Setting up your computer for first time use

TOOLS

This document provides general instructions to set up your new computer at the office. Packages vary slightly,
therefore this is not a comprehensive guide. With this guide, any team member can have their desktop set up
in less than 30 minutes with no tools required. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your local
field technician or the Wealth Management Help Desk at 1-877-551-6902. The minimum components this package contains includes:

DANGER!
Risk of electrical shock present, ensure all devices are powered off prior to inserting or removing
plugs.

CAUTION!
Inserting cords into the incorrect place can result in equipment malfunction. All connections
require little to no effort when inserted properly, unless otherwise noted.

Setting up the Computer Hardware


Unpackaging and Setting Up Desktop Hardware

1.
Open package and perform full inventory. If pieces are missing, contact the Wealth Management

Order Center

2.
Set HP Docking Station on desktop, with rectangular box on the right-hand side.

3.
Set HP monitor on desktop in desired location

4.
Insert Surge Protector into wall socket

5.
Flip Switch to reset

6.
If no light appears, contact Wealth Management Order Center for replacement

NOTE: if Surge Protector does not work, you can temporarily plug devices into wall socket.

Connecting and Testing Docking Station








1.
Locate 65W docking station power supply
2.
Connect the three-pronged end of power supply to surge protector.
3.
Connect circular end of power supply to docking station
NOTE: Connection should be on the back of docking station, on far-right hand side.
4.
Turn power button on docking station.
Result: If power symbol illuminates, power cable is connected correctly.
NOTE: turn off docking station after testing

Connecting and Testing Monitor







1.
Locate the monitor power cord
2.
Insert three-pronged end to surge protector
3.
Insert alternate end into back of monitor.
4.
Press power button on monitor
Result: A green light will illuminate on the bezel and a Check Video Cable message on the screen
NOTE: turn off monitor after testing

Connecting the Rest



1.
Network cable

a.
Locate the Cat5e cable.

b.
Insert one end into the wall jack labeled data

Note: you will hear a click when properly seated

c.
Insert other end of cable into docking station, plug is located on back side, just left of
power supply cord

Note: you will hear a click when properly seated

Video Cable
a.
Locate VGA to DisplayPort
b.
Insert VGA end (blue plug) into back of monitor
c.
Hand tighten securing screws
d.
Connect DisplayPort plug into docking station. Plug is located on the back, next to the
network cable

CAUTION:
Damage to DisplayPort plugs if inserted incorrectly, plugs are asymmetrical and the side
with one corner clipped should be on top.

Remaining Peripherals

a.
Locate Keyboard and Mouse

b.
Insert bother Keyboard and Mouse into individual USB ports

NOTE: Both keyboard and mouse have the same USB plug, and can be interchanged in the docking

station.

Powering on the Laptop



1.
Power on your monitor

2.
Set your laptop onto the docking station, prongs are located on docking station to ensure proper
alignment

3.
Slide eject bar in to connect laptop to docking station

NOTE: you will hear two clicks as it latches on.

4.
Press the Power button on the docking station

Result: You will see an HP loading screen followed by Checkpoint security screen and the computer is

now set up as a desktop replacement.
If this is your first-time logging into a Wells Fargo system, please ask your manager for your username
and temporary password. If you are having any issues setting up your workstation or logging in, please
