Reflection
Pretests are very beneficial to the steps that a teacher will take to
cover the material in the next unit. The questions in the pretests need to
give the teacher an idea as to whether the students in their class truly know

Page 1

the information being asked, not just guessed. After the pretests have been
graded, teachers can see what information and standards that the students
know and have mastered, standards they somewhat know and need to spend
little time on, and standards that they do not know and need to be taught.
This information can help a teacher spend their teaching time wisely and
hammer the information that the students are ignorant to. By giving a
pretest, teachers can also locate misconceptions that students may have on
a subject. If multiple kids choose the same incorrect answer there is
something that is believed by students and needs to be addressed. Pretests
help teachers see what their students already know and dont know, spend
teaching time wisely, and locate misconceptions.
