Instructions to Joint M.Tech./MCP Ph.D. applicants 2015

Interview call letter for shortlisted candidates is released on 29th April, 2015. The Interview call letter can be
downloaded on login through JMP portal.

Interview Call Letters/Offer letters will not be sent by post. Please check your application
status regularly by login. Follow important dates time to time. Offer letters can only be
downloaded via login.
For the following departments the admission is based on both GATE score and a personal interview as per the
schedule given below

Note: If a candidate is shortlisted for more than one specialization and given two different interview dates, such
a candidate may appear on any one of these dates.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR ALL OTHER SPECIALIZATIONS WHICH ARE NOT LISTED IN THE ABOVE TABLE, THE
ADMISSION IS BASED ON GATE SCORE ONLY.
If you have not been shortlisted for the specializations where the admission is based on interview, please
wait for the first list offers for the departments where the admission is based on GATE score only. For the
tentative date of first list offers please see the important dates.
In case if a candidate has been shortlisted for interview for any of the specializations where the admission is
based on interview, irrespective of whether the candidate attends the interview or not, such a candidate will still be
considered for all other specializations within the choice where the admission is based on GATE score only.
However, if a candidate does not attend the interview, such a candidate WILL NOT be considered for
admission to that specific specialization.
In case of any impersonation or mismatch of data, the candidature will be cancelled and such a candidate will not
be interviewed / considered for admission.
Candidate must bring a valid Photo-ID which is required at the time of interview. However no other documents are
required at the time of interview.

Instructions to Accept/Reject the offer for Joint M.Tech./MCP Ph.D.

Admission
Instructions for making pre-registration fee payment
Once a candidate logs in at JMP Admission portal via http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/jmp, he/she has to make necessary fee
payment before one of the options Accept or Accept with upgradation is chosen. In order to make payment, please follow
the steps given below:
Step1: click the button Ready to Pay for Acceptance or Accept with upgradation.
Action: You will be taken to an online Payment Portal, where you can make necessary fee payment using net banking,
debit card, or credit card.
Step2: Make necessary fee payment at the Payment Portal.
Action: Once the payment is successful, you will be directed back to the JMP Admission portal, where you will see the
message Your payment of Rs. 30000/- is successful. You can now Accept this offer without any option for upgradation
(Locking) or Accept this offer with an option for upgradation followed by two buttons (i) Accept the current offer
without upgradation (Locking), (ii) Accept the current offer with an option for upgradation.
Step3: Choose one of the two options mentioned above. After one of the options is selected you will get the
corresponding status message depending on your choice. You can then download the offer letter and statement of
acceptance (combines in 2 pages) from the link Download offer letter. You may keep this for your reference. Note that
you need not send any documents by post or by email to IIT Khragpur.

Payment failures: In case if you have attempted to pay and money got deducted from your account but still you are
directed to the status screen where the button Ready to Pay for Acceptance or upgradation is shown again, then please
do not attempt to pay again. This may be a possible case of online transaction failure. Please send an email to
jmp@adm.iitkgp.ernet.in, (i) Bank statement showing the money deduction, (ii) transaction id and date, (iii) Name and
Application number to resolve the issue. In the subject of the email please mention Payment Failure. Wait for 48 hrs for
the issue to be resolved and check the status after wait period by login.

Note: Follow the above instructions carefully. If you fail to select within the deadline one of the options available, your
admission to JMP 2015 at IIT Kharagpur will automatically be REJECTED, even after successful payment of preregistration fee.

Action to be taken by the candidate: Choose one of the three options given below

If Accept this offer without upgradation (Locking) is chosen:

Candidate has ACCEPTED the current offered course and does not want to upgrade to any of the higher choices of courses
that are given while filling the application. The current offered course will be treated as final (locked) and will not be
changed in the subsequent lists.
In the above example, CR specialization is offered and is accepted by the candidate. The candidate will not be upgraded to
CH,IM, RT, AG3. Further, this candidate need not appear for RT interview. Even if this candidate attends the interview, the
same will not be considered for upgradation to RT.
If Accept the current offer with an option for upgradation is chosen:
Candidate has ACCEPTED the current offered course and is willing to upgrade to any of the higher choices of courses that
are given while filling the application. The current offered course is not final and may be changed in the subsequent lists,
if seats are available.
The candidate will be considered for upgradation in the subsequent lists for CH,IM, RT, AG3 in the order they were given.
This candidate must attend the interview for RT for possible upgradation, failing which this candidate will be considered
for upgradation only in CH,IM, AG3 since these are based on GATE Score only.
Please note that once a candidate chooses this option and is upgraded to higher choice in the subsequent list, the current
offer will be treated as cancelled and candidate has to make a fresh choice of either Accept/Upgrade/Reject.
If Reject this Offer is chosen:
Candidate has REJECTED the offered course. The candidate do not want to take admission for any courses and would not
be considered in the subsequent lists for any specialization including the ones for which an interview call letter is
received. The candidate data will be deleted from the database and will not be considered for JMP 2015 admission at IIT
Kharagpur.
Such a candidate will not be considered for CR or for any other choices including RT. This candidate need not appear for
RT interview and will not be considered for any specializations at IIT Kharagpur including CR that is offered. Even if the
candidate appeares the interview for RT, his/her candidature will not be considered.
No direct offer is made so far but called for interview alone, say for R T : If the candidate attends the
interview, RT will be considered, otherwise not. In any case, all other choices that are based on direct
admission (GATE Score) will be considered in the subsequent lists.
For candidates ticking Option 1 or Option 2 : Candidates choosing one of these options have to
make R s . 3 0 0 0 0 / - payments within the deadline mentioned in the offer letter. Otherwise, such
candidate will be automatically considered as 'REJECTED' (Option 3). In this case, the candidate will
not be considered for any other specialization including the one where direct offer is made.

Refunds for excess payments due to failed transactions:

If any applicant has paid the Pre-Registration Fee more than once due to network failure and the same is also deducted
from his/her bank account, then the excess amount paid by the applicant will be refunded by IIT Kharagpur. To enable the
refund, the applicant has to send an e-mail to jmp@adm.iitkgp.ernet.in with the following details: 1) Name, 2) Application
No., 3) Transaction ID, Date and Time. Based on the email and verification, refunds will be initiated by IIT Kharagpur and
this may take 15 days from the date of receipt of mail.
Since refunds will be made by IIT Kharagpur, the applicant who has made excess payment should not raise chargeback
with the online transaction service provider. The service provider will not entertain any chargeback request.

Refunds to applicants who opt for withdrawal of offer:

If a candidate after accepting the offer wishes to withdraw from the admission process, Rs. 29000/- will be refunded after

deducting Rs. 1000/- towards application processing fee, provided the withdrawal is made on or before June 24, 2015.
Refund process may take sometimes 45 days. However, if a candidate withdraws the offer on or after June 25, 2015, the
candidate will forfeit the entire Pre-Registration Fee of Rs. 30,000/- and NO refund will be made.
