Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Brainstorm Your Identity Theme
In other words, what makes you you. Use a mind map or other methods of brainstorming to determine your
identity theme. Examples of Identity Themes) Bubbly Personality, Outdoors, Family, Travel, Cheer, Books, etc.
Think of symbols, textures, and fonts which you can use to further emphasize your identity theme.
Step 2: Determine Your Type
Research a type you think would work well with your theme. For example, a bubbly looking type would work
better with a sea theme, as opposed an army theme. Once you determine your type, practice writing your
name in this type.
Step 3: Plan Your Composition
Create at least 3 thumbnail sketches of potential arrangements for your composition, including the border. Be
sure to include areas you plan to overlap and include textures
Step 4: Create Your Graphic Name
Using your knowledge of typography, texture, overlapping (illusion of space), and unity create your final design.
First, draw your composition lightly in pencil. Then, use thin and thick sharpie marker to outline the designs.
Finally, add color to your design using colored pencil.
Step 5: Turn-In Your Project
Turn-in your project on the appropriate due date by submitting the link to your digital portfolio in the proper unit
folder on Schoology. You should have included a clear picture and artist statement in your slides.
