Apple Crumble Pie (Paspasan version)

Ingredients:
Crust
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
1 block butter cut into cubes
1/4 cup iced water
Filling
3 apples chopped
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp flour dissolved in water
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
Crumble topping
1/2 cup flour, sifted
1/4 block butter cut into cubes
1/4 cup brown sugar
Procedure:
For the crust
1. Cut the butter into the flour until flour becomes lumpy (like breadcrumbs)
2. While cutting the butter, add iced water 1 tbsp at a time, continue cutting u
ntil flour and butter mixture becomes soft kneadable
3. Form the flour-butter mixture into a ball, wrap in plastic and chill for 1 ho
ur
4. After an hour, take the dough out and knead again using a rolling pin, then f
old and form into a ball (repeat step 3)
For the filling
1. In a heated pan, place chopped apples, cinnamon and sugar and cook until appl
es become soft, mix occasionally
2. When apples are tender, add flour dissolved in water, mix until consistency t
hickens, then add the remaining water. Turn off heat and let cool
For the crust
1. Get the dough out of the fridge and knead flat, then form into a shell on a r
ound pie tray (pyrex or tin, then place the filling.
2. For the crumble, follow step 1 of the crust procedure and gradually add in th
e sugar. The cover the filling using the crumble topping.
Bake at 180 degrees celsius for 30 minutes or until crust is flaky. Let cool the
n slice and serve.
