Legalization of Marijuana Discussion
For this topic I chose to interview my roommate, and my dad. My roommate is a 20 year
old girl that is attending college and has used marijuana in the past. My dad is a 46 year old; he
used marijuana in his teens but does not use it now, although e does use alcohol.
First my roommate has stated that she believes that it should be legal, especially for
medical reasons, but also supports overall legalization. When asked why about the medical
legalization she stated it is far better than any prescription drug for treating anxiety and also
said that the side effects to using marijuana are so much better than possible getting addicted to
other medications. She also said that it should be legal for all around use because its already less
dangerous than alcohol, and the taxes that go towards it could completely change our nation.
My dad said that he supports the legalization 100%. He says it is not any worse than
alcohol, and that he thought it should have been legal a long time ago. He said that the medical
benefits of marijuana are substantial enough that it is berserk that it has not been legal for a long
time. He said that also if people are using marijuana they dont want to be out committing
crimes, they want to be at home on the couch eating chips. So why people are allowed to get
totally drunk and want to go drive, it just doesnt make sense he said. So he is for the
legalization, for medical and recreational purposes.
