Development/ Assessments
PowerPoint:
40 min

Go over chapter 9 as a class by asking the students to write

down the guiding questions for that chapter and have a class
discussion.

Guiding Questions:
- What does Holden think of doing at the start of this chapter?
And why?
- The cab driver thinks Holden is crazy for asking him a certain
question. What is this question? And is it a question that he has
been concerned about before?
-What does Holden say about the bellboy? And what does this
reveal about Holdens character?

Put up the summary on chapter 9 on the PowerPoint so students

can write down anything they missed from the discussion.

2. Read chapter 10 with the audio book. Afterwards students will have
to answer the guiding questions.

10 min

Guiding Questions:
-Who does Holden talk about a lot, but cannot bring himself to
call?
-Where does Holden decide to go to in the hotel? Who does he
meet there?

-What happens to Holden at the end of the chapter?

Activity:
For the first question, we will also do a short activity called Would You
Like to Use Your Lifeline? I will simply ask the students to think about
Holden in these chapters and how he yearns to talk to his sister Phoebe
and ask them who they would call for help when they need it the most,
and why.

After the class discussion I will put up the summary of chapter

10 on the PowerPoint for the students to write down anything
they missed from the discussion.

REFLECTION:

PROFESSIONAL
COMPETENCIE
S ADDRESSED:

Competency 2: To communicate clearly in the language of instruction,

both orally and in writing, using correct grammar, in various contexts
related to teaching.

While I am teaching my lesson, I will have to show

professionalism and communicate in a clear and engaging way. I
will also make sure I am using the correct grammar and
vocabulary.

Competency 5: To evaluate student progress in learning the subject

content and mastering the related competencies.

As the students are answering the guiding questions, I will be

able to see if the students understand the chapters of the book. It
will also lead to a class discussion.

Competency 6: To plan, organize and supervise a class in such a way

as to promote students learning and social development.

I will make sure that my lesson is as clear and organized as

much as possible for students to understand the main idea of the
lesson. I will also make sure that students are paying attention
and encourage them to participate in the activities.

Competency 8: To integrate information and communications

technologies (ICT) in the preparation and delivery of teaching/learning
activities and for instructional management and professional
development purposes.

My lesson will first start off with a Kahoot quiz. Afterwards, I

will put up my PowerPoint to give students a visual of the
lesson. I will also make them watch a short clip and use an
audio of the book for chapter 10.
