology lead us to better

world and make the human great as they are. The better purposes of
this to make us feel safe with a knowledge what is happening around
us while flying. We still need to develop but preparation for this is kinda
handy. How we can be 100% safe in the flying metal?
