ISO91412,ISO14230KWP2000,andISO15765CAN.Eachprotocoldifferselectrically
andbycommunicationformat.TheCodeReaderorScanToolmustbecompatible
withthevehiclesspecificprotocolinordertocommunicate.
Todeterminewhichprotocolyourvehicleisusing,youneedtolocatetheDataLink
Connector.It'sa16pinrectangularconnectorusuallylocatedbelowthesteering
column,behindtheashtrayorwithinatleast3feetfromthedriversseat.Itmayalso
belocatedbehindasnapoffcover.Theconnectorwillnothaveallofthepinsloaded.
Youcanexaminewhichpinsarepresenttoidentifywhichprotocolisbeingused.The
diagramsbelowshowalloftheprotocolpinpositions.
Afteryoudetermineyourvehiclesprotocol,checkyourscantoolssupportlistorlook
intothescantoolsconnectortoseeifthematingpinsarepresent.
