Semester Long Project Proposal
Overview:
For our semester long multimodal project, David and I are digging deep into the topic of
Immigration policy. We will provide a general idea of the policy, but we would also like to go
into depth with the policy during the time frame from the 1970s to present day. We want to
elaborate on the difference between the policy in the 1970s from the policy of today. There is
clearly a huge difference in the policy from what it used to be, but the real question is why?.
Back then it was considerably easier to immigrate to the United States, but now there is a long
and difficult process in order to do so. We are going to explain and demonstrate a clear difference
between the two time periods with the use of outside information. We will be using articles,
government websites, and other online resources to conduct this project.
Project Plan:
We plan on presenting a powerpoint of the Immigration policy throughout the decades.
We are going to be using a powerpoint medium to show our presentation. Whether it be
Microsoft Powerpoint, Prezi, or Google Slides. Starting with the 1970s, we plan to include the
post-Vietnam War, who came to America, and why, and what the policy was like during this
time. We will do this for every decade up until the present time. We also plan to include our
personal family stories between the two of us. Although we ended up in the same place, our
families journeys will be significantly different. Towards the end of the powerpoint, we plan on

talking about the upcoming election in November and how that may affect immigration in the
future. We will also make a video showing immigration statistics through the decades.
Immigration has always been a controversial topic on whether immigrants belong here on in their
native countries. At the end, we plan on giving a quiz on Kahoot that include questions from the
US Citizenship Test to question who knows their country and who doesnt.

Justification:
Every single person has an origin, whether it be where you came from or where you
currently live. A large proportion of individuals and their families had immigrated from many
different parts of the world. This also goes the same for David and I. I feel like the subject of the
immigration policy would have some kind of effect on people in our class, and we would like to
educate everyone on it. In order to accomplish the goal of educating the class about the
immigration policy, we will make a organized powerpoint to show the class clearly how the
policy affects everyone. We will also include the kahoot quiz in order to prove to the class the
considerably difficult process one must take to become a citizen. A video will also be
incorporated into the project for visual purposes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
David and I plan on making the presentation together. We plan on splitting up the
research on the decades down the middle and doing the present time research together. It is up to
our individual selves to supply the stories of our families immigration. David is in charge of
making the Kahoot quiz and making it presentable. Jimmy is in charge of making a video
showing a brief overview of the immigration statistics throughout the decades. We will also work
together on writing the essay.

Conclusion:
Our goal for this project is to be able to shine light on immigration. We were all
immigrants at one point in our family history. But, sometimes we forget on why we came here
and what it took. We want to talk about the struggles of immigrants and why it is hard for them
to start in a new country. Reminding others of our ancestors struggles will hopefully open up
their minds about how fortunate they are. We want to talk about first generation immigrants and
their struggles to overcome hardships in America.
