This article highlighted these essential learner-centered teaching
characteristics. The article gives ideas for teachers who want to
implement the learner centered methods in the classroom with
guidelines. I believe this article will be helpful when setting up the
classroom environment to make the students want to learn new things.
The number 2 in the article is explicit when teaching the students to
master material in the discipline. This article is related to HPL by
helping create a learner-center teaching environment.

This Blog features a weekly post on different subjects. There are
ranges of subjects like the scholarship of teaching and learning,
student engagement, classroom policies, active learning, assignments
strategies, grading and feedback, and student performance. This is a
free e-newsletter and a dedicated website. This Blog can be very
helpful for teachings to look at different articles on how to adopt a
learner-center approach in their classrooms. I believe this Blog will be
very useful for my teaching professional and I will be able to refer to
when I need to refresh on issues that I would need to address the
teaching field. The confection to the HPL is how the Blog can help
teachers help the learners to achieve their highest potential in a range
of subjects.

This article reviewed the four major trends in current cognitive science.
The first trend is that cognitive neuroscience is becoming more and
more central to all branches of psychology. The second is the
increasing prominence of statistical models based on Bayesian

probability theory. The third is increasing emphasis on embodiment.
Then the fourth important trend in cognitive science today is greater
appreciation of the social dimensions of cognitive. This article is
related to HPL because teachers need to understand how the brain
works to understand their students learning and how to adapt lessons
to the individual.

Retrieved from

This article talks about the new Every Student Succeeds Act, which was
signed into law December 10, 2015. This is the act that replaced NO
Child Left Behind Act. In the article, it talks about different elements of
the law. There is a link that ESSA included that has resources for
helping train teachers on literacy and STEM. I believe this would be
very beneficially to new teachers and season teacher that need
training on these two resources. In this Education Weeks article, it
presents a video that gives details of the new laws and what it will
mean for schools, educators, and students. This act is important to
HPL because it is necessary for all people that are educators to have
an understanding and background of the Acts in Education to help the
students learn better in the classrooms.

Retrieved from

In this article, it talks about behaviors in the classroom in education
and learning theories and practices used for the behaviors. There are
three main sources that develop the learning theories basis of our
attitudes and behavior regarding education: tradition, personal
experiences, and research. It takes about how individual behaviors can
be modified by group decisions and emotional factors in the individual
life play an important part in directing their behavior. The students
characteristics in the school environment will help the teachers
understand the way the student is behaving in the learner-center
environment, which is related to HPL.

components of new designs for schooling. The principles emphasize
the active and reflective nature of learning and learners. In the article
educators, researchers, and policy makers contribute to the new
design for Americans school and society committed to lifelong
learning, healthy human development, and productivity. It presents 14
psychological principles that pertain to the learner and the learning
process. The principles are contexts of real world learning situations.
This is a great article seeing that it is intended to apply to all leaners
children, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members
in the educational system. The Learner-Center environment is all about
the HPL and helps teachers understand how to design their schools.

This article talks about what a curriculum is?, what should it contain,
and what is the best way to organize the contents. I really like the
statement that students are not to learn specific things so much as
how to learn. This makes sense that we need to focus more on how
the students will learn the material in the classroom. It talks about
how common sense in education and curriculum can offer more
demanding than any method. It relates to High Performance Learning
because it is a process of learning when creating a new learning
experience and environment for students to think a new way in the
classroom.

that each role has when exhibiting leadership. It also gives a definition
of each role and example of a teacher in that role in a classroom.

These roles help shape the culture of their schools, improve student
learning practice among their peers. The examples in the article are
based on actual teachers that took part in the research. Having an
understanding of the educational research can shape, and endure the
HPL environment in the classrooms.
9. Race to the Top Fund. (n.d.). Retrieved December 04, 2016, from
http://www2.ed.gov/programs/racetothetop/index.html
In this article, it gives a description of the program. The race to the top
has 3 phases. In each phase, it has announcements, applications,
scores and comments, application review, and technical assistance. It
talks about how President Obama plans to continue the Race to the Top
challenge and requesting $1.35 billion for the 2011 budget. This
program is reformed around four specific areas. The Race to the top is
a Unites States Department of Education competitive grant that
rewards innovation and reforms in state and local school district K-12
education. This article is great to read and know how to go forward
and apply for the grant in your school district when teaching. This
article provides an understanding of assessment movements in
education which is related to the HPL.
10.Roles and responsibilities. (n.d.). Retrieved December 04, 2016, from
http://www.educationscotland.gov.uk/learningandteaching/assessment/
about/partnership/rolesandresponsibilities/learners.asp
In this website, there are various articles to read. The main categories
are Early learning and childcare, the curriculum, the curriculum areas,
learning across the curriculum, assessment, approaches to learning,
partnerships for learning, and sharing practice. In the reading, it
breaks down each category and gives great information. I really liked
the approaches to learn categories. I liked how it talks about cooperative and collaborative learning and talks about Reggio Emilia.
The most helpful for me in my career was partnership for learning and
engaging parents. The connection is having the teachers practice the
skills in the real world and learning different positions in the
education field.
