parts. In upcoming months, Miller has a slew of new projects being
released. She has the lead role in the straight-to-video feature
Children of the Corn: Runaway and parts in Death Race 2050,

plans. I was in the hair and make-up chair one day
and he said something very nonchalant like, when you

addressed that we both knew and everybody else caught

I dont know how I would have done it.

celebrate and theyre doing it in lavish style again,
lming scenes for upcoming episodes in Monte Carlo,
Monaco. Attending the 2016 Monte Carlo Television Festival,
B&B won the TV Audience Award for Best Telenovela/
Soap Opera for the 11th consecutive year. Attending the
awards ceremony alongside executive producer/head writer
BRADLEY BELL were the shows stars DARIN BROOKS
(Wyatt), SCOTT CLIFTON (Liam), KATHERINE KELLY
LANG (Brooke), JOHN MCCOOK (Eric), RENA SOFER
(Quinn) and JACQUELINE MACINNES WOOD (Steffy).
They also began lming scenes in the glamorous city for

upcoming return to their Salem stomping grounds on Days. Last seen in
2013, Shaughnessy said: The returns that I made [before] were very quick
and I found that [they] werent working for me. So I told them, Im very
happy to come back and do something substantial but Im not sure Ill
be doing one or two shows here and there. When I got the call this time
I was told it would be more substantial and it seemed like something
that I wanted to do. As for Pease, shes just over the moon to be coming
home again. When the show called me, I was jumping up and down.
I couldnt wait to work with Charlie again, she enthused.

will play Bills friend Emmy, a city
clerk who investigates the validity

The information she has could

will already be familiar to Aussie
fans of The Talk, which screens
here on Network Ten.

There are very strong hints that The

Young and the Restless is preparing
to introduce the parents of Neil
Winters to the canvas in upcoming
months. A casting call has been
released asking for actresses
to play Lucinda, an AfricanAmerican woman in her late 60s/
early 70s who is looking to make
peace with her past. Secondly,
actors are needed to play Ellis,
an African-American man in his late 60s/early 70s who has
drifted away from his family and is hoping to right the wrongs
of the past. The roles will begin shooting in July. In a May 2013
episode, Neil revealed that his middle name is Ellis.

Dance Academy: The Movie will be released in cinemas March 23

the nale episode of season six breaking the series own record on Foxtel as the
most-watched subscription program in Australian history. With an initial audience
of 737,000 viewers, it trumps the record set by the premiere episode of season six which
attracted 727,000 people and had a cumulative audience of 1.2 million viewers. Season six
has been the most successful for Game of Thrones so far; the average number of viewers is
45 per cent higher than season ve and 600 per cent higher than season one.

has completely changed
Liams outlook on life.
Hes played the nice guy long
enough and shocks Steffy by
declaring that hell turn bad if
thats what it takes to win back
her love. Overwhelmed by his
declaration, Steffy says the
situation is impossible and runs
out as the sexual electricity
surges between them.
Despite her pledge to
honour her marriage vows to
Wyatt (Darin Brooks), Steffy
(Jacqueline MacInnes Wood)
stews over Liams (Scott Clifton)
welfare, particularly after his
latest sickening clash with
Quinn. Recognising his wifes
pull towards his brother, Wyatt
surprises Steffy by offering his
support to help Liam through
the massive changes in his life.
Suddenly, a dangerous incident
threatens to change everything in
the tortured trios future. Late one
night, a mysterious and masked
intruder breaks into Liams beach
house and ries through his
mail. Attracting Liams attention,
the intruder is soon knocked
unconscious with a golf club.
Ripping off the felons mask,
Liam ignores his pleas for money
and calls the cops, who soon
arrest the man.
Summoned to the police
station to identify the person in
a line-up, Liam takes Wyatt along
for support but its Wyatt who

Hearing the news, Liam rushes
out leaving Wyatt dreading the

Liam will still back Steffy should
she not be his legal wife.
Sure enough, Liam convenes
with Steffy and shares the

free to pursue her destiny, straight
into Liams arms. Announcing that
all of the obstacles in their way
have been removed, Liam calls
the invalid marriage karma
for what theyve endured.
Liam gently asks Steffy if shed
be willing to return to him but shes
confused. Dumping Wyatt just
because their marriage could be
illegal feels wrong. It would be like
saying that a piece of paper meant
more than the vows they
recited or the wedding
ring tattoos they now
wear. Declaring that
a tattoo can be removed
or covered, Liam
gives Steffy a shell
to remind her of his
love for her and tells
her to remember this
conversation. Remember
how much I believe we
will be together again.
Meanwhile, Bill takes
immediate action to
solve the drama once
and for all. Contacting
his friend Emmy
(Sheryl Underwood)
who is the City Clerk,
Bill instructs her to
dig into Rev Rydells
credentials and
the validity of his
sons marriage.
Answers are quickly
forthcoming as
Emmy certies that
not only is Rydell a
legitimate minister
but that Wyatt and
Steffys wedding
papers have been
led correctly. The
marriage is legal.
Armed with
the information,
Bill interrupts
Steffy and Liams
conversation to
announce the
news. Sending
Steffy home to
her husband, Bill
orders a shattered
Liam to grow up
and respect that
the woman he loves
is gone. Shes married
to his brother and thats
that. Liam protests but
Bill insists that Liam

Irritated by his sons refusal to see

Later though, Liam cant resist
his passion for Steffy, telling her
that he cant just shut
down his feelings
for her because his
father says so. An
exasperated Steffy
insists that he has to
but Liam insists hell
never stop loving her.
Soon,Steffy
endures intense
interrogations from
Ridge (Thorsten
Kaye), who wonders
if Wyatt will always
be enough for
BILL
her, and Bill, who
orders her never to leave his
son. Disturbed, she nds herself
conding in Liam, agreeing that
she feels stuck in her marriage
to Wyatt. Startled, Liam says he
wants to kiss her but settles for

holding her in his arms when she

asks him to comfort her. Pulling
away, Steffy says they need to
move on from each other so she
can feel happier in her marriage.
Burying himself in work,
Liam proposes that Spencer

a competing business where he
can one day employ Lizzie and
make her feel wanted like hes
never been.

Waiting for Thomas to leave,
Bill ambushes Katie for the truth,
demanding that his wife tell him
what Ridge is hiding.
Realising that her protests are
fruitless, Katie reluctantly divulges
that Ridge is not Douglass
biological father. Thomas is the
daddy, a revelation that leaves
Bill laughing menacingly as Katie
realises shes just made a massive
mistake. Its obvious that Bill plans
to cause trouble so Katie begs her
husband not to attack Ridge with
the secret. If he does, he will hurt
his own niece Caroline (Linsey
Godfrey) as well as the baby.
However, Bill thinks he has the
information that Rick has been
wanting for months.
Spoiling for a ght, Bill barges
in to the Forrester Mansion to tell
Caroline hes giving her a way
out of her nightmare. He knows
Ridge isnt Douglass father so she
shouldnt have to live a lie. Ridge
is aghast at Bills gall as Bill tells
Thomas that hes been robbed of
valuable time with his son. The
ght threatening to get out of
hand, Bill nally agrees to keep
the secret to spare Caroline the
misery of a scandal.
Bill leaves the mansion but not
before striking a nal blow. He
forces Ridge to start treating Rick
with respect, silently indicating that
he plans on allying with Rick to

closest medical facility. She tells

as the guilt of lying to her
boyfriend about his brother
eats away at her.
Later at the share house Sophie
blasts Alex for knowingly putting
her in this position. She claims he
only asked her to help because

he knew she couldnt say no and

when he confirms it she tells him
their friendship is over. From then
on every interaction between the
pair is a tense, heated one, which
Luke soon becomes aware of.
The uncomfortable situation
hits breaking point for Sophie
the next day when she is left an
envelope full of cash. Consumed
by guilt Sophie knows she needs
to tell Luke the truth. Will she
be able to come clean without
destroying her boyfriends
relationship with his brother, not
to mention her own happiness

journeyed to Camelot to locate
the immortal sorcerer Merlin.
They believe he can furnish
them with the Excalibur
Sword, the only means of
permanently distinguishing
the Darkness. However, King
Arthur now has control of
the sword and is unwilling
to relinquish it, wanting to
use it to redress the balance
between light and darkness.
To persuade King Arthur
(Liam Garrigan) to give up
the sword, Emma (Jennifer
Morrison) realises that she

needs to understand the origins

of the Sword and Arthurs
hold on it.
One thousand years before
the Age of Arthur, Merlin (Elliot
Knight) obtained magic after
drinking from the Holy Grail
to stave off his thirst from a
water shortage. From then on,
Merlin had the power to heal
people but 55 years later, he
has a fateful date with destiny
when he meets Nimue (Caroline
Ford), a woman whos escaped
from her burning village. Shes
desperate for revenge on
Vortigan (Darren Moore) who
torched the village.
Merlins passionate love for
her momentarily sways her quest
until they learn that Vortigan

wants to seize the Holy Grail

for nefarious means. To beat
him to it, Merlin uses a portion
of the Flame of Prometheus to
re-forge the Grail into Excalibur.
An outraged Vortigan strikes
back, apparently killing Nimue
and stealing the sword. Luckily,
Nimue survives, rips out
Vortigans heart and crushes
it, killing him instantly. Against
Merlins wishes, Nimue absorbs
the darkness from Vortigans
heart, transforming her into the
original Dark One. She shatters
Excalibur into two pieces to
ensure that she and Merlin
never obtain mortality.
Meanwhile, Arthurs
acquirement of the Sword is
also revealed. Two years before

present-day events, King

Fergus (Glenn Keogh) meets
with a witch and secures a
potion to ensure the future
of his kingdom DunBroch.
Teaming with his daughter
Merida (Amy Manson), Fergus
storms into battle against
invaders, stunning Merida by
sacricing his life to protect
her and his men. A shattered
Merida declares revenge on
her fathers killer Arthur, who
is rewarded with Excalibur.
Armed with this knowledge,
Emma prepares to use it to
get the sword from Arthur
and then nd Merlin. Fatefully,
Merida intervenes. Crowned
Queen of DunBroch, Merida
furiously rides to Camelot to
battle Arthur but suddenly
everyones plans are thrown
into disarray when a curse,
spewing dark magic, emits
from Excalibur and engulfs
all of Camelot and everything

Nashville

HOW IT ENDED: Raynas past came back to haunt her when she
discovered that Vince Pierce, the music producer working on Maddies
new album, was the same man who almost raped her as a teenager.
Desperate to stop her daughter working with him, Rayna (CONNIE
BRITTON) tried to nd her but it was too late as Vince cornered Maddie
at a party with the intention of violently raping her. Luckily, Deacon broke
in and saved his daughter and Rayna, Deacon and Maddie reunited
as a family. Meanwhile, Layla destroyed her relationship with Avery when
she leaked to the media the truth about Juliettes (HAYDEN PANETTIERE)
role in Jeffs death. A disgusted Avery dumped her to return to Juliette. In
the cliffhanger ending, Juliette left the Oscars (where she was nominated
for her role as Patsy Cline) to return home to Nashville to be with Avery
and little Cadence. But it seemed Juliettes plane had crashed en route.
It disappeared from radar, leaving Avery fearing for Juliettes life.
WHY IT ENDED: Early hints that Nashville could be cancelled
emerged when Americas ABC Entertainment Group president
CHANNING DUNGEY explained that the network was looking
to move away from soapy serials like Nashville. Lead star
Panettieres re-entry into rehab for depression also fuelled
the axing warnings. Finally, ABC pulled the plug, with
Dungey saying: We [felt] that even though Nashville
was a wonderful show and a good performer for
a long time, the future for us didnt lie in the show.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 10/10 A large and

passionate fan base was never going to let Nashville
die quietly especially since it was still getting healthy
ratings, buoyed by its original music and real-life
concert tours. After a big fan campaign, producers
Lionsgate TV struck a deal with the CMT network
to renew Nashville for a fth season to premiere
later this year. But the move means changes as
Nashville will also be streamed by Hulu, and
may have new leading ladies. Rumours hint
that Britton and Panettiere may not return.

Agent Carter

HOW IT ENDED: Ominous signs of

danger awaited Agent Carter (HAYLEY
ATWELL) in the cliffhanging episode as her
battle against the onslaught of Zero Matter
resulted in an obsessive Frost constructing a
new rift, only to be rendered insane from the
effects of the Zero Matter. Thompson found
an incriminating le on Agent Carter but as
he returned to New York with it, he was shot
by an unidentied assailant who stole the
le with the intention of hurting Carter.
WHY IT ENDED: Despite being a favourite
with critics, Agent Carter never managed to
win over audiences, leaving it with lacklustre
ratings throughout its two-season run.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 8/10

No deals have been nalised yet but given the

shows ties to Marvel Comics and the loyal fans
that are entrenched in that universe, Agent
Carter may yet live on to see season three.
Fans are petitioning streaming giant Netix to
revive the series and it appears that its indeed
interested in keeping Carter on our screens.

Heartbeat

HOW IT ENDED: Drama plagued the St Matthews

Hospital hallways as a mysterious illness spread and
plunged the facility into lockdown. Alex (Aussie actress
MELISSA GEORGE) fought valiantly to save the lives of
Pierce, Jesse and Ji-Sung as they were struck down by
the disease, forcing her to disobey the Centers for Disease
Control to create a positive outcome. Millicent was left
to clean up the consequences of
Alexs battle with the CDC while an
elderly mans search for his missing
wife nally gave Alex the impetus
she needed to make a major decision
about her love life.
WHY IT ENDED: A promising

timeslot, airing right after The Voice in

the US, initially yielded good tidings for
Heartbeat, which started off with decent
ratings. But it never sustained the leadin ratings it was given and progressively
crashed throughout the season, leaving
NBC with no choice but to pull the plug.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 1/10

Its highly doubtful that any interest in

continuing the Heartbeat saga exists
given its low audience numbers.

The Mysteries
of Laura

HOW IT ENDED: After

surviving an attempt on her life
while solving a case, Laura (DEBRA
MESSING) took the opportunity
to re-examine her life and she
realised that she still loved her
ex-husband Jake. Unfortunately,
the moment of clarity came too
late as Jake decided to ask Jennifer
to marry him. Laura raced to stop
the proposal but failed and feared
shed lost Jake forever.
WHY IT ENDED: Too much of
a good thing ultimately proved fatal
for Laura. Despite considering
the show as a healthy and reliable
anchor in its schedules, NBC was
overwhelmed by a strong drama pilot
season for 2016-17 and liked all of the
proposed series on offer. Thus, making
room for the new entries proved tighter than
usual, meaning that The Mysteries of Laura
had to be cut to make way for them.
ODDS ON A RETURN: 2/10

Its doubtful that Laura will ever return

despite NBCs fondness for the show. Its
never garnered grand fanfare and probably
doesnt have the zealous fan base that
shows need to survive.

FINALES & FAREWELLS

The Good Wife

HOW IT ENDED: Eschewing the traditional happy

ending thats normally required of a seven-season series
like this, The Good Wife chose a cliffhanger ending.
After Peters trial on corruption charges ended with him
striking a plea deal to resign as Governor of Illinois, Alicia
(JULIANNA MARGULIES) found her relationship with
Jason (JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN) at a crossroads. She
failed to nd him to resolve their differences and instead
met Diane, who slapped her in retribution for exposing
the secrets of Dianes husband Kurt during Peters trial.
WHY IT ENDED: Originally conceived by producers

as a seven-year show, CBS held to that notion when they

announced that the show would end, during a grand
promotional spot in coverage of the 2016 Super Bowl. The
networks need to free up space in its schedule for new
shows and slightly declining ratings both played a part.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 10/10 Sort of. It may

not be returning in its current form but a spin-off series

of The Good Wife has already been commissioned. To
be led by CHRISTINA BARANSKIs attorney Diane
Lockhart and CUSH JUMBOs lawyer Lucca, the series
will pick up one year after the events of The Good Wife
nale. According to chatter, other Good Wife characters
are expected to appear. However, the yet-to-be-titled
series wont air on network TV in the US. Instead its set
to appear on CBSs streaming TV service, CBS All Access.

CSI: Cyber

Limitless

HOW IT ENDED: Ending on a partial cliffhanger, the

episode saw Brian (JAKE MCDORMAN) battling a ood
of the drug NZT onto the streets of New York, foreshadowing
the threat of a national epidemic. After bringing down Sands
and ending the crisis, Brian returned to the CJC (Cross
Jurisdictional Command) to tackle new cases. However,
Senator Morra remained missing, leaving his fate unresolved.
WHY IT ENDED: Beginning with great fanfare as a TV

adaptation of the movie of the same name, Limitless was

initially regarded as one of the hottest new shows of the
2015-16 season but as it progressed through its full season
run, ratings went down badly, prompting CBS to remove it
from the upcoming 2016-17 season. Attempts were made to
shop the series to other outlets but ultimately it was ofcially
cancelled when no home was found.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 5/10 The immediate

inability of Limitless to nd a new home doesnt bode

well for a resurrection. But who knows, CBSs reluctance
to let it die quickly and quietly may mean that interest in
a revival is sparked at a later date.

HOW IT ENDED: Death became DB Russell, or so

his colleagues thought, when he was shot saving Elijahs
life from an obsessive stalker. However, four months after
those events, it was revealed that DB had survived his
injuries and moved to Paris. Reconciled with Greer, DB
looked to the future as he tried to learn French.
Back in Washington, Ryan mourned DB and
established a youth hacker program.
WHY IT ENDED: A strong

pedigree, as a spin-off of the highly

popular and long-running CSI,
CSI: Miami and CSI: New York,
ultimately couldnt save the show
whose ratings never matched
those of its predecessors. TED
DANSONs presence as CSI
transplant DB Russell and great
acting by PATRICIA ARQUETTE
didnt help either as CSI: Cyber also
suffered in a problematic timeslot,
often being bumped into late-night
airings by CBSs coverage of Sunday
night football. Its cancellation also
marks the end of the CSI franchise
on TV with all versions now
off air for the rst time in
16 years.

ODDS ON A
RETURN: 2/10

rest for good.

Castle

HOW IT ENDED: Castle and Becketts investigation into the

notorious Loksat took a deadly turn when Caleb was apparently
burnt to death in the boot of a car. Investigating, Castle and Beckett
were involved in a shootout but survived. Soon after, Loksat took
Castle captive and jeopardised the lives of the team. Beckett
discovered that LA detective Mason was Loksat, forcing Castle to
save her. In the melee, an alive Caleb shot Castle and also wounded
Beckett. In the nal minutes, Castle and Beckett were shown seven
years into the future, happily married with three children.
WHY IT ENDED: The writing for the venerable series was on

the wall when ABC sacked series star STANA KATIC (Beckett) and
TAMALA JONES (Lanie) for a potential ninth season, ostensibly
to ne-tune the shows budget. Speculation ran rampant that
losing Beckett would be the nail in the cofn and despite re-signing
NATHAN FILLION (Castle) and his other cast mates for season
nine, the network ultimately decided to end the show, reasoning,
in a statement, that the future for us didnt lie in that show.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 5/10 Despite Castles strong

popularity and the healthy ratings it still commanded at the end,

theres little talk of the series being resurrected by another network.

Galavant

HOW IT ENDED: Revealed to be the true King of the Seven

Realms, Richard (TIMOTHY OMUNDSON) settled down with
Roberta and his former lizard that had grown into a real dragon.
Madalena got a taste of power and met with the Dark Evil Lord to
master her new powers while Gareth and Sid sought to reunite with
her, and Chef and Gwynne rebuilt their house. Finally, Galavant
(JOSHUA SASSE) and Isabella (KAREN DAVID) were married, in
a ceremony performed by the Singing Monks, and settled by the sea.
WHY IT ENDED: Low ratings, the bane of every shows

existence, ultimately counted against the quirky musical comedy.

Its unconventional programming schedule (airing back-to-back
episodes in a one-hour slot) also proved a problem as ratings
consistently dropped. Finally, the backstage departure of PAUL
LEE, former ABC Entertainment Group president, proved fatal
too. Lee was a strong champion of the struggling Galavant and
without him around its fate was all but sealed.

ODDS ON A RETURN: 6/10 Like Nashville, Galavants

fans are determined to keep it alive and have taken to social
media to petition for its continuation. So far, nothing concrete
has resulted but there are whispers that a stage version of the
show may eventually be developed. SW

SOUR CREAM, CHEDDAR

AND CHIVE DROP SCONES

MAKES 12 PREP TIME 10 MINUTES BAKING TIME 12-15 MINUTES

INGREDIENTS

250g plain (all-purpose) our

50g cheddar cheese, grated, plus
a little extra for sprinkling
teaspoon salt
teaspoon freshly ground
black pepper
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of
soda (baking soda)
1 teaspoon soft light brown sugar
60g butter
40g chives, chopped
teaspoon English or
wholegrain mustard
250ml buttermilk
120ml sour cream

the butter with your ngers until it

resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the chives and mix through.
Then add the mustard, buttermilk
and sour cream and mix until it all
comes together.
Use an ice-cream scoop or a large
spoon to spoon mounds of the
scone mixture onto the prepared baking
trays leaving a 5cm gap between each
one to allow room for them to spread.
Sprinkle some more cheddar
cheese on top and bake for about
12-15 minutes until golden and risen.
These scones are best eaten the same
day, but will keep for 3 days in an
airtight container.
