7 Lesson Plan: Script Writing

LESSON PLAN OBJECTIVES - Students will: (within this lesson)
By the end of the assignment...
Experience- Weather conditions, climate, and Canadas weather.
Oral production- name list and describe in a defined, highly structured and modelled fashion,
resulting in a prepared message, expressed in the present, that is comprehensible and accurate.
Written production- list and describe in, in written form, in a defined, highly structured and
modelled fashion, resulting in a prepared message, expressed in the present, that is
comprehensible and accurate.
use, with some consistency, the following linguistic elements needed to communicate a message
in oral and written form: prepositions of place, expressions with the verb faire, approximate
pronunciation of unknown words, and correct word order in simple sentences.
Compare and contrast weather proverbs in English and in French.
Continue to develop knowledge of the following concepts: nouns, prepositions, the present tense,
and construction of simple sentences.
By the end of the lesson...
Students will construct a script by which they will base their weather report on.
Students will inquire about any areas in question that will help in their completion of the report.
Students will identify the meaning of different weather terms in French to include in their
presentation
Students will identify and use a variety of Canadian provinces and their prepositions in their
report.
Students will use a variety of weather terms/vocabulary in their report.
Students will identify and inquire about any areas of the assignment that may be confusing or
troubling.

PROCEDURE
Introduction (7 min.)
Welcome students and gather attention by having a sponge activity of vocabulary on the board as
they enter class.
With a class recap what the assignment expectations are and what the timeline will look like.
Re-explain to students that the assignment format is up to them, just as long as the assignment
meets the assignment expectations of communicating the weather.
Have class share what the steps are to their assignment creation
Remind students to use work period wisely and to ask any questions that they may have.
Transition into activity

Body (35 min.)


Learning Activity #1: (35 minutes)
Students will write their scripts and assignment descriptions, while conversing and sharing ideas
with their partners.
The teacher will circulate and aid/ monitor student progress throughout their assignment
creation.
Closure (3 min.)
Have students clean up materials and ask random students about their progress by providing an
example sentence from their presentation.
As an exit strategy have the students share a sentence on their way out the door.
