Mobile Attendance System

Introduction
Attendance is a vital part of daily routine in educational institutes, offices and many
other organizations. In schools and colleges this attendance marking is done
manually but with advent of new technologies like smart phones, iPad, tablets,
palmtops the world is just a click away. Today, we need not use pen and paper
based attendance registers instead we can use very easy and efficient methods like
taking e-attendance. Based on this idea we have made a project which is a base of
mobile application (MAttS App) here M stands for Mobile Att is abbreviation for
Attendance and S stands for System. This mobile application will require
connecting to the internet through Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) technology

Objectives
The faculty just have to download and installed the application and then connect it
to the server to add the names and other details of the students and then, without
putting more efforts and being paperless and also pen/pencil less, the faculty can
take attendance on his/her smartphone and thus reducing the afraid of losing of
documents or register of attendance and also saving a lot of time and efforts and
also save the chances of putting proxy by the students.

To students, will be able to notify the student about their status before they allowed
to sitting the examination
To lecturers, will help to calculate and generate status of student with easier and
efficiency. Lecturer are able to get easily access and view the information of the
attendance report.
To management, will help to decide easily which student to be barred from
examination

Application features and Description

The mobile attendance system has been built to eliminate the time and effort
wasted in taking attendances in schools, colleges and universities. It also greatly
reduces the amount of paper resources needed in attendance data management.
The system is divided into following modules:
This application runs on smart phones. Its built to be used for
school/college/universities faculty so that they may take student attendance on
their phones.

Student Attendance List Creation: Once this App is installed on a phone, it

allows user to create a student attendance sheet consisting of name, roll number,
date, Absent/Present mark and subject.
Attendance Marking: The faculty has the list on his phone now. He may see the
list call roll numbers and select absent id the student is absent or select present if
student is present.
Attendance Storage: This data is now stored in the faculty mobile phone. Faculty
may also view it anytime on their phone.
Attendance sheet transfer: The faculty can transfer the file to a server (normal
computer) via a Bluetooth connection where this data can be stored and maintained
by the school or college.

Advantage:

The system eliminates the use of paperwork needed for attendance marking
and monitoring.
The file can be transferred from mobile to computer or server via Bluetooth.
This gives the overall performance of class in attendance.
There is no need for laptop or computer in every class to run the system as
the system is run on mobile so no need of extra efforts and resources.
The app is easy to install and use.

Disadvantages:

The system can be run on android platform only. Though most of the mobiles
now are android version and available in reasonable rate so it won't be a big
issue.

Applications:

The system can be used in schools, college or coaching classes.

Also it has wide scope in future where there is attendance to be taken. This
app is best to use.

Conclusion
This project will help the lecturers to reduce their workload by reducing the time and calculations
required to update the attendance manually. Students and their parents will also view the attendance and
curriculum details using the website.
