The Wilson/McClung Family

History
Kaila Wilson
UWRT 1104-021

Getting
Started
In order for me to have
somewhat of a starting
point for my project, my
mother sent me the
family tree she got on her
wedding day that lists all
of the marriages on her
side of the family and my
fathers side. This also
came in handy for
references of birthdays
and looking up family
records.

McClung Family Tree

The McClung Family Tree goes back
through 9 generations, branching off all of
the family members from Dr. William
Henry McClung and Adeline Elizabeth
Thompson.

Marriages

On December 8th of 1996 my grandmother (my

mothers mother) and grandfather (by marriage) got
married.
My mother and my father had me in
January of 1998, married on June 6th, 1999
and divorced in the year of 2001. Before
the marriage, my mothers maiden name
was Seagle, but then became a Wilson,
hence where I get my last name.

My grandmother on my moms side was married to

my moms dad, before they divorced and my
grandmother remarried in 1996. Her maiden name is
McClung and after her first marriage she became a
Seagle (which is my mothers maiden name), but now
happily resides as a Setliff.

Immediate Family
(Mothers side)

The immediate family on my mothers side,

which is the center of my project would
include my mother, my grandmother, and
my uncle.

My Grandmother

My grandmother with her father

Billie Sharon McClung or Sherry

McClung (Setliff), who is better
known as my grandmother, was
born on January 20th, 1948 and
is thankfully still around today.
She has two other sisters, Pattie
McClung (Crawford) and Toni
Karen McClung. Her parents are
Ruthaline Sims McClung and
William Smoot McClung. Her
father, also known as Bill, was
enlisted in the army during
WWII and was a Master
Sergeant. As a young girl my
grandmother travelled all over
the country and even lived in
Germany due to her father's
work.

William Smoot McClung and Ruthaline Sims McClung married

on February 26th, 1946. My great grandmother was around
when I was born, but she passed just a couple of years later
in 2001. I dont have much memory of her, with me being an
infant and all, but everyone in my family now has the
infamous picture of me sitting in Nannys lap. According to
my grandmother I never met my great grandfather, since he
lived so far out compared to the rest of the family.

My Great-Great-Grandfather

Homer Hannah
McClung married
Francis Smoot.
They are the
parents of William
Smoot McClung
and my
grandmothers
grandparents.
After the Selective
Service Act
passed, Homer
registered for the
draft.

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather
Dr. William Henry McClung is the 4th
generation of McClung's to reside in West
Virginia. His grandparents came over from
Ireland/Scotland and brought the McClung
family name to the eastern part of America. He
served in the Civil War on the Confederate side
and went into his own at home study of
medicine. He became one of the best
physicians in all of West Virginia and was one of
the best farmers in the east.
