Locking Klaw

Lifting Systems for Civil Engineering Applications

Safety clutch which locks to

the anchor head

Unilift is the ideal lifting and handling system for a wide variety of
precast concrete products, particularly in civil engineering applications.
These clutches are typically used for lifting panels, pipes, pits,
manholes, box culverts, road barriers, bridge beams, planks, sound
walls, culverts etc.

Unilift Locking Klaw

These strong, safe, lightweight clutches suit all spherical head lifting anchors. They protect against
dangerous disconnection where there is a risk of fouling which is a common problem when
lowering precast drainage products in confined spaces like trenches.

Reo (eye) Anchors

These anchors are used with a hanger bar, also
known as a tension bar, where the concrete is too
weak for a cone anchor. They are ideal for thin
panels and other applications where the concrete
shear cone developed by the anchor is insufficient
to provide the working load limit of the anchor
e.g. low strength concrete. The bar is threaded
through the hole in the anchor and embedded
deep in the concrete. Like the cone anchors
above, they are manufactured from hot-dipped
galvanised, forged, high impact strength
construction steel, and are stamped with a Unilift
U, the anchor strength WLL and length.

Ancon Reinforcement
Ancon manufactures a wide range of engineered reinforcement systems
for use at construction joints in concrete. Products include threaded
starter bars, reinforcing bar couplers, headed anchors and re-bend
continuity systems. Stainless steel reinforcement is also available.

Unicoil Products
UniCoil16 are threaded starter bars for connecting panels and floors in precast and tilt-up
construction. UniCoil has a higher yield (137kN) and ultimate tensile strength (179kN) than
standard N16 bars, so less reinforcement may be required saving material and labour.
The smooth, continuously rolled UniCoil thread is fast and simple to install.
UniCoil16 is suitable for use with a QwikFoot ferrule which is ideal where an efficient, slip-free,
full bar strength, headed anchorage is required.

Parallel Thread Systems

Metric Threaded Bars
Metric Threaded Bars, otherwise known as Starter Bars, are used for joining wall panels to floor
panels, in addition to wall panels to mezzanine floors. The bars are suitable for use with the
Qwikfoot ferrules and round ferrules range after the panels have been erected to join the floors,
providing a full strength, slip-free connection.
This starter bar provides a cost-effective solution due to its high strength, which can consequently
mean less reinforcement may be required saving materials and labour.

BT Couplers
BT Couplers are the smallest in the Ancon range and are the most cost-effective when used on
large scale, high volume projects. The end of the bar is cut square and enlarged by cold forging,
before a parallel metric thread is cut.
The threaded end can be proof tested to a force equal to the characteristic yield strength of the bar.

Reinforcement
Keybox Reinforcement
Continuity Systems
This system is a quick and easy method of
maintaining continuity of reinforcement at
construction joints in concrete. It comprises a
galvanised steel casing, with a dimpled surface
to provide effective concrete bond, which
houses pre-bent bars beneath a protective
cover.
The unit is nailed to formwork. After pouring
the concrete and striking the formwork, the
cover is removed to expose the bars. The bars
are straightened using a Keybox re-bending
tool, ready for lapping with other reinforcement.

 Simplifies formwork design

 No drilling of formwork
 Minimises exposure to projecting bars
Bar embedment depth is 130mm as standard
(from front of casing); larger or smaller depths
are available on request.
Full details of the standard Keybox range are available in the Ancon Reinforcement Continuity
Systems brochure, which also includes a form to summarise non-standard system requirements.

Standard casing lengths are 1000mm and

1200mm; other sizes are available as specials.

KSN Anchor Reinforcement

Continuity Systems
Ancon KSN Anchors, in conjunction with BT
parallel-threaded reinforcing bars, provide
continuity of reinforcement at construction
joints. This system is ideal for use where
re-bending of bars is keen to be avoided or
the continuation bar is too long to be fitted in
a continuity box.
For maximum versatility, the anchors can be
installed in a number of ways e.g. a metal
casing, a reusable mould or individually with
a nailing plate.

Halfen HTA and HZA Cast-In Channels

When fixing to concrete, Halfen cast-in
channels provide almost unlimited adjustment
along the line of the channel and can eliminate
expensive site drilling. Cast-in fixings do not
generate expansive forces in the concrete and
can be used at close centres and closer to
edges than expansion fixings.
Lugs protruding from the back of the channel
provide a high performance anchorage. Nail
holes aid the fixing of the channels to timber
formwork and an infill prevents the ingress of
concrete during casting.

Toothed channels have serrations or teeth cut

into the returned lips of the channel. The T
head bolts used to fix to these channels have a
matching serrated surface on the underside of
the head which provides a high resistance to
slip under longitudinal shear load.
Halfen channels are available in hotdipped galvanised steel or stainless
steel, depending on the level of
corrosion resistance required.

Fixing to channels is by T head bolts which

are inserted into the channel and turned
through 90 ready for fixing any structural
element.
In precast concrete construction, cast-in
channels are ideal for use with connection
plates at panel-to-panel and panel-to-column
intersections. They can also be used to join
steelwork to concrete panels.

HCC Column Shoe with HAB

Anchor Bolts
This system is a fast and efficient means of
connecting precast concrete columns to
foundations. It can also be used to form
continuous columns which have been
prepared as independent precast components.
The connection between the elements is
immediately load-bearing eliminating the need
for assembly braces.

HCC Column shoe

HAB Anchor Bolts are set into the foundation

slab using a fitting template. Concrete columns
are supplied to site ready to assemble, with
HCC Column Shoes cast into each base. The
elements are then mechanically connected
together and the recess is sealed with mortar

Halfen Fixings

to complete the installation.

The HAB Anchor Bolt can be supplied as a

straight or bent bar, or as a headed anchor.

Seal Mortar
The full final load bearing capacity is only provided if the joint under the column is filled with lowshrink seal mortar; available from Ancon in 25kg bags.
More product information is available from the Halfen HCC Column Shoe literature available to
download from www.ancon.com.au. Halfen also provides calculation software to simplify the
selection and dimensioning of HCC column shoes and HAB anchor bolts.

Sandwich Panel Anchors

Sandwich panels are a thermally-efficient, multi-layer, reinforced concrete

cladding system, typically comprising an aesthetic facing layer, an insulation
layer and a load-bearing structural layer.
Halfen sandwich panel anchors connect the
facing and load-bearing components together,
transferring the stresses acting on the front of
the building to the load-bearing structure
behind. The anchors are subject to corrosion
and are therefore manufactured from stainless
steel.

Although the anchors pass through the

insulation layer thereby forming a heat bridge,
the small cross-sectional area of the anchors
combined with the low thermal conductivity of
stainless steel mean they have a negligible
impact on the thermal performance of the
system.

SP-MVA Sleeve Anchors

These cylindrical sleeve anchors are
manufactured in a sheet thickness of 1.5mm
and are marked with the anchor height and
diameter. They feature round holes to accept
reinforcement and oval holes to allow for the
passage of concrete around the anchor.

SP-FA Flat Anchors

These flat anchors are manufactured in a sheet
thickness of 1.5, 2 or 3mm and are marked
with the anchor height, length and thickness.
Like the MVA anchor they also feature round
holes to accept reinforcement and oval holes to
allow for the passage of concrete around the
anchor.

SP-SPA Wire Anchors

These V-shaped anchors are manufactured from round bar in diameters from 5mm to 10mm. Reinforcement passes through the bends at either end of
the anchor. They are marked with coloured adhesive labels showing the type, diameter and height.

Connector pins (SPA-N), stirrup ties (SPA-B) and clip-on pins (SPA-A) are also available.

This faade hanging system consists of a vertically adjustable threaded rod, a lower
section cast into the concrete panel (with or without horizontal adjustment), and a
spacer bar to allow adjustments in cavity size. It is used to tie thin precast concrete
faades back to the main structure of the building.

This product can be used with Halfen HTA castin channels. Additional accessories of this
product include bolts, turnbuckles, ties and
plates.

CCL Pre-Stressing Accessories

Ancon is the approved distributor of CCL pre-stressing products and equipment.
CCL Products

CCL grips are accepted as the industry standard and represent more
than five decades of continuous development. All CCL components
are marked with their batch number in order to allow traceability.

Open Grips Barrels

and Wedges

Spring Loaded
Anchors

Double-ended joints

Open Grips Barrels and Wedges

Open grips should only be used at the
stressing end (live end) of the bed with a
hydraulic jack incorporating power lock-off. If
power lock-off is not available then springloaded grips should be used. The wedges are
made up of two segments for use with wire
and three for use with strand.
Double-ended joints
DEJ/DEJ reducers can be used to connect
wire/strand together midspan. Where a
reducing joint is used, the pre-stressing force
should never exceed 80% of the
manufacturers specified minimum breaking
load for the smallest wire or strand being used.
Spring Loaded Anchors
Spring-loaded anchors or grips should always
be used at the non-stressing end of the bed.
They should also be used at the stressing end
where jacks without power lock-off are being
used.

CCL Equipment

CCL equipment is designed, manufactured and assembled with the same attention to detail as that used in
the production of its components. An experienced team, which also provides customer support on
technical issues, assembles, calibrates and certifies all equipment before despatch to the customer.
CCL Stressing Jacks
These have been the worlds leading jacks for
more than 50 years. First developed in the
1960s, they combine advanced design with
uncompromising quality to deliver the ultimate
in high performance and efficiency. CCL Jacks
are designed and assembled by CCL
engineers to the highest standards, offering
optimum safety and many years of reliable
operation.
Full technical records are maintained which
demonstrate compliance of equipment with
safety criteria, and the Company carries out
both traceability and cyclical pressure testing
on each jack, prior to release to the customer.
CCL Pumps
Using the best hydraulic components on the
market, CCL Pumps are built to provide
unrivalled performance and reliability. Each has
a full technical record to prove equipment
safety compliance requirements and are
checked for traceability and tested for pressure
before release to the customer.

CCL Pumps deliver multiple pressures to

accelerate the stressing operation, while
maintaining control for precise stressing when
needed. State-of-the-art force control systems
give accurate multiple input and allow
downloading of output to Laptop or Palmtop
computers for storage, analysis and printing.

Both types of CCL Pump come in various sizes

and voltages.

SR3000 pumps are of a robust design and

come complete with a protection frame as
standard. The high build quality and
specifications of the parts used ensure a high
reliability and low maintenance life. They offer
rapid, reliable two speed stressing operations
up to 18mm strand.
The SRX pump is
designed as a
compact lightweight
alternative to the
SR3000 unit and is
capable of delivering
excellent performance
on small strand
diameters.

Lubrication
The correct lubrication of jack wedges is
essential to prolong life and ease dismantling
of the grip after stressing. Two lubrication
products are available. A molybdenum-based
aerosol release agent dries to form a hard
coating on the wedge around ten minutes after
application, while Super Dippy lubricant
remains in a fluid state after being liberally
applied to the components of the grip.
Cleaning
A range of brushes is available for the cleaning
of wedges and barrels. These are designed to
fit standard drill chucks. The barrel brushes are
specially tapered to effectively clean the inside
body of the barrel.

Force Control
Force control systems are available which allow
the programming of the pump to automatically
deliver accurate and consistent pre-stressing
force. The units also allow for the download of
data from the pre-stressing operation, for
recording or analysis.
Calibration Units
Digital Calibration Units can be supplied to
allow Jacks and pumps to be calibrated quickly
and economically on site. They feature a clear
digital readout, a rechargeable battery and
mains operation.

Grip Release Tools

CCL Grip release tools are precision-machined
alloy products used to aid the release of
wedges from barrels. The tool is inserted into
the bearing end of the barrel until in contact
with the wedge. A sharp hammer blow is then
delivered to the tool to break the contact
between the wedge and barrel without
damaging either component.
Replacement Parts
Approved spare parts and maintenance kits
are available from CCL. In order to maintain
equipment in good working order, CCL
recommends the carrying of a small stock of
CCL replacement parts such as jack wedges
and seal spares kits. This also avoids
interruption in the pre-stressing process when
it becomes necessary to change a jack wedge
and nose.
