The audio book gives illustrations like a movie. This will help
engage the students in the story paying close attention to the

The first link takes you to a youtube video that reads aloud
the book rainbow fish.
The students will watch and listen as the story is read to
them through the video with some visuals.
After the video is over and the book is read, go to slide
number two. This slide is going to be interactive for the
students.
With the entire class, go over the conflict from Rainbowfish
through cause and effect.
The cause is already on the slide, because rainbow fish
didnt share his scales. The students may raise their
hands and come up with the effect and the teacher
discusses/explains to the students the right answers.
Effect= the other fish stopped being friends with rainbow fish
because he wouldnt share his scales. He thought since he
was so beautiful, they should all like him but he became the
loneliest fish in the ocean.
The third slide then talks about the resolution. The same
thing should happen on this slide, students raise their hands
and the teacher should explain and discuss the right
answers with them.
Resolution=He went to the wise octopus, he told the rainbow
fish to give away his scales. Giving away his scales taught

rainbow fish the joy of sharing and friendship, he didnt care

about being the most beautiful fish anymore, he finally felt at
home among the other fish.

The fourth slide contains a link to a kahoot quiz. Login to
kahoot and click the link, a 5 question quiz on rainbow fish
will pop up.
The students should be using either a computer, tablet or
smartphone to log on to kahoot.it, before the quiz comes up,
it will provide a code for the students to enter into their
devices to get the quiz.
Each question has 4 options and gives 20 seconds for the
students to answer. The teacher should read the question
and the choices out loud to the students.
After the quiz, going back to the slideshow, slide number five
has a discussion question what characteristics make up a
good friend? the class should discuss this as a whole and
put the answers on the sixth slide which is a picture of
rainbow fish.

Essential Strategy
Essential strategies are strategies that can help students to learn effectively. Some examples include: close
