O passado contnuo usado para se referir

a uma situao que estava em andamento


em um determinado momento do passado. A
construo do passado contnuo deve ser
dada segundo a forma:

Formao

Sujeito + was/were + verboing +


complemento

Ex: He was studying math.

USES
1. Quando nos referimos a uma ao que
se estendeu por um perodo de tempo
no passado:

Ex: It seemed that he was getting better.

2. Eventos simultneos:

Ex: While professor Knight was speaking,


no one was actually listening to him.

3. Uma ao interrompida por outra:

Ex: I was walking along the street when I


saw Dave.
Ex: She was eating when Iana called her.

4. Numa ao incompleta ou numa ao


prevista:

Ex: Joana and Carlos were planning to go


abroad last month.

Some common expressions used in this tense


(represent a precise or around time):
