In the past there were many factors that lead to the bad treatment of Cubans and factors
that lead to many U.S. deaths. There is an article written by the library of congress that shows
how Cubans were mistreated because the Spanish people thought they were inferior to them and
how their despair of finding gold lead to many U.S deaths. The National Geographic article
illustrates the battle sites and gives specific numbers of the people who died at this war. This
article is recent and it implies the mistreatment of the Cuban people. With these two reasons
expressly conveyed, it is easy to see how the search of gold lead to the bad treatment of Cubans
and the killing of many Americans. Article one and two differ from one another as one examines
the causes of Cubans bad treatment by the Spanish and the other on how Cubans were
mistreated. The PBS article focuses more on how the U.S. wanted to rise as a world power to be
more successful and powerful than other countries. The PBS article recently explained how the
U.S. raised as the world power and how the Spanish war became a turning point in American
history. Spain did not wanted to give Cubans their freedom, the New York Times news paper, for
example, recently showed the poor conditions in which they lived and how Cuba surrender on
July 16 to end the war. The website of Dickinson.edu explains how Spain failed to feed and care
for her Cubans citizens leaving many Cubans sick and prone to die. The BBC website talks about
the United Stated of America timeline. It gives a chronology of key events. The author of the
website analyzed the reasons of why Spain wanted to control Cuba. The reason of Spain wanting
to control Cuba was the need to have more lands and more power but at the end the author
explains that Spain was not capable of controlling Cuba because the U.S interfered for them and
gained Cubans freedom. History of the Spanish American war article written by the NPR
organization focuses on how tensions between the United States and the Spanish Empire were
raising leading to a conflict between both. This article recently showed how the US blamed
Spain for the explosion and sinking of Main in the Havana Harbor causing a big conflict between
the two.
