Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing
Opportunity in your classroom: Prior to the students submitting their own stories, I would
want my students to navigate the various tabs of the website, KidPub.com. I would have students
look under the Read Stories tab and read various stories that other students published on the
website. I would have my students submit their narrative writings on their Time Machine story.
This particular narratives prompt is, Suppose you had invented a time machine. Write a story
about what you did with it.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? Computer or mobile device and wifi access
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of
them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high
LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: Students are both collaborating within groups in their own
classroom, as well as with other students of other classrooms by sharing each
others writings with one another.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students are
using their own creativity to compose a writing piece about what they would do if
they invented a time machine.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students will compose a web entry of their narrative
writing. Students will also provide feedback to other students writing entries.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: Students are sharing their finished writing pieces with other students
within their age group/grade/reading level.

What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why?
Level 5: Expansion The work is student-centered, and students are expanding their
communication regarding their assignment with students outside of their classroom. Students
are publishing a final product for an audience outside of the classroom to be able to view.

How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your
districts Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies? Permission from parents will be asked
prior to students submitting any of their writings online. I will send home a permission slip for
parents to agree or decline to letting their child be able to communicate with another student
through the website KidPub.com. I will monitor the communications between the students and
their online collaborative readers/writers.
