My Coursework Flaws and Improvements

I am a current student at Alvin Community College and I can say that Ms. Bevill has been
one of the best professors that I have come upon in my college career. Throughout her course
ENGL 1302 or composition II, I have learned many new ways to further enhance my writing.
Learning many things such as how to support my claims to writing a precise description of the
problem has been some of many things I have learned during lecture. Although I have learned
much there still are some areas where I need to focus on fixing. I should focus on improving and
surpassing my writing skills because it will help me reach new frontiers in my writing.
Writing has never been my passion or my best subject but it is still fun to learn more
about how to improve and surpass myself. In recent papers that I have written it seems to be hard
to reach the word count. I believe that has happened mainly because my ideas have been simple
and to the point. The problem has also been brought up in my recent peer reviewed writing. In
my proposal essay one of my reviewers stated, Expand on your ideas to reach your word
count., that is when I figured out that I could expand my ideas into further detail so my writing
would be more satisfactory (Garza). Out of all the writing assignments that I have completed, the
Proposal assignment has been the one that has taught me the most.
The Proposal assignment has been the essay that showed I could reach new frontiers by
raising the expectations of myself. The essay also taught me how writing is an essential skill to

present my own ideas. When I was writing the proposal, the expectations of my writing were
amplified because of the extent my paper had reached. In the Proposal, to reach the word count
of the paper I had to elaborate and find more information about how the paper could show the
problem to my audience. To help me solve the problem, I would need to follow a basic principle
so that my future papers will reach the adequate length. The principle would be to extend upon
my research, and expand my ideas. Because that would allow me to get more vital information
that could be presented in my future assignments. If I follow the principle I would not struggle to
reach the word count lengths established for my writing. Also, it will improve my writing and
make me a better writer.
While I have been a student in ENGL 1302 I have learned many things, and have also
struggled to achieve success. I have figured out that a major issue with most of my writing is the
difficulty to reach the adequate word count. The issue has been brought upon some of my
writing. It is plausible to fix the issue with a simple step, and that is to extend upon my research,
and expand my ideas. The paper that showed me the most about how essential writing is
becoming in my life.
