Article opens with an

image of a strawberry that
is red in blue in color. They
did this to show that
people can have one
common name for colors
but they see different
ones. There is thought that
the brain could process
colors differently. They did
a test on monkeys and
they found that the way
the brain perceives is in
response to experiences of
the outside world. This is
also related to color
blindness. They are looking
at gene therapy to find the
cure for red-green
colorblindness. How our
minds perceive colors is
linked to emotions and
how we respond to them.
Colors are linked to
emotions. We refer to
warm colors and cool
colors. We paint rooms and
choose make up shades
based on how the colors
make us feel. They also
say that the colors we use
in advertisements and on
websites causes different
emotional reactions from
different people. Warm and
cool colors refer to the
color scheme the hue
implies. Red, yellow,
orange, and like colors
would be warm colors.
They make rooms feel
warmer and more
comfortable. Cool colors
would be like blue, grey,
greens, and purples. Warm
colors make you feel
comfortable and happy
while cool colors make you
feel calm or soothed. They
say that cool colors can

I think it is really
interesting that
colorblindness might be
able to be reversed with
gene therapy. Maybe my
dad could see colors
properly! I also think it is
true that the way we see
colors is based on
emotions. When Im happy,
things just seem brighter
and happier. When Im sad,
things seem more drawn
out and sad.

When I was getting ready

to decorate for college, I
chose a cool color scheme
because it contrasted how
my home is. At home, my
mom has everything in a
warm color scheme to try
and warm and liven up our
house. I like greys and
whites and blues. They
make the space feel so
much more open and
soothing. I think that my
room at school is way more
comfortable for me
because it is a calm place
that I can relax and chill
out in.

actually make rooms feel

cooler. Colors are powerful
and emotion provoking.
Colors have a huge impact
on your mood. Colors you
use in your home can
impact your well-being as
well as your familys wellbeing. Emotional
responses to color depends
on their saturation and
brightness, while cultures
have association to
particular hues, explained
Dr. Sally Augustin. Red
easily stimulates your
energy, promoting
liveliness. Red can also
increase pulse and blood
pressure which is why it
may not be good for a
bedroom. Yellow is not
seen as a good color for a
room because it produces
feelings of frustration and
anger. Black invokes
feelings of staying indoors,
a very reclusive color.
White makes rooms more
open and airy. Orange
makes your hungry, which
is why it would be good for
a kitchen or dining room.
Purple is a creative color. It
makes you want to be
more creative. Brown feels
cozy and safe. Pink is seen
as joyful and bright. It is
good for little girls. Green
is a tranquil color and will
make you seem more
composed. Blues are cool
and soothing.
Our eyes have special cells
in them that make us see
colors. These cells are
called cones. When light
hits objects, some of it is
absorbed and some of it is
reflected. When you look
at an object, the
wavelengths of light that is

When I grow up and have

to get my own house, I will
definitely keep these
things in mind when
picking out colors for my
house. My mom did a
really great job when she
was decorating our house
because each room in our
house has a color that
evokes these feelings. Like
my room at home is a
beige. I feel safe in there
because the color just
calms me down and makes
me feel like its a good
place to be.

I think this article was

went into the science of

found it interesting that it
broke it down. The banana

reflected is what you see.

These are measured in
nanometers. Light waves
hit light sensitive parts of
your eye called the retina.
Thats where we see
colors. Some eyes see
green more, red more, or
blue more strongly.
Humans are better at
discerning colors than
other mammals. Bird and
fish see colors better than
humans.
Color is processed in more
than just one part of the
brain. We process colors
the same way monkeys do.
They found this out by
measuring blood flow to
the brain while they looked
at color and black and
white images. Color helps
you recognize things

example was a good

example because yellow is
a brighter color.

The main purpose of this

article is to talk about the
debate of whether red or
blue improves brain
performance more.
Apparently, both can. It
does depend on the nature
of the task though.
Creative tasks are better
with red and memory and
proofreading are better
with blue. We associate red
with danger, mistakes, and
caution. Red makes us
vigilant. Blue enhances
cognitive tasks. Blue is
associated with openness,
tranquility, and peace.

I think this is totally

true. I am much more
comfortable and at
peace in a place where
blue is a prominent
color. I think this
especially when Im at
the beach near the blue
water or even just
looking up at the sky.
Red makes me think of
bad things like
stopping, blood,
frustration, and anger.

I think its so interesting

that we see colors in the
same way as monkeys. It
does not surprise me
though as we have
common ancestors and we
are closely related animals.
I think its cool that we use
colors to recognize things,
too. Like red means stop,
green means go kind of
thing.

The sun radiates more

yellow light than any other
color. Because humans see
so much yellow light from
the sun, we can distinguish
yellow the fastest. Yellow is
a unique color for human
eyes, though. It all has to
do with the cone cells in
the eyes. To see colors, the
brain find the difference
between levels of
excitement in the cones of
our eyes. To see other
colors, the brain finds the
difference in luminance
signals.
Color-blindness is the
inability to distinguish the
differences between
colors. It happens because
there is a lack in a colorsensitive pigment in your
retina. Most people are
color-blind since birth.
Color-blind people have a
hard time seeing red,
green, and blue. They also
have a hard time seeing
combinations of these
colors. The most common
color-blindness people
suffer from would be redgreen color-blindness. This
makes red and green look
like the same color. Colorblindness is tested by
showing pictures that are
made up of dots of
different colors and seeing
if you are able to
distinguish the colors.
Dogs can see about onetenth of the color
concentration humans see.
Dogs can really on see two
colors- blue-violet and
yellow. They can also see a
combination of those two
colors that result in
different pigments as well.
They also see grey. Dogs

This was so scientific at

times I had to find
myself looking more
things up online to get
clarification. I did like
that it went into a lot of
detail and I enjoyed
that part of it. It started
to make sense when I
got to the diagrams.

This was cool because

it broke it down into
sections. I liked that
this article had a lot of
visuals. It connects to
the last article I read
which was more aimed
at kids. This was a good
pre reading for that
article because the
latter will make it
easier for me to
understand.

would be interesting
to see how Zeus

new colors. I think
dogs are so
advanced
evolutionarily
because they can
tell the different

shades of grey and
see differences in
lighting better. Dogs
have awesome
night vision as well.
I wear contacts and
I know my night

humans can go
through gene
therapy to get night

Color blindness is
hereditary. It is passed
down from generation to
generation. You get it from
the genes your parents
give you. If your dad is
color blind, chances are
that you or one of siblings
is also color blind. It is
more common in boys than
girls. Nurses and eye
doctors look for color
blindness by showing
patients a picture made up
on different colors.

I liked this article

because it kind of
dumbed it down for me.
I knew what color
blindness was but this
made it easier to
understand because it
was written to make
children understand
color-blindness. I also
enjoyed the fact that it
included an image of
the test they use to see
if you are colorblind.
