Pre-Observation
Before the observation is tried to figure out how teachers create their lesson plans. I was
able to find a website that contained lesson plans to try to compare to how Ms Cella does
it in her classroom.

VI.

Data
While Ms Cella was teacher her class on math I was able to get a glimpse from the
textbook she was teaching from. It was
from the Cengage company and it had a
day to day lesson for her to teach. As she
was teaching I noticed she would put her
own twist to it. Making it easier for the
students. After her lesson I was able to talk
to her on how she creates her lesson plans.
She mentioned she has to hand one in
every week on how she is going to teach
the lesson and the reasons behind it, and
what the outcome should be after she has
taught the students. She told me it usually
goes as planned but there are days where
some students fall a little behind she she
spends a little more time teaching to make sure the students are understanding. Most of
her project ideas do come from pinterest and or other teachers have helped her out with
ideas and projects they have done before. Ms Cella mentioned she is lucky that the staff
around her are always helping her. Since she has students that are categorized to be a
little under the norm she does tend to focus more on the lessons rather than teaching

them and just moving on. Unless she is confident about her students knowing the facts.
She creates objectives each week on each subject on what they should be learning that
week. For some subject it stayed the same longer than others.
VII.

Analysis
Overall Ms Cella creates her lessons plans based on what the textbooks provided by the
school. When making projects she usually gets creative and gets ideas from pinterest or
other teachers to make it more interesting and fun for the students. In the centers she does
keep the theme going to what they were previously learning. In the afternoon she does
change it and have it more relaxing for the students especially on Fridays.

VIII.

Recommendations
My recommendation is to have an alternative activity. Although most times her activities
do take up most of the time she did not mention that she has alternatives activities if one
finished before. On a different day with the substitute on her lesson plan it involved a lot
of reading and the students were getting tired. Centers were not mentioned and they were
beginning to get antsy. Colorado State University have tips on creating lesson plans and
they do mention to have alternative activities in case one does now last as long as you
have planned for. It is better to be safe and have the backup then not knowing what to do
right after. Especially if the lesson plan is going to left for a substitute teacher.

Post Observation
Over all her lesson plans are right to the book. I was able to understand how she tries to
plan things and create objectives for the week. Her lessons are always relative to what she
has previously taught and builds off of it.
