30. What insight did you gain about the immigration history of the US from your reading of the
Irish/Italian immigration stories, and what similarities are their with today's immigration patterns to
include work and opportunities in the US.
The history of Irish/ Italian immigrants to US reveals the love- hate relationships and problems faced
by US due to racial issues between Irish and Italian communities. The number of Italian immigrants
started increasing in 1880s and resulted in creased competition of jobs for Irish and Italian people. the
increase in Italian and Irish workforce gave rise to many workplace issues including discrimination,
workplace tension and uncooperative environment. History depicts that the arrival of Irish and Italian
people in US resulted in prejudice and mistrust among employees that also affected their working
ability and performances. These factors did not affected the flow of migrants to US and the trend kept
on increasing.
