Molly Harrington, 10, of
Pomfret, remembered how
happy her father, Kenneth
Harrington, was on the day
he dressed a bit spiffy to go
to her grandfathers birthday
party.
And that is the emotion
she captured in her Fathers
Day portrait, which depicts
her father grinning a bit
crookedly with a slightly sar-
donic expression, her father
noted.
She spiced it up a little
bit, Kenneth said of the
drawing, which he admired
for its accuracy. She got the
blue eyes captured well.
Hes always happy, Molly
said of her father, who she re-
called was speechless when
he first saw the portrait.
On the drawing, Molly
wrote: The Man, The Leg-
end, The Myth.
Hes just awesome, Har-
rington said of her father,
whose blue eyes glimmer in
the diamond shape of an ani-
me character one of Mol-
lys favorite genres to draw.
It was very flattering,
Kenneth said of the portrait.
It was the first time shes
ever drawn me, and it was
most definitely special. It was
really cool, a very nice treat.

One of the childhood bonds
between father and son was
drawn in detail in Wyatt Gor-
dons Fathers Day drawing.
The 9-year-old Norwich
boy drew the baseball dia-
mond, with stick figures busi-
ly engrossed in their game. A
figure on home plate clutches
a bat, and a bubble bursts
with the news: Home Run.
Glenn Gordon, Wyatts fa-
ther, is the coach for his sons
Little League team.
Im astounded, Im very
pleased, Glenn said of the
drawing, which his son did at
his grandmothers house.
His son, Glenn said, loves
to draw, and often their
kitchen table has a large roll
of paper spread out on it,
with one of Wyatts large
drawings in progress.
You can see the gears turn-
ing as hes trying to configure
imaginary space things. He
actually formulates a plan on
what all the things on paper
do, his father said.
But for his Fathers Day
drawing, Wyatt preferred re-
ality.
