Injustice (Draft)
Together, as one, we have seen crime, pain, punishment, unfair treatment, inequality,
suicide, and homicide, amongst other things. These labels always seem to be the frequent
headlines in our news stand, because someone out there did something to themselves or did
something to someone else. We have seen countless times of unfair treatment in our world, we
have seen people get murdered because of their color. We have seen people getting beaten
because of who the fall in love with. We have seen the history of our culture get spoilt and
tarnished on, because people have opposing views. We have seen peoples hate and misguidance;
there has been so much that even our young ones have to grasp reality faster. Such as Sylvia
from The Lesson written by Toni Cade Bambara, this story tells the of the inexperienced views
that young Sylvia has newly discovered as she makes a day trip with her class. In todays news,
there is always something about hate and misfortunes that lurks in our society today. The thing
about all these problems is that the root for most of these problems is done by social, wealth, and
racial injustice.
Injustice can be compared to a mythical siren; some see it and lust for it, as they listen to
sweet words, while others can see that it is faade and realize what they are actually doing. They
see that the siren would actually be leading them into a worse tomorrow, a future that offers
nonentity. Throughout our rich history there are countless stories of the injustice each ethnic
group has faced. Mankind is no stranger to this, much to most people dismay; we have served a

Page 2
long history of slavery, racism, wealth problems as well as communal concerns. With this said
many people families have been divided due to each persons own personal beliefs. In fact,
global injustice is said to be something that has shaped the world according to an article titled
German Politics and Society by Daniel Levy and Natan Sznaider. This article continues to speck
of the injustice the people of the Jewish faith had to suffer through during that time. The
problems they suffered being of an unholy nature, they were force to work, hide so they could
live, they were force to deny their belief and where punished because they were viewed as
different. This has been a prime, very tragic, example of injustice our world has endured. Many
stories of this nature have been repetitive in our humankind nature because history repeats itself
over and over.
As history repeats itself today in 2015-2016, racial, social, and wealth injustice is still
strongly founding. Politics has currently shown major illustrations of these three factors. The
campaign of 2016 has brought up many ugly faces, like Donald Trump and Hilary Clintons
words and actions. Hate sells. Racism, bigotry and misogyny-this has been the words from the
New York Times as they talked about the Campaign for these two nominees. This election year
has been an exhausting parade of ugliness. Over these eighteen months period they talk about
the social and wealth injustice that the nominees have overcame compared to any other average
Joe. Such as Hilary Clinton, whose case was overseen by the FBI, there was much controversy
about her being the culprit of deleting over 33,000 emails, but the FBI confirmed that she had
deleted 17,000 work related emails during her time as secretary of the white house. For any
average Joe stuck in that position, they would be sentenced to do some major jail time, because
who knows what could have been in those documents. This is a leading example of social and

Page 3
wealth injustice, Clinton being a woman of upper class, as well as once being the First Lady, she
did not have to suffer any major consequences all of this information being conformed by an
article called Timeline of Hillary Clinton's Email Saga by Meghan Keneally on November 7,
2016. Next is Donald Trump, an experienced business man, his racial slur has been noted
throughout his whole campaign. His racial slur has targeted many people from many ethnicities
and social groups. He, himself, thinking he is the bigger man compared to most. These two
political figures have been in the American newsstand and media frequently. These political
figures and the manner that they choose to act are prime examples of Americas racial, social,
and wealth injustice.
Racial injustice has been demonstrated countless times out here in America as well for
example in the past; in the direct time of 1950s or so there is a long history of African-American
and Caucasian fighting. Caucasian, in simple words, was seen as the superior race and during
that time racism was very much alive and exposed. These two cultures feuding have had a very
historical impact into society such as in todays time with a group called The Black Lives Matter
Movement. This is international activist movement to show that all African American lives
matter, this movement has been going on for a while but has recently been brought up again in
2014, when there was a police-involved killing of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. This shooting
had brought up assumption of the killings being white hate crimes, and police brutality. This is
seen as racial injustice in many ways, the African American culture sees this as people attacking
their ethnicity, because of other historical hate crimes such as the death of Martin Luther King Jr.
While other ethnicities disagree and say that all lives matter, its not just African American
people that have endured spiteful crimes, it is also has happened to other races. Racial, social,

Page 4
and wealth injustices has been centered throughout history in many nations, and its impact is
always noticeable. This problem has affected our lives time and time again and it hurts to watch
more people suffer.
Injustice is an excellent example of the domino effect, when one thing get knocks down a
whole chain reaction is set in motion. Our past injustice has chain reacted and affected the
youth. In the early 1970 where the story of The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara is believed to take
place, this talks about a little girl of color who is taken into a toy store to see the prices as a
school trip, but finds herself angry while browsing the toy stories for unexplained reasons. Even
during that time period young ones found themselves in the mist of injustice or Back in the days
when everyone was old and stupid or young and foolish (Bambara 1), they were mad for reason
they didnt understand and it was problematic. Now in todays recent events, many more things
are being documented and children are becoming more aware to their surrendering and there
reality. This is the domino effect, one person shows there undignified ways and gets
documented, when it gets document it becomes a speculation, as it becomes a speculation
children watch their role models react to it. As their parents react to it and they watch as reality
slowly seeps into their senses they begin to understand what exactly goes on in the world. In
2001, a article was released talking about how children learn from there settings and with this
prejudice grows with them, it is inflected to them and then they dish it out, then this continues
the chain reaction of injustice.
Many people do not see this as the point, they dont see that social, wealth, and racial
injustice that goes on around them. Many just see this as people specking before thinking, they

believe that turning the blind eye to this is best, but that have failed to see the ongoing challenges
we have face. They blame it on todays rap and sometimes they go as far to blame the victims
who had suffered through these terrible traumatic moments. In 2002 a study was held that
Page 5
showed what people where bias- motivated offenses, 49.7% for race, 17.8% for religion,
16.6% for sexual orientation, 15.2% for ethnicity, and finally 0.5% for people who are disabled.
This is the percentage of what people are agents, and these percentages continue to grow.
We start down the block and she gets ahead which is O.K. by me cause Im going to the
West End and then over to the Drive to think this day through. She can run if she want to and
even run faster. But aint nobody gonna beat me at nuthin. (Bambara 6) We keep running
around the question of how can we solve injustice and this question has been passed on from
generation to generation. We, like the character from the lesson, speculate on why and what we
must do next. Well we can start with making sure that everyone knows that injustice is a real
thing. , and it not just something that has happened recently. We can also say that everyone
should be equal, everyone, this is including people who hold office. If someone does something
wrong then they must be treated like any other average Joe. We shouldnt riot about things being
unfair; we should have a peaceful approach because they always seem to be the most effective.
Finally we should aim for a better tomorrow and actually act on it, because actions speak louder
than words.
Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in
its presence and thereby eventually lose all ability to defend ourselves and those we love.
-Julian Assange. Thing has gone far enough, Social, wealth, and racial injustice has been

provoked and continued on for years, and our young ones, as well as ourselves shouldnt bare it.
Yet our characters have grown accustomed to it, we must take stand for restored tomorrow. Let

Page 6
us cure the things our ancestors let fall; hate should not be in our world, because to be
honest, life is too short to have these many problems.
