INTRODUCTION
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF
XYZMAKER!
Close your eyes and try to imagine what it would be like to live in a
world without imagination? Where would man be today? Had not
someone in the past had a vision of the wheel? Of a house? Of talking
with someone over time and space? Of robotics and 3D? Everything we
have and know today stems from someone's imagination and this book is
one of the products of imagination and is also designed to open up your
imagination and create another imagination into a reality. I strongly urge
you to browse these pages in the happy knowledge that you will discover
something new, something wonderful and thats from the world of
XYZmaker.

CHAPTER 1
A TRIP AROUND XYZMAKER
The best way to learn about this incredible application is to get hands-on
with it. Before you can create your extra ordinary models, youve got to realize
that there are a lot of basic skills youll need to master first. The better way to
learn XYZmaker is to start slow and first learn how to use its most basic tools
and features. So lets get it on!

THE XYZMAKER
XYZmaker is a desktop-based 3D design application which allows you to make
a real object from your imagination. You can easily create and customize your own
designs. This can be used by both Professionals and Beginners. It can also change
the dimension of your thinking. To show you how to make the parts of a simple 3D
model, Ive picked a fun little mini car for you to build. But first, lets take a
closer look around XYZmaker.

CHANGING THE BACKGROUND COLOR OF THE MAIN WINDOW

One of the good things about XYZmaker that cannot be found in any other
3D applications is that we can change the background of its main window with our
preferred colors and thats also very easy to do.
Once you clicked the Start it now! in the Welcome Screen, you will be led to the
main window as we discussed in the previous pages and the main window that you
are looking has its custom color, and if you find it boring, you can change it just by
clicking Edit in the Menu Bar, click Preference. By clicking Preference, it will
prompt out another window.

Click Background and Color Property Window will appear. Select what color you
want. Click Ok then you will see your new main window. If you want to reset the
custom color, just click the arrow and it will automatically reset the background
color.

THE WORK PLANE

Since you will be creating figures out of shapes, numbers and letters, the
main thing to learn is how to work inside the work plane and how to scale objects
in the work plane to save more time.
Lets try to get around the work plane.

The View Tool in the bottom

left corner are used to change your viewing angle: use the four circles around the
yellow box icon to spin the model left or right, or to tilt the model up or down. You
can also use the plus and minus icons to zoom in and out.
If you have a scroll wheel mouse, you can rely on your mouse buttons, which is
even more convenient. Press and hold the right mouse button and drag the mouse
around - this is for spinning and tilting the model. Scrolling the mouse wheel up
and down lets you zoom. Try out these moves with your mouse -once you get used
to using these buttons, youll never need to click those navigation buttons again!
You can also change the visibility status of the grid by turning On/Off Grid.
Just click the square under the Home Icon and the work plane will be disabled,
clicking it once again and the work plane will be visible again.

TYPES OF WORK PLANE:

There are three types of work plane that you can use. It may vary on the
scaling that you will need on the figure. If you try to look inside the Tool Bar you
can see the Grid Button. By clicking the Grid Button, your work plane will change
its appearance into work plane having grids in centimeter, inches and millimeter

values.

THE MODEL BAR

The Model Bar located at the left corner will surely help you how to start
creating a project by putting an object on the plane as it is. You can choose in
the model bar which object will be needed in your project, it may be a Geometric
Figure, a Letter, a Number etc.

Fig.The Model Bar

To use the Model Bar, just double click the object that you need on your project
and it will automatically fall in the center of the Work plane. You can change the
color and measurements of the figure that you chose just by changing it in the
Properties Window on the right side that automatically appears as you click the
figure.

THE IMPORTED OBJECTS

After importing desired objects in the Model Bar, either by dragging or by
double clicking, you can observe that as you select object(s), their color (s), will
be lighter and brighter,

Select objects; then observe the color and highlight.

THE PROPERTIES WINDOW

Lets roam around the Properties Window that will automatically pop up once
you click an object in the work plane.

Color Box is located here

wherein you can change the
color of your object.

X-ray Function is also available

here to have a better glance on
your object inside. Once you
click this X-Ray Box, the object
will automatically be a little
transparent to make inserting
figures easier.

You can also see Grid

here where you can
also change the grid of
your work plane for
better details, same as
function of Grid
Button on the Tool Bar.

UNDERSTANDING MEASUREMENTS IN A FIGURE

When you select a figure, you can rescale it and change its dimensions. You
can always change its height, length and width and even rotate it in different
angles either through a property window, or in the small blue circles that
surround the figure.

For the Position

X is for horizontal movement
Y is for vertical movement

For the Dimension

X is for length of the figure
Y is for width of the figure

Z is for Up and Down move

Z is for height of the figure

For Rotation

You can also move the object/s through the bounding box that is located in
the center of the object. If you can see in the pictures below, there are colored
lines (Red Line indicates that Move Only in X-Axis, Green Line indicates that
Move Only in Y-axis and Blue Line indicates that Move Only in Z-Axis) that was
added to let the users move the object more easily.

Multiple Picking of objects is the term which the object will be selected if the
created scope reaches the vertex point. To do it, just hold the Left Mouse
Button and drag it to the scope to select your preferred objects.

THE LOCK FUNCTION

In our previous topic: Properties Window, we have seen Lock button as part
of the Properties Window. This time, we will tackle it deeper and more detailed.
The Lock Button comprises of two functions: To Lock and to Unlock .

Lock
Button

To Lock is to literally lock the Dimension of objects in the work plane.

Dimension of X, Y and Z would automatically enlarge or reduce all together at the
same time when you activate the Lock button. Observe the measurements in the
image below to see what happened when used Lock Function.

To unlock at the same time, is to get the measurements of the object by resizing

it under the X, Y and Z Dimension when you clicked the blue circle that surrounds
the object and also when you put manually the size that you want in the
Properties Window.
Observe again the measurements in the image below.

If you want to be sure if you had enabled the Lock Function or disabled Lock, just
look at the Status bar below the View Tool.

Note: Lock Function will be enabled or disabled if and only if you clicked the Lock
Button.

THE STATUS BAR

Status Bar is located at the bottom part of the Main Window. This simply
displays the information or the status of the action taken of the user in using
XYZmaker functions.
By having the Status Bar, users are able to know whether the actions have
been taken place. For instance, you want to open a file that you have saved, and
then you can know if the file was opened or if you accidentally cancelled opening
the file.
Lets have an example: You want to make a hole inside the cube. So their status
will be:

The number of vertex and number of faces are also located in the Status Bar
at the bottom left part of the Main Window.
The number of vertex and number of faces depends upon the action taken by the
user. The more objects placed in the work plane, the larger the vertex and
number of face is.
Try to look at the images below. I will use X-ray Function to have a better view
and details.

Note: The vertex and the faces will be your information regarding the objects
imported.
Always remember that whatever actions you made will be reflected upon the
Status Bar. So if you change the Language of the Application, this will also take
place in the Status Bar.
For example:
New File: (Chinese Simplified)

All Objects Selected: (Chinese Simplified)

Delete: (Chinese Simplified)

Zoom in: (Chinese Traditional)

X-Ray Enabled: (Chinese Traditional)

Object Color Changed! (Chinese Traditional)

THE PREFERENCE WINDOW

In the previous chapter, we encountered the Preference Window by
learning how to change the Background Color of the Main Window, so now, what
we will be focusing is the Preference Window itself.
Preference Window under the Menu Bar -Edit tab, is where we can see the
General and Appearance Properties. Coming from the word itself Preference,
users like you can choose your own design, color, language, where to save the
project, thus this means, this software is for all your preferences!

BEFORE YOU LEAVE THIS

CHAPTER:
Think about some of the new skills you have acquired in XYZmaker.

XYZmaker is amazing 3D applications made just for everybody either you are
Professional or Beginners.
The different functions of XYZmaker.
Some terms needed when you create 3D models.
Resizing objects- By using the Properties Window, you learned how to modify
an objects width, length and height.
Changing color- by changing color, smaller details and other figures can be
more easily distinguished.
The function of Hole- this is to remove material from a solid object.
Copy, Paste and Clone have the same functions, so you can use anything in
making another same figure.

Youll be learning many more XYZmaker skills in the chapter to come, but as of
now, you can study and have fun playing with other shapes and forms available in
the Geometric section. Take some time to experiment and use the skills youve
learned in this chapter.

CHAPTER 2
Exploring Beyond XYZmaker
Its nice to see you here in this chapter! This chapter is another
way to go, meaning, you can learn new basic skills and knowledge in 3D
modeling using XYZmaker! The secret to getting good at XYZmaker is
to keep creating and experiment skills that you learned and will be
learnt in the future. Lets get it on!

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

It's time to bring the ideas you've learned in the first chapter and develop
another model in XYZmaker for 3D printing. The goal of this chapter is to get you
acquainted with all the basic steps of developing a model for 3D printing just like
the mini car that we made in the previous chapter.
What I prepared for you on this chapter is How to make a 3D Bee

Fig. 3D Bee

SAVING IS FUN!
After the tutorial of how to make a 3D bee, lets study how to save our
projects if you wanted to save it for the mean time and for printing at a later
point. Saving ones project is very easy to do, no worries.

XYZmaker allows the user to save the model using two different options:
1. Save As: STL, AMF PLY and OBJ File 2) Save.

1.

Save as:

By clicking Save as: under File, there will be options for you on what format
to use. Its either on .stl, .amf, .ply, and .obj file.
If your project was saved in an STL format, the project will be grouped and have
one color only but still can be edited. If project will be saved on AMF format, it
will open just the way you saved it. Editing is still enabled.

Help Function help us to be connected, right? So, next on the line will be
Plugins that will help us to be creative which is the target of this chapter.
Plugins will help you to easily access the geometric figures with more variety
of functions to help you in managing such objects.
We will tackle how to use it step by step so you will know how this thing
works.

Geometric Plugin

By the Geometric Plugin, you can manage Model Bar and the Xray function at
the same time. You can manage the vertex needed in your object for your
project.

If clicked the box and enabled Transparent, you can see the X-ray form of the
object, You can select what figure you will be needing in your project and you can
adjust the number of grid of the object in the Cube Parameter ranging from
1-20 .

Lets try another one using Geometric Plugin.

Copy by Array Plugin

This part will just do the copy/clone function in a more distinct way and
process but will make the users easily access the Copy Function.
In order to do this, you must place and select an object that you wanted to
copy.

Then, choose whether Array Copy 1D, Array Copy 2D or Array Copy Circle.

Array Copy 1D
This will help you in copying the selected object in X-Axis ray only.
Just fill out the X-Axis Number Box provided ranging from 2-20 ; to know how
many copies you want plus the gap of the copied objects. Click Ok then it will
automatically be placed in your work plane.

Array Copy 2D
Unlike the Array Copy 1D, for the 2D thing, selected objects will be
copied in X-Axis AND Y-Axis. Same procedures like the 1D Copy but this time,
you should also fill out the Y-axis Number Box provided.

Array Copy Circle

On this part, as you were copying your selected objects, the number of
objects will form a circle formation depending on the number of objects plus the
radius given by the user.

Subdivision Triangle Plugin

To make your selected object smooth, just do it here in the Subdivision

Triangle Plugin. Just simply adjust its quality and the number of vertex and faces
will also follow. The higher the quality was, the larger the number of vertex and
faces of the object.
