Executive Summary
The Buggs Island Telephone Cooperative (B.I.T.) is in the process
of expanding its Cellular, Broadband and Wi-Fi offerings in south
central Virginia. One of the key aspects of this process was finding
a reliable service with more bandwidth for broadband services to
cover more counties. Thus far, B.I.T. is using BECs LTE products
exclusively and successfully throughout 5 counties in the rural
areas of south central Virginia.

revitalization efforts of south central Virginia.
BIT is committed to bringing broadband
services to the 299,375 people, 102,400
households, 15,100 businesses and 834
community anchor institutions in south
central Virginia.
Challenges
With the goal the goal of making high-speed
broadband available to areas that have
never had high-speed internet access and
areas that have only had access to
unreliable and terribly expensive service, BIT
was faced with a challenge. Before
partnering with BEC Technologies, BIT
provided a limited local, long distance, and
DSL broadband services to their subscribers
in its traditional footprint in just a few
counties in the south central region of
Virginia.
B.I.T. wants to offer fixed higher speed
wireless with more Bandwidth for broadband
services that will cover more counties in the
south central region of Virginia.
How Product Helped
Over the past 6 months, Buggs Island
Telephone Cooperative (BIT) has been
rolling out its new 4G LTE fixed wireless
broadband throughout Virginia using BECs
LTE products exclusively.

Results
BEC has always been at the forefront in engineering
devices which provide better wireless broadband and highspeed internet access to underserved customers. When
completed, BITs new broadband service will be available
throughout the five counties in rural areas not previously
served or with prior limited access.

Conclusion
In this and many other similar environments, BEC
technologies equipment has proven itself able to easily
handle the rigors of providing reliable internet services to the
un-served and underserved communities. BEC provides the
highest level of services and reaches an expanded customer
base. Our customers expect increased stability, extended
range and increased performance from our products with very
few problems compared to other products. BECs products
outperform other products and improve quality of services for
their customers.

Executive Summary
Garden Valley Telephone Company of Erskine, MN
offers high-speed internet and IPTV services to over
10,000 subscribers in 24 northern Minnesota
communities. Since 2005, GVTC has been actively
upgrading many of its subscribers from copper-based
ADSL2+ and VDSL2 technologies, to high speed
Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments.
The Customer
Garden Valley Telephone Company, based in Erskine, MN is one
of the largest telephone cooperatives in the state of Minnesota,
serving 24 exchanges and the surrounding communities. GVTC

has been providing state-of-the-art


telecommunications products and
services since 1906. In 2005, GVTC
started its first Fiber-to-the-Home project,
and in 2010 began offering IPTV services,
both of which continue to grow and serve
more Customers each year.
Challenges
As Garden Valley Telephone continues to
migrate subscribers from xDSL to Fiberto-the-Home based services, the benefits
of standardizing on a single Customer
Premise Equipment (CPE) capable of
supporting all deployed technologies
became apparent. Additionally, they
wanted the option to preserve the
investment in the CPE to enable them to
offer their subscribers other services well
into the future.

Results
Smith selected BECs Ultimum 8920NE, saying the 8920NE
just made sense for us. Its ability to automatically synch to
any of our DSL circuits during boot up without any special
configuration has simplified our installation process, and
reduced the length of time our technicians are on site.
Additionally, when a subscriber gets converted over to FTTH
in the future, we can preserve our investment in the CPE by
connecting the CPE directly off the Ethernet port of the Fiber
ONT and into the 8920NEs Ethernet WAN port. This will also
reduce the time required for our technicians to complete the
upgrade to FTTH and eliminate the inconvenience to the
subscriber associated with changing Wireless LAN access
information
The 8920NE just made sense for us. Its ability to
automatically synch to any of our DSL circuits during boot up

West Central Wireless is one of the largest rural fixed wireless
providers based in San Angelo, Texas, with satellite offices in Brady,
Texas. Their cellular services consist of 850 MHz HSPA and GSM
networks, along with legacy D-AMPS (TDMA) and CDMA networks.
West Central Wireless needed to upgrade their network solutions of
to a reliable service that could handle its large customer base. One
of the key aspects of this process was finding a reliable service with
more bandwidth for broadband services to cover more distance.

Thus far, West Central Wireless is using BECs 4G LTE and

West Central Wireless is a local mobile


phone provider serving Central and West
Texas based in San Angelo, Texas, with
satellite offices in Brady, Texas. West
Central was founded 25 years ago to provide
the best cellphone service in west central
Texas. Their mission is to provide customers
with the best products, services, and
solutions helping to make their lives safer
and worry free.

West Central Wireless deployed the 6200 WXLR4/R5,


6800ULR4/R5, MX- 1000 and LCMS remote management
system. Since the deployment of BEC products, West Central
Wireless has noticed increased stability, extended range and
increased performance. Remote management impacted their
bottom line by enabling efficient support and increasing
device uptime. BEC offers US based support out of Dallas,
TX and have been on-site many times through the service
launch to ensure successful deployment.

Challenges
West Central Wireless noticed instability in
their network service resulting in losing
money due to truck rolls and low
performance. In addition to this unreliability
in the service, there was lack of support
available when problems arose from the
equipment. The equipment used was not
able to support the deployment distance
leaving customers without consistent service.
.How Product Helped
West Central Wireless was in need of
products that could support over 6,500 fixed
wireless customers and an upwards of 500
customers a month. With the help of BEC
equipment, West Central Wireless not only
did this but is able to support their furthest
deployed customer from a tower 19.8 miles
away. BECs products provide West Central
Wireless with a more reliable service and
increased performance with more accessible
data rates at all distances from the tower. In
addition to the router, West Central Wireless
deployed remote management systems
which enables them access into the routers
remotely for troubleshooting purposes when
needed, greatly reducing their time spent on
each support call and reduces truck rolls.

Conclusion
The 6200 WZL is a 4g LTE Broadband router that provides
Broadband access without boundaries for many consumers,
businesses and service providers. There are still many
regions not yet covered by the minimum broadband
standard defined by the FCC and in these rural areas, like in
Central and West, Texas, fixed wireless broadband is the
ideal broadband deployment technology. With the deployment
of this 700MHZ Band LTE network; West Central Wireless
achieved accessible data rates, signal strength and reliable
coverage in rural Texas.
The 6800RUL is a 4G FF-LTE outdoor broadband router
designed for the latest generation LTE fixed wireless
networks providing connectivity for homes and business on
the fringe of cellular networks. The 6800RUL supports robust
