Womenexceededmeninendorsingcertainoftheemotionalmotivationsforsex,suchasI
wantedtoexpressmyloveforthepersonandIrealizedthatIwasinlove.Thesefindings
supporttheevolutionbasedtheorythatwomen,morethanmen,prefersexwithinthe
contextofanongoingcommittedrelationship,andfeelingsorexpressionsofloveprovide
signalsofthatcommitment(Buss,2003Townsend,1998).Alsosupportingthistheorywere
findingsthatsuggestsexwithoutemotionalinvolvementwasamorepowerfulmotivatorfor
menthanforwomen.Menexceededwomen,forexample,inendorsingitemsrelatedto
purephysicalpleasure,suchaswantingtoachieveanorgasm

menandwomenattimesdesireintimacyandemotionalconnectednessfromsexualactivity.
